Treasury Secretary Bessent said the agreement means the US threat of a 100% tariff on US imports from China, set to start November 1, is "effectively off the table." Meanwhile, China agreed not to restrict the export of rare earth metals for at least one year and to buy a "substantial" amount of US soybeans. The two sides also made progress on shipping fees and US demands that China crack down on the export to the US of fentanyl and precursors. The two sides may also reach an agreement that would allow US consumers to continue to access TikTok.

Treasury Secretary Bessent said Monday that the pool of candidates for the next Fed Chair has been narrowed to Christopher Waller, Kevin Warsh, Kevin Hassett, Michelle Bowman, and Rick Rieder. President Trump is expected to announce a decision on a new Fed Chair by year-end to replace current Fed Chair Powell, whose term as the Fed Chairman ends on May 15, 2026. Mr. Powell's separate term as a Fed Governor runs until January 2028, though he faces pressure from Mr. Trump to step down as a Fed Governor as well, so Mr. Trump can appoint a more dovish Fed governor.
This is a busy week, with the FOMC meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, when it is expected to cut its federal funds rate target by -25 bp. Also, five of the Magnificent Seven companies report earnings this week, with Alphabet, Meta, and Microsoft reporting on Wednesday, and Apple and Amazon.com reporting on Thursday.
There was some carry-over support from last Friday's Sep US CPI report of +3.0% y/y for both the nominal and core figures, which was slightly weaker than expectations of +3.1% y/y for both figures.
Trade relations with Canada were a negative factor for stocks on Monday after President Trump said on Saturday that he would impose a new 10% tariff on US imports from Canada as punishment for last week's anti-tariff advertisement released by the provincial government of Ontario. Mr. Trump initially said that he was only halting US trade negotiations with Canada due to the ad, but he escalated the punishment over the weekend by imposing a new 10% tariff, even though Ontario had agreed to pause the ad campaign.
Ontario's ad featured former US President Reagan speaking out in a 1987 address in favor of free trade and against tariffs, calling tariffs an outdated idea that stifles innovation, drives up prices, and hurts US workers. Mr. Trump claimed the ad was deceptive and said it was designed to influence the US Supreme Court ahead of oral arguments on November 5 on the legality of Mr. Trump's reciprocal tariffs. Lower courts have already deemed Mr. Trump's reciprocal tariffs illegal, ruling the tariffs are based on a specious claim of emergency authority. If the US Supreme Court upholds those rulings, the US government will have to refund the tariffs already collected, and Mr. Trump's power to impose tariffs will be limited to well-founded sections of US trade law.
The US government shutdown continues into its fifth week, weighing on market sentiment and the US economy. The government shutdown is delaying the release of government reports, including all the recent weekly unemployment claims reports, the September unemployment and payroll report, Aug trade balance, Sep retail sales, Sep PPI, Sep housing starts, Sep industrial production, Sep leading indicators, and others. Bloomberg Economics estimates that 640,000 federal workers will be furloughed during the shutdown, which would expand jobless claims and push the unemployment rate up to 4.7%.
The markets are focused on earnings results as the Q3 earnings season continues. According to Bloomberg Intelligence, 84% of the S&P 500 companies that have reported so far have beaten forecasts, on course for the best quarter since 2021. However, Q3 profits are expected to have risen by +7.2% y/y, the smallest increase in two years. Also, Q3 sales growth is projected to slow to +5.9% y/y from +6.4% in Q2.
Overseas stock markets on Monday closed higher. The Euro Stoxx 50 closed up +0.64%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +1.18%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 closed up +2.46%.
Interest Rates
December 10-year T-notes (ZNZ5) on Monday rose slightly by +0.5 tick. The 10-year T-note yield fell -1.2 bp to 3.989%. T-note prices initially fell on Monday due to the US-Chinese trade agreement, which reduced safe-haven demand for Treasury securities and was positive for the US and Chinese economies. T-note prices were also pressured by the rally in US stocks.
However, T-note prices recovered later in the day as the 10-year inflation expectations rate fell by -1.1 bp to 2.288%. T-notes have support from the ongoing US government shutdown, which could lead to additional job losses, reduced consumer spending, and a weakened US economy, potentially allowing the Fed to continue cutting interest rates.
The markets are discounting a 98% chance of a -25 bp rate cut at this week's FOMC meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct 28-29).
European government bond yields closed lower. The 10-year German bund yield fell -1.0 bp to 2.616%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell 3.0 bp at 4.402%.
Swaps are discounting a 1% chance for a -25 bp rate cut by the ECB at its next policy meeting on October 30.

