Consolidated inventories (on a per-store basis) as of Aug. 2, 2025, increased 10% year over year on a reported and constant currency basis. The TJX Companies is capitalizing on strong merchandise availability in the marketplace and is well-positioned to deliver fresh assortments to its stores and online platforms throughout the fall and holiday season.
What to Expect From TJX Moving Forward?
For fiscal 2026, The TJX Companies still expects consolidated comparable store sales growth of 3%. The full-year pretax profit margin is projected to range between 11.4% and 11.5%, reflecting flat to down 0.1 percentage point compared with 11.5% in the prior year and the earlier expected range of 11.3-11.4%. In addition, fiscal 2026 EPS is forecasted to be between $4.52 and $4.57, marking a 6-7% increase from the previous year’s $4.26 EPS and the earlier guidance of $4.34-$4.43. Foreign exchange headwinds are expected to have a slight negative impact on EPS growth in fiscal 2026.
For the third quarter of fiscal 2026, management expects consolidated comparable store sales to grow 2-3%. The company projects a pretax profit margin between 12% and 12.1%, reflecting a decline of 0.2-0.3 percentage points from 12.3% in the prior-year quarter. The quarterly EPS is expected in the bracket of $1.17-$1.19, representing a year-over-year increase of 3-4% compared with $1.14 in the year-ago period.
The TJX Companies’ third-quarter and fiscal 2026 guidance assumes that existing U.S. tariffs on imports into the US, as of Aug. 20, 2025, will stay in place through the rest of the fiscal year.
Shares of the company have gained 4.5% in the past three months compared with the industry’s growth of 5.9%.

Investors in Shopify (NASDAQ: SHOP) have gone on a wild ride in the last five years. The e-commerce software and payments platform saw surging growth and a meteoric rise in its stock price during the COVID-19 pandemic before crashing down to earth in 2022. Shares went from close to $170 to below $30 in less than two years. Now, the stock is rising again, hitting recent highs of over $150 after positing strong growth yet again in the second quarter of 2025.

Accelerating global growth
Even though inflation has come down and consumer spending growth has slowed in the United States, Shopify's revenue growth is accelerating. It is doing so by gaining market share of e-commerce and retail spending in the United States while expanding to new markets such as Europe. Last quarter, revenue grew 31% year over year to $2.68 billion, compared to 21% growth in the year-ago period. Payment volume in Europe -- which correlates closely to revenue -- grew 42% and greatly outpaced overall sales.
Why are more and more businesses such as Starbucks and Canada Goose adopting Shopify's software tools? Because of its wide breadth of products that help grow their businesses, outsourcing an important function (having your own online storefront) to a trusted third party. Not every sale is going to come from Amazon, while some companies don't want to sell on broad-based marketplaces at all. Shopify's tools help businesses process payments and grow earnings, which leads to more revenue for Shopify as it takes a cut of every transaction.
This is a self-reinforcing cycle that has helped Shopify's revenue grow from well under $1 billion to $10 billion in less than 10 years, making it one of the fastest-growing businesses in the world.
Expanding products and margin expansion potential
Shopify is not resting on its laurels. It is building new services to grow with its customer base. This includes connections with artificial intelligence (AI) query services to help pull products from its commerce partners when users ask chatbots questions. Everything comes back to driving more sales through e-commerce websites, which has driven total payment volume on Shopify partner websites from under $1 billion in 2012 to $327 billion in the last 12 months.
What's more, Shopify is now moving beyond payments for commerce partners through Shopify Campaigns, an advertising service. These campaigns can go on traditional channels such as Google or Instagram but also on the native Shop application. Shop is a mobile app from Shopify that acts as an aggregator for its e-commerce partners, similar to Amazon. This is a bold new venture in building a consumer-facing application but greatly expands Shopify's addressable market.
Add everything together along with the core tailwind of its e-commerce market share gains and Shopify should be able to grow its revenue at a double-digit rate for a long while. In 2025, it expects to grow revenue between 25% and 30% compared to 2024. Right now, Shopify's operating margin is 15.4%. As a payments and software company with low overhead, increasing scale should lead to improving profit margins for Shopify in the years to come. This can help underlying earnings grow even faster than revenue.
Should you buy Shopify stock?
After looking through the financials, it is clear that Shopify is a great business. This is why the stock price is up 5,000% since its initial public offering (IPO) around 10 years ago.
That does not necessarily make the stock a buy, though.
Shopify's stock trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) of about 76. This metric takes the current market cap of $185 billion and divides it by consensus estimates of $1.84 per share for net income over the next 12 months. This is already factoring in Shopify's expected strong revenue and earnings growth in the coming quarters. It will be many years before this lofty P/E ratio gets down to the average level of 20 to 30 for large-cap stocks listed in the United States.
At a market cap pushing $200 billion and only $10 billion in trailing revenue, Shopify stock looks overvalued, even though the business is firing on all cylinders. You should avoid buying shares of this company after its post-earnings pop.

