SpaceX is uniquely positioned to build and deploy orbital AI data centers
SpaceX (short for Space Exploration Technologies) breaks its business into three operating segments: space, connectivity, and artificial intelligence (AI).
1. Space
SpaceX has revolutionized space travel. In 2015, the Falcon 9 -- the world's first orbital-class rapidly reusable rocket -- successfully landed on Earth after being launched into space. No other company replicated that feat until Blue Origin in 2025. SpaceX aims to further cement its lead with the Starship system.
Starship will be the first fully and rapidly reusable spacecraft. It comprises a reusable first stage (Super Heavy booster) and second stage (the spacecraft), both engineered to return to the launch tower after flight, where they are caught in mid-air by mechanical arms. The company says Starship will reduce launch costs by 99% versus the historical average.
2. Connectivity
SpaceX could revolutionize the internet and mobile industries with Starlink, a constellation of about 10,000 broadband satellites that currently serves about 12 million subscribers. Starlink is already the largest satellite internet service, but it could eventually dominate the broader communications industry.
CEO Elon Musk says the Starlink constellation will ultimately expand tenfold to include more than 100,000 satellites. "If growth continues, Starlink will one day carry the majority of internet traffic. At that point, it is the internet and everything just connects to Starlink."
3. Artificial intelligence
SpaceX recently merged with xAI, an artificial intelligence research lab. The registration statement (Form S-1) states: "We own and operate what we believe to be the largest AI training data center clusters on Earth, including Colossus I and Colossus II." xAI also develops Grok frontier models and enterprise AI applications.
The company recently signed two big deals. It will provide compute capacity to Anthropic for $1.25 billion per month, and it will provide compute capacity to Alphabet's Google for $920 million per month. Those deals are worth $26 billion per year, which represents a material acceleration from the $3.2 billion in sales xAI reported in 2025.
Here's the big picture: SpaceX is unique in its vertical integration. No other company brings together the launch capacity, connectivity technology, and AI infrastructure needed to build and run orbital data centers. Musk believes orbital data centers (i.e., powered by the sun and cooled by space) will solve the energy constraints of terrestrial data centers.
Collectively, SpaceX estimates its total addressable market at $28.5 trillion. That figure includes $370 billion from space mission and launch services, $1.6 trillion from Starlink broadband and mobile services, and $26.5 trillion from AI infrastructure and applications.
History says SpaceX's stock will drop sharply during its first year on the public market
SpaceX will be the largest IPO on record, with an initial market capitalization of $1.77 trillion. That alone is not an issue, but it implies an absurdly expensive valuation. The company reported $19.3 billion in revenue in the past year, bringing its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio to 92.
For context, Palantir Technologies is the most expensive stock in the S&P 500 at 63 times sales. But SpaceX is going public at a valuation 46% higher, leaving plenty of downside risk, especially since large IPOs have historically declined in their first year on the market.

As shown above, the 10 largest U.S. IPO stocks declined by an average of 21% during their first year. That may surprise readers, as IPO stocks (especially highly anticipated ones like SpaceX) frequently skyrocket on the first trading day. But they often give back those gains and then some.
More importantly, disappointing post-IPO returns are not limited to a single year for companies that go public with large market caps. The 10 largest U.S. IPO stocks (shown in the chart above) have underperformed the S&P 500 by an average of 99 percentage points since listing shares.
So, should you buy the SpaceX IPO? My answer is no. History suggests the stock could drop sharply in its first year and may underperform the S&P 500 in the long run. That doesn't mean you should forget about SpaceX. Instead, be patient and wait for more attractive buying opportunities.

Should You Buy the SpaceX IPO? History Says the Stock Will Make a Big Move in the First Year.