Chip stocks traded higher across the board Monday, led by a +11% gain in Qualcomm (QCOM) on news of a new AI chip and computer line to compete with Nvidia. Crypto stocks traded higher, with support from Monday's gains of more than +3% in Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) and +5% in Ethereum (^ETHUSD). Riot Platforms (RIOT) rallied more than +7%, Strategy (MSTR) rallied +2.3%, and Coinbase (COIN) rallied +2.0%.
Avidity Biosciences (RNA) rallied +42% after news that Swiss-based Novartis plans to buy the company in a deal worth $12 billion. Novartis ADR shares (NVS) fell -0.9%.
Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares (HBAN) agreed to buy Cadence Bank (CADE) for $7.4 billion in an all-stock deal to expand into the Southeast and South. Huntington fell -1.8%, while Cadence rallied +4.4%.
American Water Works (AWK) fell -2.5%, and Essential Utilities (WTRG) fell -1.4%, after news that the two companies finalized AWK's purchase of Essential Utilities for $12 billion in an all-stock deal.
Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) rallied more than +7% after raising its full-year net sales guidance.
Lululemon Athletica (LULU) rallied about +2% on news of an agreement with the National Football League and sports merchandiser Fanatics Inc to develop a line of fan apparel.
Robinhood Markets (HOOD) rose more than +4% after CICC gave the brokerage a new rating of outperform.

ServiceNow NOW is scheduled to release its third-quarter 2025 results on Oct. 29.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter revenues is currently pegged at $3.35 billion, indicating 19.8% growth from the figure reported in the year-ago quarter.
The consensus mark for earnings is pegged at $4.21 per share, unchanged over the past 30 days and indicates growth of 13.2% from the figure reported in the year-ago quarter.

NOW’s Q3 to Aid From Strong Subscription Revenue Growth
ServiceNow expects third-quarter 2025 subscription revenues between $3.26 billion and $3.265 billion, suggesting year-over-year growth in the range of 20%-20.5% on a GAAP basis on 19.5% on a constant currency basis. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter 2025 subscription revenues is pegged at $3.03 billion, indicating 20.2% year-over-year growth.
NOW’s workflows are gaining traction. In the second quarter of 2025, technology workflows won 40 deals worth over $1 million, including four over $5 million. ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, security and risk were all in at least 15 of the top 20 deals. CRM and industry workflows were in 17 of NOW’s top 20 deals, with 17 of those deals over $1 million. Core business workflows were in 16 of the top 20 deals, with seven deals over $1 million. The trend is expected to have continued in the to-be-reported quarter.
NOW ended the reported quarter with 528 customers generating more than $5 million in ACV. The number of customers contributing $20 million or more increased by more than 30% year over year. ServiceNow closed 89 deals greater than $1 million in net new ACV in the reported quarter, including 11 deals over $5 million. NOW’s have been benefiting from strong platform adoption, a trend that is expected to have continued in the fiscal third quarter.
However, NOW shares have suffered from a worsening macroeconomic environment due to higher tariffs and trade uncertainty. Slowing growth prospects in the U.S. public domain have been a headwind for ServiceNow.

NOW shares have dropped 12.2% year to date (YTD), outperforming the Zacks Computer & Technology sector’s return of 25.9%. However, ServiceNow shares have outperformed the Zacks Computers – IT Services industry, which has declined 13% YTD.