Should You Buy Shopify Stock After Its Post-Earnings Pop?

Shopify easily crushed its prior conservative guidance when it reported Q2 results.
The company gave an upbeat outlook, saying it has seen no effect from tariffs.
However, the stock's valuation has crept up.
Shares of Shopify (NASDAQ: SHOP) soared after the e-commerce software company reported strong results and issued upbeat guidance, saying an expected tariff effect has not materialized.
The stock is now up more than 40% year to date, and up over 180% during the past year, as of this writing.

Strong results and upbeat outlook
After issuing conservative guidance last quarter, Shopify was decidedly more upbeat this time around. Meanwhile, its second-quarter results easily soared past its earlier cautious guidance. The company grew its Q2 revenue by 31% to $2.68 billion, which was well ahead of the $2.55 billion analyst consensus, as compiled by LSEG.
Gross merchandise volume (GMV) on its platform also jumped 31% to $87.8 billion, led by a 42% increase in international GMV. Europe was particularly strong, with GMV soaring 49%. The company's consumer-facing Shop App, meanwhile, saw GMV skyrocket 140%, helped by artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements.
Overall merchant solution revenue climbed 37% to $2 billion, helped by GMV growth and the increased penetration of Shopify Payments, its payment processing platform. Shopify Payments has expanded into 60 new countries just this year, with multi-currency support now available in 20 countries.
Subscription revenue, meanwhile, increased by nearly 17% to $656 million, helped by higher-priced subscription plans.
Shopify continues to add more large brands to its platform, including Starbucks, Canada Goose, and Signet Jewelers, among others. It said the type of clients it serves keeps expanding, as seen by it adding Boart Longyear, a global leader in mining and drilling services. That's a far cry from the small, drop-ship businesses that Shopify was once known for serving as its primary customer base.
Looking ahead, Shopify forecast third-quarter revenue growth at a mid-to-high twenties percentage rate. That's above the 21.7% growth that analysts were forecasting, according to StreetAccount.
The company said it has not seen any major changes in demand or buyer behavior related to tariffs, although many of its merchants have raised prices. It said any potential effect from the elimination of the de minimis exemption by the U.S. is still early, but that only 4% of its GMV globally is currently shipped under the exemption.
Meanwhile, it is turning to AI to help drive growth. It's created a Shopify Catalog that simplifies the process for apps and AI agents to search and pull product data to make sure results are up to date. It also just launched a Universal Cart, where customers can hold items from multiple stores all in one place.
Is it too late to buy the stock?
Shopify continues to demonstrate strong growth. It's done a great job of moving upmarket, showing the power of its platform. At the same time, it's starting to grow with its customers, as Shopify Payment adoption continues to increase. The company is also constantly innovating, which helps drive revenue for both it and its customers.
It's expanding into new areas, as seen with the addition of Boart Longyear as a customer. Newer areas like offline and business-to-business, which saw its GMV double in the quarter, also continue to show strong growth.
International markets, particularly Europe, were a standout in Q2. With 68% of its revenue coming from the U.S. and Canada, the company has a massive opportunity to continue expanding internationally.
While the company is not immune to a consumer slowdown, thus far, it hasn't seen any effect from tariffs. That's a good sign.
Looking at valuation, Shopify now trades at a more than 18 times forward price-to-sales (P/S) ratio based on 2025 analyst estimates and 15 times 2026 estimates. That's much higher than the 8 to 12 times multiple it has traded at in recent years.
While I like the strides that Shopify is making, I would not chase this recent rally, given its valuation and the weak U.S. job market.

As Shopify Shares Soar, Is It Too Late to Buy the Stock?

