The Reality Labs segment provides augmented and virtual reality related products comprising consumer hardware, software, and content that help people feel connected, anytime, and anywhere. The company was formerly known as Facebook, Inc. and changed its name to Meta Platforms, Inc. in October 2021. The company was incorporated in 2004 and is headquartered in Menlo Park, California

Artificial intelligence (AI) stocks have been volatile this year, with some companies posting big gains, followed by a recent sell-off in many semiconductor stocks.
But three companies that are still outperforming the S&P 500 year to date are Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM), Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG), and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA).

And there are some good reasons to believe that these three AI stocks could remain solid long-term winners. Here's why.
TSMC wins no matter who leads the AI race
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, widely known as TSMC, is the world's leading semiconductor manufacturer, making about 70% of all processors and nearly 90% of all advanced processors. Essentially, if a large tech company needs AI processors made, it's going to hire TSMC.
That's been a huge boon to the company's chip manufacturing business over the past few years (sales rose 32% in 2025 to $121 billion), and there could be more growth on the way as tech giants boost demand for AI processors. The company estimates that by 2030, the global chip market will be worth $1.5 trillion, with AI processors leading the demand.
One of the unique angles TSMC has in AI is that it benefits from all of the AI processor demand, regardless of who is leading the race. Whether OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta Platforms, Alphabet, or some new AI start-up buys up piles of AI processors, they'll likely be placing their orders through TSMC.
Alphabet's AI ubiquity is already hard to ignore
Alphabet is taking a leading role in AI through its fast-growing Gemini AI model. The company has grown its user base by more than double over the past year to more than 900 million users.
While Gemini may not be as popular as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude, I don't think Alphabet has to have the dominant model to benefit from AI. Consider that Alphabet already attributed the 63% growth in Google Cloud sales (reaching $20 billion) in the first quarter to its expanding AI services.
What's more, Gemini is now implemented across many of Alphabet's services, including YouTube, advertising, Search, Google Workspace, and more. With such a massive reach among its large user base, Alphabet can play the long game with AI and slowly raise prices or introduce new tiers with more AI features to boost revenue.
And investors are already seeing Gemini directly make money for Alphabet. Apple is using Gemini as a core part of its AI model for the new version of Siri and will pay Alphabet a reported $1 billion annually to use it.
Nvidia will likely remain king of AI processors for years
After years of being at the top of many AI investors' buy lists, it may seem odd to continue beating the buy Nvidia drum. But even amid rising competition, Nvidia remains the leading AI processor company. Nvidia has about 86% of the AI data center revenue market share, leaving rival AMD with just 7%.
And Nvidia's sales and earnings continue to impress. Revenue rose 85% in the most recent quarter to nearly $82 billion, and diluted non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) earnings popped 140% to $1.87 per share.
Nvidia's shares are also relatively inexpensive compared to many other AI stocks. Nvidia stock has a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of about 30 right now, compared to 150 for AMD and 62 for Broadcom.
What's more, I think there could be higher demand for Nvidia's processors in the near future as robotics and autonomy industries take off. Nvidia believes there could be millions of humanoid robots in the coming decades that will need high-end processors, and RBC analyst Toom Narayan believes the robotics industry could be worth $9 trillion by 2050.
When you add it all up, Nvidia still looks like a great long-term AI play.

As I write this, 12 publicly listed American companies have a market capitalization of $1 trillion or more, with SpaceX being the newest member of the prestigious club. Software and cloud infrastructure giant, Oracle (NYSE: ORCL), was tantalizingly close to joining them late last year when its market cap topped $935 billion, but its stock has since hit a wall.

