It operates through FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, and FedEx Services segments. The FedEx Express segment offers express transportation, small-package ground delivery, and freight transportation services; and time-critical transportation services. The FedEx Ground segment provides small-package ground delivery services. The FedEx Freight segment offers less-than-truckload freight transportation services. The FedEx Services segment provides sales, marketing, information technology, communications, customer service, technical support, billing and collection, and back-office support services. In addition, the company offers supply chain management solutions; and air and ocean freight forwarding and cargo transportation, specialty transportation, customs brokerage, third party logistics and supply chain, and document and business solutions, as well as provides trade management tools and data. The company was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee.

Empire State Goes Negative in December
Expecting another positive month in Empire State Manufacturing (a regional print in and around New York State), followers of this metric may be a tad disappointed: -3.9 is the headline for December, missing expectations for +10 and the +18.7 reported the prior month, which was the highest since November of last year.
This is only the second negative monthly print on Empire State manufacturing over the past six months. The prior six months were a different story: five of six months in negative territory, which helped illustrate the struggles in domestic manufacturing in this region over the recent past. Prices paid dropped by a bigger number than prices received. We hope to see a reversal next month.
What to Expect from Today’s Stock Market
After today’s opening bell, we’ll see fresh results from the latest Homebuilders Confidence survey for December. Over the previous two months, we’ve seen a modest resurgence from the depleted levels over this past spring and summer. Expectations are for a print of 38, same as posted a month ago. Aside from the headline number, this survey will demonstrate the level of ongoing challenges felt among domestic homebuilders, which is likely significant.
Fed Governor Stephen Miran and New York Fed President John Williams are scheduled to make public appearances today, likely to argue on both sides of the current dispute among interest-rate decision making. Miran, on loan from the White House, has consistently advocated for 50 basis-point (bps) cuts to the Fed funds rate, while Williams has voted with the consensus routinely during his tenure as Fed President — first in San Francisco and now New York.
Long-Awaited Jobs Numbers Out Tuesday
Ahead of tomorrow’s open, we expect to see non-farm payrolls reported from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) for the month of November. Expectations are for +50K new jobs created last month, below the threshold needed to account for monthly retirees, and thus amounting to negative jobs growth overall. The Unemployment Rate is expected to climb to +4.5%.
The good news about this is that there’s a low bar to clear for a positive surprise. Because the government shutdown delayed October jobs numbers, we have less of a clear view of the labor market than we normally would. Thus, be prepared for anything, even an unexpected monthly job boost. That, however, may not be met with positive sentiment from market participants, as weak jobs numbers are helping the Fed work down interest rates.
During the course of this week, we do expect some key earnings data from a wide range of industries. These include homebuilders Lennar (LEN) and KB Home (KBH), data storage producer Micron MU, FedEx (FDX) and Nike (NKE). Not bad for the final full trading week of 2025.

Considering we have wound down another quarterly earnings season and are officially into the holidays this year, we do have an eventful market ahead of us. Delayed jobs and inflation reports (due to the government shutdown this fall) will finally be in focus, along with normal-cycle economic reports in this last full trading week of the year and a few off-season earnings reports.
Pre-market indexes are filling in some holes left on Friday’s down-session — starting early trading in the green and moving higher. The Dow is +244 points at this hour, the S&P 500 is +36, the Nasdaq +160 and thew small-cap Russell 2000 is +21 points currently. The 10-year bond yield remains unchafed at 4.17%, and the 2-year has cooled to 3.50%.

United Parcel Service UPS, the Atlanta-based parcel delivery heavyweight, looks highly attractive on valuation grounds. With a forward price-to-sales (P/S) of 0.97X, UPS stock trades at a discount to the Zacks Transportation—Air Freight and Cargo industry and the S&P 500. Rival FedEx FDX trades at a further discount. United Parcel Service currently has a Value Score of B, while FedEx has a Value Score of A.