Deckers Outdoor Corporation (DECK) delivered an impressive first-quarter fiscal 2026 performance, surpassing expectations and increasing year over year. The standout performances of its HOKA and UGG brands were the key drivers behind the strong results.
However, the footwear company chose not to provide an outlook for fiscal 2026 due to ongoing macroeconomic uncertainties. Nonetheless, the company’s growth strategy continues to pay off, driven by an expanded brand presence and a strengthened direct-to-consumer (DTC) approach. Deckers’ focus on innovation, product development and international expansion has solidified its position, setting the stage for sustained long-term success.
Backed by impressive quarterly results, shares of this Goleta, CA-based company have gained more than 12% in the after-market trading session yesterday.
Deckers’ Quarterly Performance: Key Metrics & Insights
DECK delivered quarterly earnings of 93 cents per share, which surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 68 cents. The reported figure increased from the prior-year quarter’s 75 cents.
Deckers Outdoor Corporation Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
Net sales of this company increased 17% year over year to $964.5 million and outpaced the consensus estimate of $899 million. On a constant-currency basis, net sales grew 7.5%.
Gross profit increased 14.4% year over year to $537.9 million. The gross margin in the quarter contracted 110 basis points to 55.8% from 56.9% in the year-ago period and surpassed our estimate of 54.4%. This decline was primarily due to adverse channel mix with wholesale increasing faster than DTC, higher promotion across UGG and HOKA as projected and elevated freight rates, with partial offsets from positive product mix and favorable foreign currency exchange rates.
The company’s SG&A expenses climbed 11% year over year to $372.6 million. As a percentage of revenues, SG&A expenses stood at 38.6%, down 230 basis points from the last year, primarily backed by positive timing of certain expenses and one-time gains.
Deckers’ operating income was $165.3 million, up 24.5% from $132.8 million in the year-ago quarter. The operating margin increased 100 basis points to 17.1% from 16.1% in the prior-year period.
DECK’s Brand-Wise Discussion
The HOKA brand maintained its impressive performance, achieving a 19.8% year-over-year increase in sales to $653.1 million, which exceeded our projected $609.7 million.
The UGG brand exhibited decent growth of 18.9% in net sales of $265.1 million, which surpassed our estimate of $238.5 million.
Meanwhile, net sales for Other brands, which are primarily comprised of Teva, AHNU and Koolaburra, declined 19% year over year to $46.3 million compared with our estimate of $52.6 million.
Deckers’ Channel & Geography-Wise Discussion
Wholesale net sales increased 26.7% year over year to $652.4 million. DTC net sales inched up 0.5% to $312.2 million, while DTC comparable net sales dipped 2.2%.
Domestic net sales dipped 2.8% to $501.3 million, while International net sales rose 49.7% to $463.3 million.
DECK’s Financial Snapshot
Cash and cash equivalents were $1.72 billion as of June 30, 2025. The company ended the quarter with a total stockholders’ equity of $2.47 billion. There were no outstanding borrowings.
In the fiscal first quarter, the company repurchased 1.7 million shares of its common stock for $183 million at an average price of $109.84 per share. As of July 10, 2025, $2.4 billion remained under the company's stock repurchase authorization.
Sneak Peek Into FY26
Given the macroeconomic uncertainty associated with the global trade policy and difficulty in analyzing the impact on the consumer environment and purchasing behavior, management did not issue a formal outlook for fiscal 2026. For fiscal 2026, from a revenue perspective, Deckers projects HOKA to continue as its fastest-growing brand, UGG to continue to grow, international to surpass U.S. growth and wholesale to outpace DTC in the short term.
From a gross margin perspective, management anticipates a year-over-year decrease from headwinds such as elevated tariffs, higher levels of promotion, upgraded materials on key styles and increased ocean freight rates in the first half. These might be partly offset by selective price increases in the U.S. and partial cost sharing with factory partners.
On the SG&A front, Deckers continues to efficiently manage expenses and boost efficiencies; however, it may deliver a short-term increase in SG&A expense ratio to revenues owing to investment in brands over the long haul. Overall, this will result in a reduced operating margin from 23.6% delivered in fiscal 2025. With a normalized consumer landscape, the company has the ability to deliver leverage in the coming years.
Regarding tariffs, the company assumes Vietnam increases from 10-20%, while facing a total of $185 million of unmitigated impacts to the cost of goods sold in fiscal 2026, up from its earlier guided estimate of up to $150 million. DECK expects recapturing up to roughly $75 million and continues evaluating additional levers for potential mitigation ahead. The company looks to mitigate through price adjustments.
Q2 Outlook For DECK
For the second quarter of fiscal 2026, DECK expects net sales between $1.38 billion and $1.42 billion. HOKA is projected to grow about 10%, while UGG is expected to increase at least in the mid-single digits.
The gross margin is anticipated to decline 250 basis points from that reported in the prior year, led by higher freight costs, increased promotional activity and an unfavorable shift in channel mix as wholesale grows faster than DTC.
Gross margin is likely to be in the range of 53.5-54%, which is down from the last year, mainly owing to higher tariffs for goods shipped into the US, increased promotional activity and elevated freight costs relative to last year's low levels, with partial offsets from the initial price increases effective July 1. SG&A is anticipated to be roughly 33.5% of revenues, reflecting continued investments in brand-building marketing.
Earnings per share are expected between $1.50 and $1.55 compared with $1.59 in the prior-year period. This excludes the impact of any additional share repurchases.
Despite the uncertain environment, DECK remains confident about the strength of its brands, its disciplined operating model and its ability to generate strong profitability and free cash flow. Shares of the Zacks Rank #4 (Sell) company have lost 10% in the past three months against the industry’s 2.7% growth.