The latest Zurich platform promises rapid AI adoption through the combination of multi-agentic AI development, enterprise-grade security and autonomous workflows. The launch of AI agents in ServiceNow’s Security and Risk solutions transforms enterprise security by enabling self-defending systems, improving response times and enhancing risk management in collaboration with Microsoft MSFT and Cisco.
A rich partner base that includes the likes of Alphabet, Amazon AMZN, Microsoft and NVIDIA NVDA is noteworthy. NOW has partnered with Amazon’s cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services, to launch a bi-directional data integration solution, enabling enterprises to unify data and trigger AI-powered workflows by connecting ServiceNow with Amazon Redshift.
NVIDIA and NOW collaborated to launch AI agents for the telecom industry. The AI agents were built with NVIDIA AI Enterprise software and the AI platform NVIDIA DGX Cloud. ServiceNow has expanded its partnership with NVIDIA to enhance agentic AI by integrating NVIDIA Llama Nemotron reasoning models and AI agent evaluation tools into the ServiceNow Platform for optimized business transformation.
Acquisitions have also played an important role in expanding NOW’s portfolio. In April 2025, ServiceNow announced the acquisition of Logik.ai, a company specializing in AI-powered and Configure, Price, Quote solutions. Both these segments are expected to have benefited from top-line growth. GOOGL’s AI Push Aids Search & Cloud Businesses
GOOGL’s Search business is benefiting from AI infusion. Alphabet is leading the search domain with 90.4% market share, followed by Microsoft’s MSFT Bing, with 4.08% share, Yandex’s 1.65%, Yahoo!’s 1.46%, DuckDuckGo’s 0.87% and Baidu’s 0.75%, per the latest data from StatCounter.
Alphabet’s initiatives to deploy AI in Search are noteworthy. The integration of Generative AI (Gen AI) technology into the search engine has been benefiting Google Search. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Search and other revenues is currently pegged at $55.09 billion, suggesting 11.5% growth over the figure reported in the year-ago quarter.
Meanwhile, Alphabet has been growing rapidly in the booming cloud-computing market. Google Cloud has solidified its position as the third-largest provider in the highly competitive cloud infrastructure market against the likes of Microsoft Azure and Amazon’s AMZN Amazon Web Services. According to Synergy Research Group data, Google Cloud, along with Microsoft, is gaining market share, while Amazon continues to lead with a 30% market share in the second quarter of 2025. Alphabet and Microsoft had 20% and 13% market share, respectively.
In the Cloud, Alphabet is benefiting from its partnership with NVIDIA NVDA. Google Cloud was the first cloud provider to offer NVIDIA’s B200 and GB200 Blackwell GPUs and will be offering its next-generation Vera Rubin GPUs. In fact, Alphabet and NVIDIA are collaborating to develop AI tools and transform industries including healthcare, manufacturing and energy.

Can Strong Search and Cloud Growth Drive GOOGL's Q3 Earnings?

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) is up +0.87%, the Dow Jones Industrials Index ($DOWI) (DIA) is up +0.52%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is up +1.32%. December E-mini S&P futures (ESZ25) are up +0.82%, and December E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQZ25) are up +1.30%.
US stocks rallied today after US and Chinese negotiators, who met over the weekend in Malaysia, said they reached a tentative trade agreement to be finalized at Thursday’s summit between Presidents Trump and Xi on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference in South Korea. Treasury Secretary Bessent said the agreement means that the US threat of a 100% tariff on US imports from China starting November 1 is “effectively off the table.” Meanwhile, China agreed not to restrict the export of rare earth metals for at least one year and to buy a “substantial” amount of US soybeans. The two sides also made progress on shipping fees and US demands that China crack down on the export to the US of fentanyl and precursors. The two sides may also reach an agreement that would allow US consumers to continue to access TikTok.