It has been about a month since the last earnings report for Hain Celestial (HAIN). Shares have lost about 18.6% in that time frame, underperforming the S&P 500.
Will the recent negative trend continue leading up to its next earnings release, or is Hain Celestial due for a breakout? Well, first let's take a quick look at its most recent earnings report in order to get a better handle on the recent drivers for The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. before we dive into how investors and analysts have reacted as of late.
Hain Celestial Loss Narrows in Q3, Sales Decline Y/Y
Hain Celestial delivered third-quarter fiscal 2026 results that beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate for an adjusted loss but missed the same for revenues. The company’s performance reflected ongoing volume and mix pressure and portfolio effects from the recent North American snacks divestiture.
HAIN reported an adjusted loss of 1 cent per share, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate for an adjusted loss of 2 cents and declining from adjusted earnings of 7 cents reported in the prior-year quarter. Net sales were $338.4 million, lagging the consensus of $353 million and falling 13% year over year as volume/mix weakness and divestiture impacts outweighed pricing.
Organic net sales decreased 6% from the prior-year period, driven by an 11-point decline in volume and mix that more than offset a 5-point benefit from pricing. The mix shift underscored continued demand pressure across key categories even as the company leaned on price actions to protect dollars.
Management emphasized operational execution and indicated that profitability improved sequentially, helped by portfolio actions and ongoing productivity initiatives. Still, the quarter’s organic contraction shows that volume recovery remains a central swing factor for the near-term story.
Gross Margin Contracts Despite Pricing Actions
Adjusted gross profit declined to $71 million from $85.2 million in the prior-year quarter. The adjusted gross margin contracted 90 basis points year over year to 21% due to cost inflation and unfavorable volume mix, partly offset by productivity savings and pricing actions.
SG&A expenses declined 6.1% year over year to $59.1 million from $62.9 million in the year-ago quarter, mainly driven by lower employee-related expenses. However, SG&A as a percentage of net sales increased to 17.5% from 16.1% in the prior-year period. Management also noted that stranded cost impacts tied to the snacks divestiture were negligible during the third quarter.
Adjusted EBITDA decreased 22% year over year to $26 million from $34 million in the prior-year quarter. The adjusted EBITDA margin contracted 90 basis points to 7.8%.
North America Declines Outpace International Trends
North America’s net sales were $171 million and declining 23% year over year, with organic net sales down 3%. The reported decline was mainly due to weakness in baby & kids, partially offset by growth in beverages.
Adjusted EBITDA in the segment was $17 million, down 1% year over year, while the adjusted EBITDA margin improved 220 basis points to 10%. The gross margin expanded 100 basis points to 23.4%, supported by pricing and productivity initiatives. Management noted that, excluding the snacks business, North America would have delivered stronger profitability, with a gross margin of 30%.
International’s net sales were $167 million and falling 1% year over year. Organic net sales declined 8%, driven by softness in meal prep and baby & kids categories. The geographic split highlights that demand headwinds were not confined to one market, though currency provided a partial cushion outside the U.S.
Adjusted EBITDA declined 12% to $20 million and the adjusted EBITDA margin contracted to 11.7% from 13.2% in the prior-year quarter. The gross margin decreased 270 basis points to 18.5%, impacted by inflationary pressures and lower volumes.
Hain Celestial’s Category Performance
In the Snacks category, organic net sales declined 7% year over year following the divestiture of the North American snacks business. The category primarily consists of jellies within the International segment.