Tapestry Hits a New 52-Week High: Is It Time to Buy Into the Rally?

Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) has been a key growth driver, backed by positive comp growth, new openings and robust e-commerce performance. LEVI posted positive global comps for the 13th straight time in the reported quarter. Its innovation pipeline is also robust.
Levi Strauss, one of the world's largest brand-name apparel companies and a global leader in jeans wear posted quarterly adjusted EPS of 22 cents, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 14 cents and surged 37.5% from 16 cents reported in the prior-year period.

In the fiscal second quarter, DTC accounted for 50% of the overall net revenues.
Wholesale net revenues rose 3% on a reported basis to $729.9 million. The metric rose 7% on an organic basis. Beyond Yoga revenues grew 12% on both a reported and organic basis.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for DTC and Wholesale channels was pegged at $692 million and $679 million, respectively, for the fiscal second quarter.
In the Americas, revenues increased 5% on a reported basis and 9% on an organic basis, backed
by double-digit growth in both DTC and wholesale channels. The company’s full-price stores continue to perform outstandingly well, with comp sales rising high single digits. LatAm was up 18%, with broad-based trends across the region and double-digit growth in Mexico. In Europe, revenues jumped 14% on a reported basis and 15% on an organic basis.
In Asia, revenues were flat both on a reported basis and an organic basis, owing to the company’s proactive efforts to improve the structural economics, consisting of reducing sales to less profitable partners in India, taking back a portion of its franchisee business in Malaysia and rationalizing its franchisee base in China. DTC was up double digits and markets, including Japan, Turkey and South Africa, registered sturdy growth. Management projects year-to-date trends to continue, and Asia is on track to deliver mid-single-digit growth for the year.
LEVI’s Margins & Expenses
Gross profit increased 8.8% year over year to $905.8 million. The gross margin expanded 140 basis points (bps) to 62.6% in the fiscal second quarter. This growth was primarily buoyed by lower product costs and a favorable channel mix.
Adjusted EBIT margin jumped 190 bps to 8.3%, driven by gross margin expansion.
Adjusted SG&A edged up 5.4% to $744 million; however, as a percentage of revenues, adjusted SG&A leveraged 50 bps to 54.4%.
Levi Strauss’ Other Financial Snapshots
LEVI ended the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $653.6 million and total liquidity of $1.5 billion. As of June 1, 2025, long-term debt and total shareholders’ equity were $1 billion and $2.1 billion, respectively. Total inventories jumped 15% on a dollar basis. In the six months of fiscal 2025, net cash generated from operating activities was $238 million and adjusted free cash flow was $146 million.
In the fiscal second quarter, the company returned nearly $51 million to its shareholders through dividends, up 8% year over year. At the quarter end, LEVI had $560 million remaining in its existing share repurchase authorization, with no expiration date. As earlier announced, the company plans to utilize at least $100 million of net proceeds from the sale of Dockers to return to shareholders in the form of share repurchases.
For Q3, management has hiked the dividend to 14 cents a share, totaling nearly $55 million in cash, payable Aug. 8, 2025, to the holders of record of Class A common stock and Class B common stock as on July 24, 2025.
What to Expect From LEVI in FY25?
The 2025 outlook is based on continuing operations, with the Dockers business as discontinued operations. This assumes U.S. tariffs on imports from China at 30% and Rest-of-World at 10% for the rest of the year.
LEVI’s fiscal third-quarter reported net revenue growth is expected to be 1-2%, up from (1%) to (2%) anticipated earlier. For the fiscal third quarter, it projects organic net revenue growth of 4.5-5.5% compared with the previous forecast of 3.5-4.5%.
The gross margin is likely to be up 80 bps and the adjusted EBIT margin is likely to be in the band of 11.4-11.6%, up 70-90 bps. Adjusted EPS is envisioned to be $1.25-$1.30, up from $1.20-$1.25.