Oracle operates some of the fastest, and most cost-efficient data centers for artificial intelligence (AI) training and inference workloads, and it has a gigantic order backlog for computing capacity worth $638 billion. However, there is a real possibility that some of Oracle's top customers won't be able to fulfill their obligations, so investors are treading with caution.
Oracle stock is down 44% from its all-time high, and here's why the dip might not be a buying opportunity.
A leader in the AI infrastructure race
Oracle is building data centers as fast as it can to fill demand for computing capacity from its AI customers, which include OpenAI, Meta Platforms, and Elon Musk's xAI, to name a few. It fills these data centers with thousands of specialized chips called graphics processing units (GPUs), which are supplied by Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices.
Oracle has a few advantages over other cloud providers. First, it prioritizes automation in its data centers, so it can bring them online much faster than competitors who rely on human-centric infrastructure management. Second, it uses proprietary remote direct memory access (RDMA) networking technology, which shifts data between GPUs faster than traditional Ethernet networks.
These attributes result in faster processing speeds and lower costs, which is a winning combination for AI developers who often pay for computing capacity by the minute.
Oracle has also built some enormous GPU clusters, allowing developers to tap into more than 131,000 of the latest chips from Nvidia and AMD. This is a key reason why companies at the forefront of the AI revolution -- like OpenAI -- use Oracle's infrastructure.
A big chunk of Oracle's backlog is from one customer
Oracle generated $19.2 billion in total revenue during its fiscal 2026 fourth quarter (ended May 31), which was a 21% increase from the year-ago period. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) contributed $5.8 billion, which grew at a significantly faster pace of 93%, highlighting the significant demand for data center capacity.
But the headline number in this report was Oracle's $638 billion in remaining performance obligations (RPO), which soared by 363% year over year. RPO reflects the value of signed contracts for services that haven't been delivered yet, so it's similar to an order backlog. Oracle says the $638 billion figure is a good indication of future revenue, but investors should be aware of a few issues.
First, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal from last September, around $300 billion of Oracle's RPO was attributable to OpenAI alone. The start-up raised $122 billion from investors in March, but it only has around $25 billion in annualized revenue and is still posting losses. Therefore, it's unclear how the company will fulfill this enormous commitment to Oracle, especially since it has agreements of similar size with other cloud providers like Microsoft.
Second, Oracle only expects to convert 12% of its RPO into revenue over the next 12 months, followed by a further 34% in the 24 months after that. In other words, less than half of its RPO could become actual revenue over the next three years, which is a very wide window in an industry moving as quickly as AI. Since we are already witnessing cracks in the demand picture, RPO might not be the best indicator after all.
Third and finally, Oracle is carrying over $122 billion in long-term debt, and it just announced plans to raise another $40 billion through a mix of debt and equity. The company is investing heavily to build more AI data centers, which creates a risky situation for investors if that big RPO number doesn't turn into revenue.
Oracle stock looks fairly valued
Oracle generated generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) earnings of $5.83 per share during fiscal 2026, placing its stock at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 31.6. That is a slight discount to the Nasdaq-100 index, which trades at a P/E of 34.6, so Oracle might be close to fair value relative to a basket of its big-tech peers.
However, Wall Street is only forecasting 7.7% earnings growth in fiscal 2027, so there might not be a whole lot of room for upside in its stock over the next 12 months. The Street is expecting much faster growth of 45.7% in fiscal 2028, but it's tough to rely on that prediction with any confidence right now given some of the issues I highlighted earlier.
In summary, investors might want to take a wait-and-see approach to Oracle. If the company continues to deliver positive results over the next few quarters, then there might be an opportunity to take a long-term position in its stock at the right price.

Space Exploration Technologies -- more commonly known as SpaceX -- is the latest hot company to go public, and investors are paying close attention to it. I understand the buzz around the stock, but there are several other investments that I think are better buys right now.
I have three of them, and each represents a different way to outperform SpaceX over the long haul.

