Mastercard Incorporated MA is expanding its push into AI-powered commerce with the launch of Agent Pay for Machines (AP4M), a payment service designed to support transactions executed by AI agents and machines. More than 30 industry participants are supporting the adoption of the platform. Designed for the emerging machine-to-machine economy, the service enables AI agents to securely execute automated transactions and interact with other services on behalf of businesses.
AP4M builds on Mastercard's Agent Pay program launched in 2025. Launched in 2012, the company got off to a seemingly slow start as an international remittance middleman between the United States and other parts of the world. Chalk it up to the newness of the premise, mostly. At that point, bank wires and platforms like Western Union (NYSE: WU) were the established option, despite steep fees and slow turnaround times. This market wasn't quite ready for a mobile app then, and, to be fair, Remitly's earliest app iteration wasn't nearly as capable as it is today. Now, its platform can send money to and from over 175 countries.
And it's increasingly doing just that at an accelerating growth pace.
Well-earned growth
Remitly's recent results speak volumes about the fintech company's growing reach. Last quarter, 9.6 million customers used the Remitly app to send $22.1 billion across borders, generating nearly $453 million in revenue for the company. Those numbers are up 20%, 37%, and 25% (respectively) year over year, extending last year's top-line growth of 29%. The company's now firmly profitable too, improving its quarterly net income by 332%, from $11.4 million in Q1 of last year to $49.1 million for the three months ending in March.
What's driving this progress? Simplicity, mostly. Sending money across any border still requires extensive disclosure and permissions. Remitly just builds much of this logistical work into the app itself, without the need for a brick-and-mortar station to assist customers with the process.
The company also enjoys scale and can afford to cost-effectively handle the currencies that its customers may need to convert money to or from, and passes along these savings to its users.
More than anything, the app just works, earning 4.9 stars in Apple's App Store and 4.8 stars on Android. Remitly's platform reliably -- and easily -- does what consumers have struggled to efficiently get done before.
There's plenty more upside ahead, too. Mordor Intelligence suggests the worldwide remittance industry is poised to grow at an average annualized rate of 12.4% through 2031. It's an evolving business; however, that's also ripe for disruption by a new information technology name like Remitly.
Analysts see something most investors don't yet
So, yes, Remitly stock could be a long-term winner. Just note that the stock's been stagnant since early 2022, shortly after peaking in 2021 following its IPO. Most investors remain on the fence. They'll need to get on board if the stock's going to climb.
Analysts aren't undecided, though. All of them covering this stock rate it a strong buy, with a consensus price target of $28.25 -- which is 50% above this ticker's present price. That's not a bad way to start out a new trade.

Remitly Is Disrupting Cross-Border Payments. Is the Stock a Long-Term Winner?

Looking at the universe of stocks we cover at Dividend Channel, on 6/4/26, PayPal Holdings Inc (Symbol: PYPL) will trade ex-dividend, for its quarterly dividend of $0.14, payable on 6/25/26. As a percentage of PYPL's recent stock price of $43.70, this dividend works out to approximately 0.32%.
In general, dividends are not always predictable; but looking at the history above can help in judging whether the most recent dividend from PYPL is likely to continue, and whether the current estimated yield of 1.28% on annualized basis is a reasonable expectation of annual yield going forward. The chart below shows the one year performance of PYPL shares, versus its 200 day moving average:
Looking at the chart above, PYPL's low point in its 52 week range is $38.46 per share, with $79.50 as the 52 week high point — that compares with a last trade of $43.48.

Elon Musk's SpaceX is set to potentially make history in a matter of weeks. The technology and industrial giant aims to launch a nearly $2 trillion initial public offering, which would represent the biggest IPO ever. A roadshow is set to begin in the coming days, and a Reuters report indicated that the actual IPO could be as early as June 12.
IPOs aren't always easy for retail investors to access, but press reports say Musk aims to allot 30% of the shares to retail investors -- this is compared to about 5% to 10% in most IPOs. So the SpaceX launch stands out as a big opportunity for non-professional investors.