Organic net sales in Baby & Kids decreased 14% year over year, mainly reflecting continued industry-wide softness in purees in the U.K., as well as weakness in purees and formula in North America. However, growth in finger foods across both regions and cereal in North America partially offset the decline.
Beverages remained relatively resilient, with organic net sales remaining flat year over year. Growth in tea in North America and private-label non-dairy beverages in the International business was offset by weakness in branded non-dairy beverages.
For Meal Prep, organic net sales declined 5% year over year due to weakness in pantry brands in North America, including oil, soup and nut butter products, along with softness in spreads and drizzles in the U.K. Strength in yogurt in North America partly offset the decline.
Management highlighted innovation as a major focus area, with product launches across Celestial Seasonings wellness teas, Earth’s Best finger foods, Greek Gods yogurt and Ella’s Kitchen products supporting brand momentum. The company also emphasized accelerated renovation initiatives in the Hartley’s and Yorkshire Provender brands within its International segment.
Cash Flow & Debt Reduction Act as Bright Spots
The company ended the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $44.3 million. Total debt stood at $549.5 million at quarter-end, down significantly from $704.8 million at the beginning of the fiscal year, while total stockholders’ equity was $215.5 million. Net debt declined to $505 million from $650 million at the beginning of fiscal 2026, reflecting strong cash generation and debt-reduction efforts.
The company also highlighted that it had $196 million in available liquidity under its revolving credit facility and remained in compliance with all credit agreement covenants. Management noted that leverage stood at 4.3X during the quarter, comfortably below the covenant limit of 5.5X, while reiterating its disciplined capital allocation strategy and continued focus on debt reduction.
Net cash provided by operating activities was $38.3 million in the fiscal third quarter compared with $4.6 million in the prior-year period, reflecting improved working capital management and stronger operating discipline.
The free cash flow was an inflow of $34.5 million during the quarter against an outflow of $2.3 million in the prior-year period. Management highlighted that stronger free cash flow generation remains a key priority as the company continues to focus on balance-sheet improvement and deleveraging initiatives.
HAIN’s Strategic Review & Outlook
Hain Celestial stated that its ongoing strategic review has produced a multi-stage plan focused on materially improving liquidity and reducing leverage while enhancing long-term shareholder value. Management described the sale of the North American snacks business as an important first step in this process and noted that the company continues to pursue additional initiatives, including further asset sales and operational improvement actions.
The company also confirmed that it remains actively engaged with lenders as it evaluates potential strategic transactions and refinancing alternatives. Management expressed confidence in its ability to refinance, extend or repay outstanding debt before maturity, while aligning the timing of any maturity solution with execution of the broader strategic plan.
Regarding fiscal 2026, Hain Celestial reiterated that it is not providing numeric guidance due to uncertainty surrounding the timing and outcome of the strategic review. However, management expects the divestiture of the North American snacks business to be both gross margin and EBITDA accretive. The streamlined North American portfolio is projected to generate a gross margin above 30% and an EBITDA margin in the low-double-digit range in fiscal 2026. The company also expects a positive free cash flow for fiscal 2026.
For fiscal 2027, management emphasized that its key priorities will include stabilizing sales through execution of its “five actions to win” strategy, improving gross and EBITDA margins compared with fiscal 2026, generating stronger cash flow, and fully eliminating stranded costs associated with the snacks divestiture. The company added that the formal fiscal 2027 guidance is expected to follow the completion of the strategic review process.