1. Amazon: rapid profit growth
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) is one of my top stock picks right now because it's undergoing huge expansion in one business segment. In 2026, management plans $200 billion in data center capital expenditures (capex). It has that money thanks to huge cash flows -- something SpaceX doesn't quite have. (For reference, SpaceX had $20.7 billion in capex during 2025.)
Once those data centers are built and monetized, Amazon will undergo huge profit growth because Amazon Web Services (AWS), its cloud computing wing, has much higher profit margins than its core e-commerce business. AWS made up 59% of operating profits in the first quarter. With that segment expected to undergo rapid growth in the near future and its high operating margin, profits are set to explode over the next few years.
It will likely outgrow SpaceX from this perspective, making it a great stock to buy instead.
2. Meta Platforms: valuation
SpaceX is a very expensive stock. In 2025, the business generated $20.7 billion in revenue, and if management could snap its fingers and instantly generate a 40% profit margin, that would result in earnings of $8.3 billion, at a $1.75 trillion market cap, which would value the stock at 210 times trailing earnings (that don't exist). That's a huge premium for a company that's newly public, and investors should consider some other values out there, like Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META).
Meta operates several social media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads. These generate plenty of advertising revenue and make it very profitable. However, the market doesn't give Meta much of a premium: It trades for 21 times trailing earnings and 18 times forward earnings.
During its last quarter, revenue rose at a 33% pace -- the same growth that SpaceX put up in 2025. For SpaceX to trade at the same price tag as Meta, it would need to maintain its hypothetical profit margin and grow its revenue 10 times from here. That's a huge ask, and makes me lean toward Meta's stock. With Meta trading for a far cheaper price tag, it makes more sense to invest in that SpaceX.
3. Nebius: revenue growth
If you're looking for a real rocket ship of a company, then Nebius (NASDAQ: NBIS) is your ticket. While SpaceX grew at a respectable 33% pace in 2025, Nebius put it to shame. In the first quarter, revenue rose 684% year over year.
And the company is building data centers for artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. It operates as an autonomous business that already has major clients, and it's backed by the titan in the AI industry, Nvidia. There is clearly a huge demand for these facilities, and Nebius aims to expand from $1.25 billion in annual recurring revenue by the end of 2025 to $7 billion to $9 billion by the end of 2026.
That's dramatic expansion, but Wall Street believes it won't just stop at the end of this year. Analysts expect 550% revenue growth in 2026 and 225% in 2027.
SpaceX is nowhere near those growth rates and really has no chance to match them based on its current size. I think Nebius has a much better chance to outperform it over the next few years, making it the better buy now.

Forget SpaceX: 3 Stocks That Are Brilliant Buys Right Now

Most S&P 500 index funds are market-cap weighted.
An alternative approach is an equal-weighted fund.
Both can serve you well, and one looks less risky.
What's the investment I've recommended most often for most people? A low-fee exchange-traded fund (ETF) that tracks the S&P 500 index, such as the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO) or the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: SPY). I suspect many of my colleagues would say the same. Even Warren Buffett has recommended it. In his 2016 letter to shareholders, he noted, "Over the years, I've often been asked for investment advice... My regular recommendation has been a low-cost S&P 500 index fund."
So I'm sorry to point out that it's not a perfect kind of investment. It has some issues.

What's wrong with the S&P 500?
Here's a big one: It's way more concentrated than most people realize. For example, check out its recent top 10 components:

Those weightings may not seem huge until you remember that there are about 490 other companies. These 10 above represent about 2% of the index's holdings but 39% of its total value. So if you invest in the S&P 500 because it's a great way to be quickly and easily invested in 500 of America's biggest companies, you are invested in those companies, but more than a third of your investment is in these 10 companies alone.