Treasury Secretary Bessent said today that the pool of candidates for the next Fed Chair has been narrowed to Christopher Waller, Kevin Warsh, Kevin Hassett, Michelle Bowman, and Rick Rieder. President Trump is expected to announce a decision on a new Fed Chair by year-end to replace current Fed Chair Powell, whose term as the Fed Chairman ends on May 15, 2026. Mr. Powell’s term as a Fed Governor runs until January 2028, although he will face pressure from Mr. Trump to step down as a Fed Governor as well, so Mr. Trump can appoint a more dovish Fed governor.
This will be a busy week, with the FOMC meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, when it is expected to cut its federal funds rate target by -25 bp. Also, five of the Magnificent Seven stocks report earnings this week, with Alphabet, Meta, and Microsoft reporting on Wednesday, and Apple and Amazon.com reporting on Thursday.
There is some carry-over support from last Friday’s Sep US CPI report of +3.0% y/y for both the nominal and core figures, which was slightly weaker than expectations for both of +3.1% y/y.
Trade relations with Canada are a negative factor for stocks after President Trump on Saturday said he will impose a new 10% tariff on US imports from Canada as punishment for last week’s anti-tariff advertisement released by the provincial government of Ontario. Mr. Trump initially said only that he was halting US trade negotiations with Canada due to the ad, but he escalated the punishment over the weekend by imposing a new 10% tariff, even though Ontario had agreed to pause the ad campaign.
Ontario’s ad featured former US President Reagan speaking out in a 1987 address in favor of free trade and against tariffs, calling tariffs an outdated idea that stifles innovation, drives up prices, and hurts US workers. Mr. Trump claimed the ad was deceptive and said it was designed to influence the US Supreme Court ahead of oral arguments on November 5 on the legality of Mr. Trump’s reciprocal tariffs. Lower courts have already deemed Mr. Trump’s reciprocal tariffs illegal, ruling the tariffs are based on a specious claim of emergency authority. If the US Supreme Court upholds those rulings, the US government will have to refund the tariffs already collected, and Mr. Trump’s power to impose tariffs will be limited to well-founded sections of US trade law.
The US government shutdown continues into its fifth week, weighing on market sentiment and the US economy. The government shutdown is delaying the release of government reports, including all the recent weekly initial unemployment claims reports, the September unemployment and payroll report, Aug trade balance, Sep retail sales, Sep PPI, Sep housing starts, Sep industrial production, Sep leading indicators, and others. Bloomberg Economics estimates that 640,000 federal workers will be furloughed during the shutdown, which would expand jobless claims and push the unemployment rate up to 4.7%.
The markets are focused on earnings results as the Q3 earnings season continues. According to Bloomberg Intelligence, 84% of the S&P 500 companies that have reported so far have beaten forecasts, on course for the best quarter since 2021. However, Q3 profits are expected to have risen by +7.2% y/y, the smallest increase in two years. Also, Q3 sales growth is projected to slow to +5.9% y/y from +6.4% in Q2.
Overseas stock markets today are higher. The Euro Stoxx 50 is up +0.27%. China’s Shanghai Composite closed up +1.18%. Japan’s Nikkei Stock 225 closed up +2.46%.
Interest Rates
December 10-year T-notes (ZNZ5) are down -4.5 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield is up +1.0 bp at 4.010%. T-note prices are trading lower due to the US-Chinese trade agreement, which is positive for the US and Chinese economies. T-note prices are also being pressured by the rally in US stocks and today’s +0.7 bp rise in the 10-year breakeven inflation expectations rate.
T-notes have support from the ongoing US government shutdown, which could lead to additional job losses, reduced consumer spending, and a weakened US economy, potentially allowing the Fed to continue cutting interest rates.
The markets are discounting a 97% chance of a -25 bp rate cut at this week’s FOMC meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct 28-29).
European government bond yields are steady to lower. The 10-year German bund yield is unchanged at 2.626%. The 10-year UK gilt yield is down -2.0 bp at 4.411%.
Swaps are discounting a 1% chance for a -25 bp rate cut by the ECB at its next policy meeting on October 30.
US Stock Movers
The Magnificent Seven stocks are all trading higher today, led by gains of more than +2% in Nvidia (NVDA), Alphabet (GOOG), Tesla (TSLA), and Meta Platforms (META).
Chip stocks are trading higher across the board today, led by gains of more than +3% in Intel (INTC) and Lam Research (LRCX).
Crypto stocks are trading higher today, with support from today’s gains of more than +3% in Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) and +5% in Ethereum (^ETHUSD). Strategy (MSTR), MARA Holdings (MARA), and Riot Platforms (RIOT) are up more than +2%. Coinbase (COIN) is up more than +1%.
Avidity Biosciences (RNA) is up +42% after news that Swiss-based Novartis plans to buy the company in a deal worth $12 billion. Novartis ADR shares (NVS) down -2%.
Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares (HBAN) agreed to buy Cadence Bank (CADE) for $7.4 billion in an all-stock deal to expand into the Southeast and South. Huntington is down -2% while Cadence is up more than +4%.
Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) is up more than +4% after raising its full-year net sales guidance.
Lululemon Athletica (LULU) is up more than +2% on news of an agreement with the National Football League and sports merchandiser Fanatics Inc to develop a line of fan apparel.
Robinhood (HOOD) is up more than 5% after CICC gave the brokerage a new rating of outperform.
Newmont (NEM) is down -4% as the company seeks to gain control of Barrick’s gold mines in Nevada.
Boeing (BA) is trading slightly higher even though factory workers in St Louis narrowly rejected a new 5-year contract that would have ended a 3-month strike that has disrupted the company’s main military manufacturing operations.