IPO stocks frequently jump on their first trading day. Between 2016 and 2025, over 1,100 companies listed shares on U.S. exchanges, and their stock prices increased by an average of 25% on day one, according to Jay Ritter, director of the IPO Initiative at the University of Florida.
However, the initial excitement eventually fades, and selling pressure increases as lock-up periods expire, giving insiders an exit strategy. That trend is particularly evident with larger companies. The lesson for investors is crystal clear: Rather than participate in those IPOs, it would have been more lucrative to buy an S&P 500 index fund. And the same is probably true of the SpaceX IPO.
SpaceX will go public with a very expensive valuation of 92 times sales. For context, Palantir Technologies is currently the most richly valued stock in the S&P 500 at 62 times sales. But SpaceX stock will be 48% more expensive when it starts trading, leaving plenty of downside.
Morningstar analyst Nicolas Owens estimates SpaceX's fair value at $780 billion, implying 56% downside from its IPO valuation of $1.77 trillion. That does not mean the stock will crash immediately. CNBC's Jim Cramer thinks the company's market value could rapidly climb to $5 trillion following the IPO.
Here's the bottom line: SpaceX, with an initial valuation of $1.77 trillion, will be the largest IPO on record. The stock may initially rocket higher, but history says it will underperform the S&P 500 over the long run. 1. Mondelēz International
Mondelēz International (NASDAQ: MDLZ) is one of the most globally distributed consumer brands on Earth. Cadbury. Oreo. Ritz. Triscuit. Chips Ahoy. Milka. Toblerone. The company sells in more than 150 countries and generates about 40% of its revenues from high-growth emerging markets -- Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America -- markets that have been growing at a compound annual rate of 13.4% over the past five years.
Most investors think of Mondelēz as a U.S. snack company. It is really a developing-world growth story wearing a Cadbury wrapper.
The reason the stock has been punished (down more than 30% at times) is simple and worth understanding clearly. Cocoa prices surged to historic highs in 2024 and 2025, and since chocolate is one of the company's core categories, that hit margins hard. In 2025, adjusted earnings per share (EPS) declined roughly 14% at constant currency -- a bad number that sent the stock down more than 30% from its recent highs. Shares currently trade around $60 to $61, and the stock is off significantly from the levels it held just two years ago.
But here is what the sell-off misses: Cocoa prices have already started falling sharply. By early 2026, cocoa was down more than 50% from its highs. That cost tailwind has not yet shown up in the income statement, but it will. Mondelēz has already reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook, projecting organic net revenue growth of flat to 2% and free cash flow of $3 billion or more. The business is not broken. It ran into a commodity supercycle that is now reversing, and the stock is still priced as if the pain is permanent.
The dividend tells the other part of the story. Mondelēz has raised its dividend for 14 consecutive years, with the most recent quarterly payment set at $0.50 per share. At current prices, the stock yields around 3.2% -- not eye-popping by itself, but layered on top of a business with a 13-year growth streak and $3 billion in annual free cash flow, it represents a very durable income stream.
2. General Mills
General Mills (NYSE: GIS) is not a flashy story. Cheerios, Nature Valley, Annie's, Pillsbury, Häagen-Dazs, Progresso -- these are the products people grew up with and keep buying on autopilot. The company generates more than $18 billion in annual revenue across dozens of countries, has paid dividends continuously for more than a century, and has raised that dividend three times in the past three years.
And yet, the stock is down roughly 40% from its 52-week high. The reasons for the decline are real: Volume has been soft as consumers traded down to private-label options, organic sales declined in recent quarters, and management has been cautious with guidance. None of that is fun to sit through as a shareholder. But General Mills is also not a business losing its relevance -- it is a business in a cyclical soft patch, pricing through a period of post-pandemic inflation fatigue, in a category where consumer preferences almost always snap back.
The more interesting angle that rarely gets coverage is the pet food business. General Mills owns Blue Buffalo, one of the dominant names in premium natural pet food, and in mid-2025, the company moved into the fast-growing fresh pet food category with Love Made Fresh, a new line entering a $3 billion market. Blue Buffalo was acquired in 2018 for $8 billion and has been the company's strongest growth engine. Pet food is a category where consumers are emotionally motivated and brand-loyal in a way that is very difficult for private label to disrupt. A Cheerios buyer might switch to a store brand. A pet owner who believes Blue Buffalo keeps their dog healthy does not.
At a market cap of around $18 billion and a dividend yield now approaching 7% -- a level that, if you pull up any historical chart of General Mills, has always represented a buying opportunity -- this is the kind of setup where the income alone makes the position worth starting.