As you can see, you won't have much invested in the vast majority of the companies.
That can be OK, though. Maybe you like those tech heavyweights in the top 10 -- which include all of the "Magnificent Seven" stocks (Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla). Maybe you want to invest in the 500 companies, with most of your money going to the biggest. After all, most of them have grown very rapidly over the past few years.
Keep in mind, though, that when there's a stock market crash or correction, as there invariably is now and then, those high-flying growth stocks are often the ones that fall harder. That, too, can be OK as long as you have a very long-term investing period. But it's not ideal.
Is there a better alternative to the S&P 500?
There is an alternative to standard S&P 500 index funds that's worth considering: An equal-weighted one. Standard ones are weighted by market cap, meaning the larger a company's market cap, the greater its weighting. The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (NYSEMKT: RSP), in contrast, is equal-weighted. The 500 components are rebalanced quarterly, so between rebalancings you'll see fluctuations in the weightings as various stocks gain or lose value from day to day and year to year. Note that Micron Technology appears in both top 10 lists, but in the earlier one, it has a 1.67% weighting, while in the fund above, it has a much lower weighting of 0.35%. This kind of index fund has you much more invested in the other 490 stocks beyond the top 10 -- though, of course, each stock has a relatively minor weighting. But every promising stock will have an equal chance of outperforming for you.
An equal-weighted S&P 500 ETF may not grow as fast as a market-cap-weighted one, but during a market downturn, it may hold its value a bit more. Over the past 15 years, this ETF has averaged annual gains of about 12%, while the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF has averaged 14.4%. There's a trade-off, but it's not enormous. Give equal-weighted S&P 500 index funds some consideration.

Have S&P 500 Index Funds, Often Touted as the Best Stock Investments, Become Dangerous? There's a Worrisome Development -- and a Possibly Better Alternative.

SpaceX shares opened at $150 and closed at about $161 on their first day, up about 19% from the $135 IPO price.
Starlink generates the majority of revenue and is the company's only consistently profitable segment.
The stock's valuation already prices in years of rapid growth, leaving little room for missteps.
The debut is done. After 24 years as a private company, SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) is now a public stock, and a volatile one. Shares priced at $135, opened at $150, traded as high as about $177, and closed at about $161 as of this writing -- a gain of about 19% on the day, with the stock continuing to climb in after-hours trading.
That move values the rocket and satellite company at roughly $2.1 trillion, up from the $1.77 trillion the IPO price implied. It makes SpaceX one of the most valuable companies in the U.S. on day one, ahead of names like Meta Platforms and founder Elon Musk's own Tesla.

So the interesting question is no longer whether the IPO would succeed. It clearly did. The question for anyone watching the ticker now is whether buying after a 19% pop is a disciplined move or a foolish chase.
Here's a closer look at both sides.
The bull case
Start with Starlink, the satellite internet business that does most of the heavy lifting. SpaceX's initial public offering (IPO) disclosures show the connectivity segment, primarily driven by Starlink, generated about $11.4 billion in revenue in 2025, about 61% of the company's total, and it is the only segment producing consistent profits -- roughly $4.4 billion in operating income, or an operating margin of about 39%.
And the subscriber growth has been steep. Starlink ended 2023 with about 2.3 million subscribers, a figure that climbed to about 8.9 million by the end of 2025 and surpassed 10 million by the first quarter of 2026. The company also has pricing levers it has barely started to pull. After letting average revenue per subscriber fall about 18% to roughly $81 a month between 2023 and 2025 to win volume, SpaceX raised some Starlink prices by up to $10 a month in May.
Then there's the launch business, where SpaceX is dominant in a way few companies are dominant in anything. The company said its rockets accounted for more than four-fifths of all mass launched into orbit in 2025. That is the kind of position that is extraordinarily hard for a competitor to replicate, and it underpins the scarcity argument that helped drive demand for the shares.
There is also the simple fact that there is no other public stock quite like this one. Investors who want exposure to commercial space, satellite broadband, and Musk's broader ambitions now have a single way to get it. That uniqueness arguably commands a premium on its own.
The risks a day-one buyer takes on
But a great business and a great stock are not the same thing, and the gap between the two has rarely looked wider than it does here.
Start with valuation. At about $2.1 trillion, SpaceX trades at well over 100 times its 2025 revenue. For perspective, that is a multiple usually reserved for far smaller companies in the earliest innings of growth, not one of the largest companies in the country. And SpaceX isn't profitable on a consolidated basis. After folding in Musk's AI venture xAI, which it acquired in February 2026, the company posted a net loss of about $4.9 billion in 2025 and a loss of about $4.3 billion in the first quarter of 2026 alone. The AI segment is consuming Starlink's profits and then some.
And a price like this leaves essentially no room for error. It assumes Starlink keeps compounding, the launch business stays unrivaled, and the unprofitable AI unit eventually turns into something that justifies the spending.
There is also the matter of supply. SpaceX structured its lockup unusually, letting some shareholders begin selling portions of their holdings within weeks of the IPO rather than waiting the typical 180 days. Early shareholders can sell 20% of their shares around the company's first quarterly report covering the second quarter, with additional tranches unlocking later in the year. That means a meaningful wave of shareholder selling could arrive well before year-end, which could pressure the stock.
And then there's the volatility a newly public megacap brings. Shares swung from up 11% to up more than 30% and back within a single session. The business is also closely tied to one founder who runs several other companies.
Buy now or wait?
So, post IPO, is SpaceX stock a buy?
I don't think this is the moment to chase it. The business is remarkable, and Starlink alone may justify a massive valuation someday. But the current price already assumes a lot goes right, and the unusual lockup structure, combined with the stock's borderline egregious valuation, could create better entry points down the road.
I'd rather be patient here than chase post-IPO gains.