Just about the only way that SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ: SOFI) is boring is because it's a financial services company. Banking...mortgages...student loans...yawn. But hold on -- note that it has the word "technologies" in its name. That's because in its own way, it's a tech stock, and one that could outperform the tech-stock world, in general.
SoFi Technologies is a fintech company -- involved in both finance and technology. It's a bank that's working on becoming a one-stop shop for consumers, helping them save, spend, and invest via an app that also gives them access to financial planners and more.

The stock has been on a tear recently, averaging annual gains of 77% over the past three years, up 176% over the past year, and up 87% year to date (as of Oct. 22). Wow. SoFi Technologies has already crushed lots of tech stocks, performance-wise, in recent years. Consider that over the past year, it's even ahead of semiconductor superstar Nvidia, which is up 26% -- perhaps catching its breath.
In its second quarter, SoFi Technologies posted revenue up 43% year over year and net income up 459%. Better still, the company said a "record 850,000 new members joined SoFi in the quarter, up 34% from the prior year to 11.7 million."
The company can't keep posting triple-digit growth rates forever, but it can keep growing at a rapid clip for a while, likely long enough to keep trouncing the growth rates of many tech companies.
Think twice before jumping in, though, because shares aren't exactly bargain-priced at recent levels, with a recent price-to-sales ratio of 11 far above its five-year average of 4. Investors might want to buy shares gradually, or wait for a better price. In the meantime, you might look at some compelling tech stocks that are more reasonably priced.

Since last January, shares of Nvidia have gained nearly 270% as of this writing (Oct. 23). For perspective, this is more than five times the gains generated in the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500.
While this type of momentum might have you thinking the Nvidia train is headed for a speed bump, analysts across Wall Street beg to differ. Let's explore several key tailwinds that could help fuel Nvidia's generational run even further, and assess why now still looks like a great time for long-term investors to double down on the stock.
What catalysts does Nvidia have?
For the last three years, Nvidia's primary source of revenue and profits has been its compute and networking business. This is the segment of the company responsible for selling high-performance AI accelerators, known as graphics processing units (GPUs), and accompanying data center services.
Right now, Nvidia's next-generation chip architecture -- dubbed Blackwell -- is in high demand among big tech hyperscalers like Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta Platforms, Oracle, and OpenAI. What's even more encouraging, however, is Nvidia's pace of innovation. Over the next couple of years, the company is slated to release even more powerful successor chips, known as Blackwell Ultra and Vera Rubin.
This dense product roadmap brings up an important question: Why is Nvidia already planning next-generation hardware as it currently scales Blackwell?
The answer to that can be summed up by looking at the long-term forecasts of capital expenditures (capex) from the hyperscalers. Over the last few years, cloud hyperscalers and big tech titans have poured hundreds of billions of dollars into AI data centers, packing these facilities with best-in-class GPU clusters and networking equipment.
These dynamics have served as a bellwether for Nvidia throughout the AI boom. But according to Wall Street, the AI infrastructure revolution is just getting started.
According to management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, an estimated $7 trillion is expected to be spent on AI infrastructure over the next five years. In the near term, research from Goldman Sachs indicates that the hyperscalers will spend nearly half a trillion dollars on AI buildouts just next year.
It's this rise in AI infrastructure that has technology analyst Beth Kindig of the I/O Fund calling for Nvidia to reach a $6 trillion valuation by 2026 -- implying more than 30% upside from its current market capitalization of roughly $4.5 trillion.
What is Wall Street's view of Nvidia?
According to data from Yahoo! Finance, a total of 64 sell-side analysts cover Nvidia stock. Among these researchers, 59 place a rating of "buy" or an equivalent on Nvidia stock. Only one analyst rates Nvidia stock as a sell.
While the topics explored above provide some qualitative details surrounding Nvidia's bullish prospects, let's dig into the numbers to add some quantitative color around why so many on Wall Street still see Nvidia stock as an attractive value.
Is Nvidia stock a buy right now?
A valuation metric that I like to look at is the forward price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple. This ratio accounts for projected earnings growth in a company -- potentially giving investors a glimpse of how optimistic Wall Street is over a company's future profit potential.
In the chart above, investors can see how Nvidia's forward P/E has fluctuated throughout the AI revolution. Two key details stick out from the analysis above.
First, Nvidia stock has clearly enjoyed some outsized momentum over the last few months, leading to a prolonged period of valuation expansion. That said, the company's forward earnings multiple of 40 is materially lower than the prior peak of 51, witnessed early last year.
This is an important nuance to digest. What the trends above are implying is that despite having more tailwinds behind it now -- and a greater ability to command even more record profits -- Nvidia stock is actually cheaper today than it was in early 2024.
In this case, I am aligned with Wall Street. I think Nvidia is poised to benefit from numerous secular tailwinds as the AI infrastructure boom accelerates. While the stock is not inexpensive, per se, it trades at a relative discount compared to earlier stages of the AI revolution. That makes it an attractive buy-and-hold opportunity for long-term investors right now.