Now, the question is: Should you participate in the IPO or even buy shares of SpaceX in its early days of trading? Before making any decisions, let's take a look at what history says about investing in an Elon Musk-backed company...
Musk's Tesla track record
Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, has been involved in many companies -- most, however, are private, such as neurotechnology start-up Neuralink. And Musk's involvement with public company PayPal, where he was a co-founder, ended many years ago. The best example of a Musk-backed company is electric vehicle giant Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) -- Musk was an early investor and became the chief executive officer back in 2008.
So, as we consider an investment in SpaceX, it's worth taking a moment to look at Tesla's performance. The company launched its IPO on June 29, 2010, and this was clearly in its early growth stages, as we can see through the revenue and loss levels in the chart below over the following two years. At the same time, the stock moved progressively higher.
In the years to come, Tesla's revenue soared, the company reached profitability, and the stock continued to advance.
Since, Tesla has seen profit decline from its peak and has faced various challenges from significant competition -- particularly in China -- to supply chain issues. And regulatory headwinds could weigh on any future introduction of a fully autonomous vehicle. Musk himself has sparked controversy, too, in part due to his involvement in politics, his comments on social media, and even some of his ambitions -- such as the goal to establish a city on Mars.
A flair for innovation
Still, many of Musk's ambitions and his flair for innovation have also attracted investors, particularly since he has scored many wins at Tesla, from an earnings and stock performance perspective.
History tells us that investing in a Musk-backed company could produce winning results over time, and many investors clearly have been excited about getting involved in a Musk-led story. We can even see this through the excitement generated by talk of the SpaceX IPO.
Does this mean you should jump into the SpaceX opportunity? Not necessarily. Looking at Tesla is important because it shows Musk's commitment to innovation and his ability to take ideas from the drawing board and make them a reality that can generate growth.
An important test ahead
That said, Musk has disappointed the market too, recently with the Cybertruck -- sales of that vehicle declined 48% last year, according to a Kelley Blue Book report. And he faces an important test in the coming quarters at Tesla amid the challenges I mentioned above. It's also important to keep in mind that one win -- Tesla -- doesn't mean Musk's next publicly traded company will deliver the same in terms of revenue and stock performance.
So, while Musk's Tesla track record might be one generally positive point to consider, it shouldn't be the deciding factor when it comes to investing in SpaceX. Instead, it's key to look at SpaceX itself and your own investment strategy. For example, if you're a cautious investor, SpaceX, which must invest heavily to meet goals and is involved in certain unproven technologies, probably isn't the best choice for you.
If you're an aggressive growth investor looking for a new tech opportunity, however, buying a few shares of SpaceX may be the right move.
But here's the best news of all. If we look at history, considering Tesla and quality stocks in general, you don't have to buy during or right after an IPO to score a win. In general, great companies offer many entry points over time, and investors might benefit by getting in at these later dates and holding on for the long term.

Should You Buy SpaceX? Here's What History Says About Investing in an Elon Musk-Backed Company.

Remitly has grown rapidly over the past few years.
But stablecoins could throttle the company’s long-term growth.
Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies that are mostly pegged to the U.S. dollar. They're becoming a popular way for people in countries with currency devaluation issues to preserve their savings without buying U.S. dollars, and for companies to settle cross-border transactions at faster, cheaper rates than conventional interbank transfers. Stablecoins can also be staked (locked up) on various exchanges to earn higher yields than those from traditional savings accounts.
In other words, top stablecoins like Tether (CRYPTO: USDT) and USD Coin (CRYPTO: USDC) could eventually represent an existential threat to banks and other fintech companies. One fintech company that could be hurt in that seismic shift is Remitly (NASDAQ: RELY), one of the fastest-growing independent remittance service providers in the United States.

Why could stablecoins disrupt Remitly?
From 2021 to 2025, Remitly's year-end active customer base increased from 2.8 million to 9.3 million, its send volume jumped from $20.4 billion to $74.9 billion, and its annual revenue soared from $459 million to $1.64 billion. Its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) also turned positive in 2023, and grew 34% to $135 million in 2024 and 29% to $272 million in 2025. It also turned profitable for the first time in 2025.
But over the past five years, Remitly's stock plunged more than 50%. After that pullback, its stock looks undervalued at less than nine times this year's adjusted EBITDA. Remitly's stock is cheap because investors are concerned that stablecoins could disrupt its core business model.
Remitly generates most of its revenue by buying currencies at cheaper "interbank" rates and selling them to its customers at higher prices. It also charges transaction fees. Its blended take rate (foreign exchange margin plus transaction fees) is usually more than 2% per transaction.
By comparison, stablecoin-driven cross-border transfers are instant and cost fractions of a cent. But for now, stablecoins don't have Remitly's "last mile" advantage through integrations with local payment apps, physical banks, and retail stores. So while stablecoins are much faster and cheaper for cross-border transfers, they're much harder to withdraw.
However, payment giants like Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal have been integrating more stablecoin payments into their ecosystems. Those popular consumer-facing platforms could provide stablecoins with the "last mile" boost to finally disrupt pricier cross-border remittance services like Remitly.
While Remitly is still a major winner in the cross-border payments market, it could lose momentum as stablecoins reshape the competitive landscape. It isn't doomed, but it needs to find fresh ways to keep up with those changes to command a higher valuation.