SpaceX Stock Closed Up 19% in Its First Day Of Trading. Should Investors Buy, or Wait for the Hype to Cool?

Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) is dealing with a lot of pressure right now. The social media giant's stock is down more than 13% as of June 10, largely due to mounting regulatory issues and investors' growing skepticism about spending on artificial intelligence (AI). But long-term investors willing to look past recent turbulence may find that Meta is a worthy buy right now, given its low price.
This isn't meant to discount the very real challenges Meta faces at the moment. Particularly in Europe, regulators are enforcing the Digital Markets Act, which threatens Meta's margins with fines and changes to data policies.

On the spending side, Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is committed to his AI infrastructure plan. Capital expenditures are substantial and perhaps hard to justify. After the failure of his Metaverse initiatives, investors and analysts are a bit more skeptical for good reason.
On the bright side, Meta's business is still incredibly strong. Its advertising platform, spanning Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, reaches nearly half the global population. That level of scale is not easily replicated or replaced. In the first quarter of 2026, advertising revenue exceeded $55 billion, with total Meta revenue reaching $56.3 billion.
If Meta is successful with its AI ambitions, it could further boost the ad business in addition to wider adoption of its Llama models in other industries.
Meta's stock is better priced than some of its peers. Even with a market cap topping $1 trillion, Meta's forward P/E ratio is just 18, and its PEG ratio is 0.82, which suggests the stock may be undervalued right now. Its price-to-sales, price-to-book, and enterprise value-to-revenue ratios are all in the single digits.
No doubt, the company faces significant short- and intermediate-term headwinds, but if its AI strategy pays off and the advertising business continues to flourish, buying now while the stock is down is a solid move.

Why Meta Platforms Might Be a Good Buy Right Now

Some of the technology world's biggest spenders had a rough week. Oracle sank by a double-digit percentage after pairing record quarterly results with plans to raise tens of billions of dollars in additional financing for its artificial intelligence (AI) data center build-out. Chip stocks fell hard, too, as investors questioned when all of this spending starts paying for itself.
Some investors may think the best way to diversify away from these AI companies is to venture beyond tech. But I actually think one of tech's biggest names offers some good balance to stocks like this. I'm talking bout the $4.3 trillion iPhone-maker: Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).