On Oct 22, 2025, Lam Research reported its results for the quarter ending Sep 28, 2025 (the “September quarter”) and beat on the Zacks Consensus Estimate by $0.05. Earnings were $1.26 versus the consensus of $1.21.
This was the 14th consecutive earnings beat. Lam Research has only missed once in the last 5 years. That’s impressive.
Revenue jumped 27.6% to $5.32 billion from $4.17 billion a year ago.
The regions of revenue were China at 43%, Taiwan at 19%, Korea at 15%, Japan at 10%, United States at 6%, Southeast Asia at 5% and Europe at 2%.
Gross margin as percentage of revenue rose to 50.6% in the quarter from 48% last year.
Analysts Are Bullish on Lam Research’s Next Two Years
The analysts liked what they heard in the earnings report. 8 estimates were revised higher for fiscal 2026 in the last week.
The fiscal 2026 Zacks Consensus rose to $4.68 from $4.53 which is earnings growth of 13%.
4 estimates were revised higher in the last 7 days for fiscal 2027 pushing the Zacks Consensus up to $5.44 from $5.08. That’s earnings growth of 16.1%.
Shares of Lam Research Break Out to New Highs
Shares of Lam Research are red hot. They have hit a new all-time high in 2025, gaining another 18.2% in the last month. Year to date they’re up 109.4%.
Lam Research is not cheap, but you’re paying for the growth. It has a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 32.4. A P/E over 20 is considered expensive.
However, revenue is expected to be up 11.9% in Fiscal 2026 and another 11.7% in Fiscal 2027.
It also pays a dividend, currently yielding 0.7%.
For investors looking for a red-hot technology stock with rising earnings estimates, Lam Research is one to keep on the short list.
Helen of Troy Ltd. recently issued weak full year guidance as it struggles with tariffs and slower consumer demand. This Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell) is trading near its 5-year lows.
Helen of Troy is a global consumer products company with a bunch of well-known brands including OXO, Hydro Flask, Osprey, Vicks, Braun, Honeywell, PUR, Hot Tools, Drybar and Curlsmith.
Helen of Troy Beat in the Fiscal Second Quarter of 2026
On Oct 9, 2025, Helen of Troy reported its fiscal second quarter 2026 results and beat on the Zacks Consensus Estimate by $0.05. It reported $0.59 versus the consensus of $0.54.
It was the first beat after missing the prior two quarters.
Net sales fell 8.9% to $431.8 million from $474.2 million a year ago. Both of its business segments declined.
Beauty & Wellness fell due to lower sales of thermometers, heaters, and hair appliances. Home & Outdoor saw a decrease in the insulated beverageware and home categories.
Gross profit also declined year-over-year to 44.2% from 45.6% due to a 200-basis point hit from the tariffs and some promotional expenses.
Analysts Are Bearish on Helen of Troy for This Year and Next
In its fiscal Q1 2026 earnings report, Helen of Troy only provided second quarter guidance, and not full year. But on Oct 9, 2025, it finally gave full year guidance. However, it was below the Zacks Consensus.
As a result, 2 estimates were cut for both fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2027 in the last month. For fiscal 2026, the cuts pushed the Zacks Consensus down to $4.29 from $4.62.
That’s a decline of 40.2% from fiscal 2025. But earnings were also down 19.5% in fiscal 2025.
The fiscal 2027 Zacks Consensus Estimate fell to $4.33 from $4.98. This is earnings growth of 0.9%.
Shares of Helen of Troy Fall to 5-Year Lows
Shares of Helen of Troy still haven’t found a bottom. It’s down 90.2% over the last 5 years but is still down 65.9% year-to-date.
It’s dirt cheap on a price-to-earnings (P/E) basis. It has a P/E of 4.75. A P/E under 10 is considered dirt cheap. But sometimes a P/E can be too low and it indicates a trap.
Helen of Troy is not paying a dividend at this time. It has also put in a slew of things to turn the business around including suspension of projects and capital expenditures that are not critical.
It had paused most project and travel expenses in Q1 and that remains in place.
While it is working on mitigating some of the tariffs, it has resumed a targeted purchases of inventory from China in the short term. However, it’s expecting softer consumer demand in the short to intermediate term.
Given all the uncertainty, investors might want to wait on the sidelines for improvement in sales and earnings.