2 Magnificent Consumer Stocks Down as Much as 30% to Buy and Hold Forever

(RTTNews) - Applied Nutrition (APN.L) said its trading in the current fiscal year to date remains strong. Excluding any contribution from the acquisition of Nutrablend, the Board now expects the Group's fiscal 2026 revenue to be ahead of current consensus market expectations at approximately 148 million pounds, with the EBITDA margin expected to be in line with current consensus market expectations. The Group will provide a further update on performance when it announces fiscal 2026 trading update in August.
The Group has acquired the trade and majority of assets of Nutrablend Group, a US-based sports nutrition manufacturer, for a total cash consideration of approximately 12 million pounds. Following the acquisition, the US operation will have the same vertically integrated model as the UK business.
Separately, Applied Nutrition has entered into a new licensing agreement with Mondelez for the development and manufacture of AN Supps & SOUR PATCH KIDS and AN Supps & SWEDISH FISH branded sports nutrition products for the US & Canadian markets. Applied Nutrition will leverage its formulation expertise, product development capability and new US manufacturing infrastructure to bring a collaborative range of products to market.
Applied Nutrition is currently trading at 262.50 pence.

Applied Nutrition Announces Upgrade To FY26 Guidance; Acquires Majority Of Assets Of Nutrablend

Mondelez International, Inc. MDLZ entered 2026 with global consumers still facing cost-of-living pressure and economic uncertainty. Nonetheless, the company’s first-quarter 2026 update indicates that snacking demand remains broadly resilient, though performance varies by market and category.
Mondelez delivered 3% organic net revenue growth in the first quarter, while volume/mix declined 0.5 percentage points entirely due to package downsizing in select markets. Excluding that impact, the underlying volume/mix was positive, indicating steadier consumer demand than the headline figure suggests.
Emerging Markets offered the strongest evidence of resilience, with organic net revenues up 6.3% and volume/mix rising 0.5 percentage points, led by India and Brazil, along with solid growth in China and Southeast Asia. Developed Markets were mixed but improved, with organic net revenues up 0.8% despite a 1.2-percentage-point volume/mix decline. Europe faced pressure from cocoa-related pricing, revenue growth management and downsizing, while North America grew 0.5%, aided by sequential improvement in U.S. biscuits and strength in convenience, club and online channels.
Category trends also supported the view that snacking remains durable. Biscuits and baked snacks grew 1.7% in the quarter, chocolate rose 5.5%, and gum and candy increased 3.1%. However, chocolate volume/mix declined 2.1%, mainly due to pricing elasticities in parts of Europe, revenue growth management and downsizing actions.

The broader takeaway is that snacking demand has not broken, but it has become more selective. Consumers are still buying into Mondelez’s core categories, especially in emerging markets, while developed markets show a clearer need for sharper price points, pack choices and channel execution. For Mondelez, the first-quarter results suggest that the snacking habit remains intact, even as shoppers become more cautious about how much and where they spend it.

Mondelez's Snacking Demand Looks Resilient Despite Spending Pressure

Mondelez International, Inc. MDLZ is continuing to see strong momentum in its chocolate business despite elevated cocoa costs and ongoing pricing pressure across global markets. The company’s first-quarter 2026 results showed that chocolate remained one of its stronger-performing categories, though volume recovery is still evolving.
Chocolate organic net revenues increased 5.5% in the quarter, supported by growth in both Emerging and Developed Markets. Pricing remained the primary growth driver, while volume and mix declined 2.1%. The decrease mainly reflected elasticity pressures in parts of Europe tied to cocoa-related pricing, revenue growth management actions and product downsizing initiatives.
Europe remains a critical region for Mondelez’s chocolate business. The region’s overall revenues declined 0.6% in the quarter due to softer volumes, but trends improved sequentially through the period. Europe’s chocolate returned to slight volume share growth, supported by stronger Easter execution and improving retail trends.

The company also continued benefiting from strong performance across major chocolate brands, including Cadbury Dairy Milk, Toblerone, Lacta and Hu. Innovation added another layer of support. New launches such as Cadbury Biscoff Egg and Toblerone Very Limited Editions generated solid early demand, with several premium travel retail products selling out during the quarter.
Outside Europe, chocolate demand remained healthy across several international markets. Australia and New Zealand posted robust Easter-related chocolate growth, while Emerging Markets benefited from investments in distribution, innovation and brand expansion. Overall, Mondelez’s first-quarter performance showed that its chocolate business continues to hold up well in a challenging cost environment, supported by brand strength, innovation and resilient seasonal demand.

The latest head-to-head trials show that Lilly’s dual agonist drug leads to ~20% weight loss, while NVO’s single agonist drug achieved ~13% weight loss.
Meanwhile, LLY’s Retratrutide (which cleared FDA phase 2 trials) has shown that a mind-boggling 72% of prediabetics reached normal blood sugar levels after taking the drug. While it’s a stretch to call a company like NVO with $14 billion in quarterly revenue a loser, LLY’s drug is far superior to NVO’s and is likely to continue to be the leader in the group.