Apple has been flagged by some investors in recent years as behind "behind" on AI as other tech giants spend far more to capitalize on opportunities in the AI era. But what if this is actually a strength?
A spending gap in the hundreds of billions
Apple's capital expenditures in fiscal 2025 (the period ended Sept. 27, 2025) totaled about $12.7 billion. Its mega-cap peers -- Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta Platforms, and Amazon -- combined to spend more than $400 billion on the same line item in calendar 2025.
And the gap is set to widen. Amazon alone expects its capital spending to reach about $200 billion this year -- about 16 times what Apple spent in its most recent fiscal year.
But this doesn't mean Apple is ignoring AI. The company is simply approaching it differently. At its developers conference on Monday, Apple unveiled its long-awaited Siri overhaul, powered by Alphabet's Gemini models under a partnership that reportedly costs about $1 billion per year, with the new software arriving this fall. Additionally, Apple's AI effort seems to run largely through its operating budget: research and development spending was $34.6 billion in fiscal 2025 -- nearly three times its capital expenditures -- and it climbed 33% year over year in the company's most recent quarter.
And while peers borrow to build, Apple keeps handing cash back to shareholders. Alongside its fiscal second-quarter results in April (the period ended March 28, 2026), the company announced a new $100 billion share repurchase authorization and raised its dividend 4%. The quarter itself was Apple's best March quarter ever, with revenue climbing 17% year over year to $111.2 billion and earnings per share jumping 22%.
"Our strong business performance during the March quarter generated over $28 billion in operating cash flow and drove new March quarter records for both operating cash flow and EPS," said Apple chief financial officer Kevan Parekh in the company's fiscal second-quarter earnings release.
In other words, the cash that rivals are pouring into data centers is, at Apple, still flowing to shareholders.
The case against patience
Of course, there's a less flattering version of this story.
Apple's revamped Siri runs on models built by a direct rival rather than on technology Apple owns. If AI assistants become the main way people interact with their devices, depending on Alphabet for that critical layer could prove costly. The rival, in effect, now sits inside the product Apple's customers talk to.
And the stakes are enormous. Apple's installed base has surpassed 2.5 billion active devices. That base is a key part of the company's moat -- and it's also what could erode if a competitor's assistant becomes the one consumers actually prefer.
What to watch
Investors should watch two things from here.
The first is how quickly users embrace the new Siri once it ships this fall. This could be revealed in any management commentary in the first quarterlyearnings callfollowing the release of Siri AI.
The second main factor to watch is whether iPhone and services momentum holds up in the upcoming quarterly reports. Sustained double-digit growth in both iPhone and services revenue would suggest customers are buying into Apple's AI strategy.
For now, I think the past week strengthens Apple's case.
Restraint can look like timidity when AI infrastructure stocks are soaring. But when the market starts questioning the spenders' debt loads and cash burn, that same restraint starts to look like discipline. Sure, Apple may still need to prove it can deliver great AI experiences. But isn't letting someone else shoulder hundreds of billions in spending -- while you keep the customer relationship -- the kind of position most businesses dream of?

Apple Is Mostly Sitting Out the AI Spending Arms Race. With AI Stocks Selling Off, That Suddenly Looks Smart.

The numbers behind the artificial intelligence (AI) build-out keep getting bigger. On Tuesday, chip designer Broadcom announced a financing platform with investment giants Apollo Global Management and Blackstone designed to enable more than 20 gigawatts of AI compute capacity through 2028, launching with an initial $35 billion tranche.
Even automakers want in. General Motors said this week it is developing a sodium-ion battery (a chemistry built on abundant sodium rather than scarcer lithium) aimed at energy storage for data centers and the grid.