Intel’s products group division brought in $12.7 billion in revenue for the third quarter, a 3% increase from the same period last year. Within this division, the Client Computing Group, which includes PCs and laptops, earned $8.5 billion, up 5% from the previous year.
Intel’s net income totaled $4.1 billion, or 90 cents a share, for the three months ended in September, reversing a net loss of $16.6 billion, or $3.88 a share, in the year-ago quarter. CEO Lip-Bu Tan’s initiatives to cut headcounts and halt certain projects proved effective, improving Intel’s profit margins.
NVIDIA Deal to Boost Intel’s Data Center and AI Growth
In the third quarter, the Data Center and AI division, part of the products group, generated $4.1 billion in revenue, a 1% decrease year over year. However, Intel expects its recent deal with NVIDIA Corp. to jump-start growth in its data center central processors (CPU) business.
Both Intel and NVIDIA are collaborating to develop next-generation data center and PC products for hyperscalers and the broader consumer market. The partnership will integrate Intel’s x86 ecosystem with NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerated computing platforms via NVIDIA NVLink, as noted in the press release.
Intel’s Foundry Business to Benefit From Microsoft Tie-Up
In the third quarter, Intel’s foundry business produced $4.2 billion in revenue, a 2% decline from the previous year. Looking ahead, Microsoft Corp. is expected to leverage Intel’s foundry to develop its own advanced AI chips, which could significantly expand this division.
Microsoft may decide to use Intel’s 18A or 18A-P process for its next in-house AI chip. Nevertheless, Intel has already strengthened its partnership with Microsoft through Windows ML collaboration and Intel vPro integration with Microsoft Intune, as mentioned in the press release.
Here's How to Trade Intel Stock Now
Intel’s strong third-quarter performance and its partnerships with NVIDIA and Microsoft to strengthen its data center and foundry business provide compelling reasons for stakeholders to remain invested in the stock.
Confidence is further bolstered by Softbank and the Trump administration’s $2 billion and $8.9 billion investment, respectively, in Intel, aimed at strengthening the company’s efforts to develop a resilient semiconductor supply chain in the United States.
However, despite the recent upbeat financial performance, Intel’s lofty valuation remains difficult to justify, which could be a potential headwind for the stock in the long run. Based on the price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio, Intel trades at 327.75 times forward earnings compared with the Semiconductor - General industry’s forward earnings multiple of 45.70.