Further Factors Working in Favor of UPS
Andlauer Healthcare Buyout: In November, UPS finalized its acquisition of Canadian supply-chain firm Andlauer Healthcare Group for $1.6 billion (C$2.2 billion), with the deal valuing it at C$55.00 per share in cash for shareholders.
The acquisition enhances UPS’ presence in the complex healthcare logistics sector. By incorporating Andlauer’s specialized cold-chain infrastructure and capabilities, UPS Healthcare customers are expected to gain from reduced transit times, better end-to-end visibility, broader global coverage and higher quality assurance standards.
UPS’ Dividend Strength Enhances Appeal: UPS places a strong emphasis on returning capital to shareholders, reflected in its consistent record of maintaining or raising dividends every year since its public listing in 1999. At present, the company offers a dividend yield of 6.5%, well above the industry composite average of 4.4%. This higher-than-industry yield is particularly attractive to income-focused investors and underscores management’s confidence in UPS’ cash flow generation and long-term outlook.
Over the past five years, UPS has increased its dividend five times. This is a positive indicator, as companies with a solid history of year-over-year dividend growth often provide greater potential for capital appreciation compared with firms that merely pay dividends. UPS’ robust dividend track record also suggests lower vulnerability to sharp market fluctuations and positions the stock as a hedge against economic or political uncertainty, as well as broader market volatility. UPS expects to make dividend payments worth $5.5 billion in the current year.
UPS’ Buyback Program Lifts Confidence: In addition to cheering investors with regular dividend payments, UPS is active on the buyback front. In 2023, UPS’ board approved a share repurchase authorization for $5 billion. In 2024, UPS bought shares worth $500 million. UPS has already completed the share repurchase target for the current year of $1 billion
Strong cash flow generation is serving UPS well, allowing the company to remain committed to returning value to its shareholders. UPS demonstrates financial strength with $6.3 billion in free cash flow in 2024.
Impressive Earnings History: UPS has outpaced the Zacks Consensus Estimate for earnings in three of the past four quarters, missing the consensus mark on the other occasion. The average beat is 11.2%.
United Parcel Service Price and EPS Surprise
Some Headwinds that Cannot Be Ignored
Low Shipment Volumes: Despite delivering a strong record of earnings surprises, UPS continues to face challenges from weak shipment volumes. U.S. average daily volumes declined year over year in the third quarter as well. According to CEO Carol Tomé, the drop in U.S. volumes was mainly caused by a planned reduction in Amazon AMZN shipments and a deliberate pullback from lower-margin e-commerce traffic.
We remind investors that earlier this year, UPS management reached an agreement in principle with Amazon to cut the latter’s shipping volume by more than 50% by June 2026. As noted by Tomé, Amazon was not among UPS’ most profitable customers. U.S. average daily volumes have remained lower year over year, even through the first nine months of 2025, underscoring the company’s ongoing volume-related challenges.
Trade Woes Hurting International Margins: In the third quarter of 2025, operating profit in the International segment fell 12.8% to $691 million, while margins narrowed to 14.8% from 18% in the prior year. The effects of global trade headwinds were particularly visible in Asia, where shipment volumes declined significantly. Trade volumes on the China-U.S. route plunged 27.1%.
Shifts in trade policy resulted in lower export volumes across higher-margin lanes, even as activity increased in lower-margin routes. This unfavorable change in volume mix pressured international operating margins and added further strain on the company’s forwarding business, highlighting the persistent challenges stemming from global trade realignments.
The De Minimis exemption expired on Aug. 29. This provision had allowed packages valued under $800 to enter the United States without incurring additional duties. Its expiration is expected to negatively impact international markets by diverting volumes away from the China-U.S. trade lane.
Disappointing Price Performance: Headwinds like tariff woes and declining volumes have been constantly hurting UPS stock. Shares of United Parcel Service have plunged in excess of 21% in a year compared with its industry’s 12.5% decline. Rival FedEx's price performance is better than that of UPS.

How Should Investors Approach UPS Stock Now?
While UPS’ valuation appears attractive, its shareholder-friendly policies are also a positive. Additionally, the acquisition of Andlauer Healthcare represents a constructive, growth-focused development.
That said, near-term challenges overshadow these strengths. Ongoing tariff-related uncertainty and persistent volume pressures remain significant headwinds. In light of these risks, initiating a position in UPS at this stage — despite the notable decline in its share price — may be premature.
Maintaining a position in this Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) stock seems like a sensible approach for now, while potential investors may prefer to wait for a more attractive entry point.

Is UPS' Cheap Valuation Reason Enough to Invest in the Stock?

1. Evergy
If you don't live in Kansas or Missouri, you might not be familiar with Evergy (NASDAQ: EVRG). However, if you do live in either of those states, the company is a household name. Evergy provides energy to around 1.7 million customers in Kansas and Missouri through its subsidiaries Evergy Kansas Central, Evergy Metro, and Evergy Missouri West.
I think this stock should be a household name for income investors nationwide. Evergy's forward dividend yield is 3.8%. The energy provider has increased its dividend for 22 consecutive years, including a 4% increase announced last month.
Like many utility stocks, Evergy has delivered solid gains in 2025. Evergy's performance is especially impressive considering the weather headwinds the company faced in the second and third quarters, with what CEO David Campbell called "cooler than normal summer weather."
Over the long term, though, Evergy's prospects remain strong. Both Kansas and Missouri offer tax incentives for data centers, making the states attractive to tech companies. Relative to its modest size, Evergy's backlog of large customers requiring power is one of the largest in the U.S.
2. Prudential Financial
Prudential Financial (NYSE: PRU) has one of the most recognizable slogans of the last few decades: "Get a piece of the rock." The financial services company currently has approximately $1.6 trillion in assets under management and operates in the U.S., Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
The company's dividend has been rock-solid. Prudential has increased its dividend for 17 consecutive years and counting. Its forward dividend yield is 4.7%. The financial services giant also has a manageable dividend payout ratio of 73%.
Granted, Prudential's stock performance has been underwhelming. Shares remain down year to date while the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) has soared by 17%. However, the overall market is priced at a premium, but Prudential isn't. Its forward price-to-earnings ratio is a low 7.8.
Even better, the picture could be improving for the company. Prudential reported record-high adjusted earnings per share in the third quarter of 2025, with growth in every business. Management is focused on improving margins and offering more products and services to retirees, a tremendous growth opportunity.
3. Realty Income
Realty Income (NYSE: O) ranks as the sixth-largest global real estate investment trust (REIT). It owns 15,542 properties in nine countries valued at $61 billion. The REIT has 1,647 tenants representing 92 industries, including familiar names such as 7-Eleven (owned by Seven & I Holdings (OTC: SVNDY)), Dollar General (NYSE: DG), Walgreens, Wynn Resorts (NASDAQ: WYNN), and FedEx (NYSE: FDX).
You won't find many dividend programs as good as Realty Income's. The REIT pays its dividends monthly and has even registered the trademark of "The Monthly Dividend Company." Realty Income has increased its dividend for 30 consecutive years and 113 consecutive quarters. Its forward dividend yield is a juicy 5.7%.
Sure, Realty Income's stock hasn't delivered awe-inspiring gains this year. However, its total return isn't too shabby.
Most importantly, Realty Income offers investors both stability and solid growth prospects. Since listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 1994, its beta is only 0.5, indicating low volatility. The REIT's total addressable market is $14 trillion. Around $8.5 trillion of that total is in Europe, where Realty Income doesn't face significant competition.