All of this demand is landing on an electric grid that can take years to expand. Securing a grid connection for a large data center campus can be a multiyear wait, and the equipment needed to build new power plants is in short supply. That mismatch is where Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE), GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV), and Vistra (NYSE: VST) come in.
Here's a closer look at how each company is positioned to power the build-out.
1. Bloom Energy
Bloom makes solid oxide fuel cells -- systems that generate electricity on-site from natural gas without combustion -- letting data centers skip the wait for a grid hookup. Bloom's first-quarter revenue soared 130% year over year to $751.1 million, driven by a 208% jump in product revenue. The company also posted net income of $70.7 million, reversing a year-ago loss. And management raised its full-year outlook, now expecting 2026 revenue of $3.4 billion to $3.8 billion -- about 80% growth at the midpoint, up from prior guidance of about 60%.
In April, Oracle said Bloom fuel cells will fully power Project Jupiter, its AI data center campus in New Mexico, with up to 2.45 gigawatts of capacity, replacing the gas turbines and diesel generators originally planned for the site. Notably, management said more than half of Bloom's data center backlog comes from customers other than Oracle.
"Bloom is rapidly becoming the standard and go-to choice for on-site power," said Bloom founder and CEO KR Sridhar during the company's first-quarter earnings call.
2. GE Vernova
While Bloom helps data centers bypass the grid, GE Vernova supplies the grid itself -- along with the gas turbines utilities are waiting in line to order. The power equipment maker's first-quarter orders surged 71% on an organic basis to $18.3 billion, pushing its total backlog to $163 billion. Its gas turbine backlog and slot reservation agreements grew from 83 gigawatts to 100 gigawatts in a single quarter, and management now expects to reach at least 110 gigawatts by the end of 2026.
GE Vernova's electrification segment, which makes grid equipment like transformers and switchgear, booked $2.4 billion of equipment orders to support data centers during the first quarter -- more than in all of 2025. Further, the company's free cash flow more than quadrupled year over year to $4.8 billion, and management raised its 2026 guidance.
3. Vistra
Vistra is one of the largest competitive power producers in the U.S., with a generation fleet spanning natural gas and nuclear. And AI's biggest spenders are locking up that fleet years in advance. Last year, the company signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Amazon's cloud unit for up to 1,200 megawatts of nuclear power from its Comanche Peak plant in Texas. It also signed 20-year agreements to supply Meta Platforms with 2,609 megawatts of nuclear energy and capacity from its plants in the eastern U.S.
The company is adding natural gas capacity, too, with its pending acquisition of about 5,500 megawatts of generation from Cogentrix, targeted to close in the second half of this year. Last month, Vistra reported first-quarter ongoing operations adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of about $1.5 billion and reaffirmed its full-year forecast of $6.8 billion to $7.6 billion.
What could trip up the power trade
Of course, these stocks face risks. Project timing, for instance, is one. In fact, Bloom Energy shares fell this week after a partner reportedly paused work on a data center site in Wyoming. Additionally, these companies operate in highly regulated markets.
The bigger risk may be the demand side itself. All three stocks have rallied on the assumption that AI capital expenditures keep climbing, and AI infrastructure stocks have pulled back recently on concerns about the pace of that spending. If the build-out decelerates meaningfully, backlogs could stop growing and these valuations could compress quickly.
Still, the demand signals keep arriving week after week, and from new directions -- financiers one day, automakers the next. For investors who believe the electricity bottleneck is real and durable, these three companies arguably offer a more grounded way to invest in the AI boom than chasing the chipmakers themselves.

The agentic AI era approaches
Analysts at Bank of America expect the global server central processing unit (CPU) market to grow almost fivefold to over $170 billion by 2030, driven by a forthcoming boom in agentic AI applications.
While AI model training largely relies on graphics processing units (GPUs) designed by the likes of Nvidia, CPUs perform well during certain segments of AI agent workflows, such as control logic, plan execution, coordination, and scheduling.
Intel and AMD dominate the server CPU market, making them well-positioned to profit from this global megatrend. Yet Arm also stands to benefit. The chip architecture developer recently unveiled its new AGI CPU, which is specifically designed to power next-gen AI infrastructure.
More ways for investors to profit
Bank of America's analysts are also optimistic about Intel's foundry business. In addition to designing and building its own chips, Intel has opened its chip manufacturing services to other tech giants. Intel is reportedly in discussions with Apple to potentially make some of the chips in its popular devices.
Meanwhile, analysts at Citigroup believe AMD could wrestle away some market share from Nvidia in the GPU arena, driven in part by its chip supply deals with social media and AI powerhouse Meta Platforms.
