In addition, the company is developing CGRD-001 for the treatment of poisoning by organophosphorus nerve agents or organophosphorus compounds; EBS-LASV to prevent Lassa fever; EBS-MARV to prevent Marburg virus disease; EBS-SUDV to prevent Sudan virus disease; Pan-Ebola mAbs for the treatment of ebola virus; SIAN Antidote for initial treatment of certain or suspected acute cyanide poisoning; UniFlu for immunity against influenza A and B viruses; and WEVEE-VLP for equine encephalitis virus infections. Further, it provides contract development and manufacturing services comprising drug substance and product manufacturing, and packaging, as well as technology transfer, process, and analytical development services. The company was incorporated in 1998 and is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Overall, the picture is rather neutral-to-negative: the stock looks inexpensive on multiples, but earnings quality, profitability stability, and the debt profile currently limit re-rating potential. For an investor, this means the current target price should remain conservative and take into account the risk that the low valuation reflects not only undervaluation but also fundamental business issues.

(RTTNews) - Emergent BioSolutions Inc. (EBS) announced it has received a contract modification valued at approximately $24 million from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The award supports continued supply of CYFENDUS (Anthrax Vaccine Adsorbed, Adjuvanted) for national anthrax preparedness efforts.
Anthrax remains a significant biological threat due to its potential use in bioterrorism and its impact on public health and national security. CYFENDUS, approved by the FDA in July 2023, is indicated for post-exposure prophylaxis in adults aged 18 through 65 when administered with antibacterial drugs.
Emergent emphasized that the modification underscores the government's commitment to maintaining readiness against anthrax threats. Paul Williams, senior vice president at Emergent, noted the company's focus on ensuring access to CYFENDUS and strengthening preparedness through reliable domestic manufacturing and supply.

Takeda (TAK) won FDA approval for ORZEYFUL (oveporexton), the first orexin receptor 2 agonist, for narcolepsy type 1 in adults. The therapy directly targets orexin deficiency, addressing the root cause rather than symptoms, with Phase 3 FirstLight (TAK-861-3001) and RadiantLight (TAK-861-3002) studies demonstrating significant improvements in sleepiness and cataplexy.

Novartis (NVS) received FDA approval for Pluvicto (lutetium Lu 177 vipivotide tetraxetan) in combination with an androgen receptor pathway inhibitor for PSMA-positive metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC).
The Phase III PSMAddition trial showed the combo reduced risk of progression or death by 28%, with updated analysis showing a 33% reduction and positive survival trend. The approval nearly doubles the eligible patient population, making Pluvicto the only PSMA-targeted therapy cleared across all stages of metastatic prostate cancer.

Tarsus Pharmaceuticals, Inc (TARS), a biopharmaceutical company focused on eye care, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a retinal disease-focused biotechnology company, for up to $800 million.
The pending transaction involves $450 million in upfront consideration consisting of $270 million in cash and $180 million in Tarsus common stock priced at $61.38 per share, plus up to $350 million in milestone payments.
The acquisition includes Alkeus' lead candidate Gildeuretinol (ALK-001) in Phase 3 development for Stargardt disease, a rare inherited retinal disorder with no FDA-approved treatment. The acquisition is expected to close in 2026, subject to customary conditions.
TARS closed Thursday's trade at $65.33, up 6.69%.
Evotec SE (EVO) has entered into a strategic research and development collaboration with Odyssey Therapeutics, Inc. (ODTX) to accelerate discovery of new treatments for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases harnessing AI. Under the agreement, Odyssey will leverage Evotec's AI-enabled discovery platform, advanced screening capabilities, and proprietary compound libraries to identify and validate differentiated small-molecule drug candidates across multiple high value disease targets.
EVO closed Thursday's trade at $1.95, down 1.52%. ODTX closed Thursday's trade at $21.55, up 3.16%.
Eton Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ETON) licensed the U.S. rights to ASN-001, a topical timolol gel, from Shanghai Auson Pharmaceuticals, for the treatment of proliferating superficial infantile hemangiomas, a benign vascular tumour. Eton will run a bioavailability bridging study for ASN-001 and intends to submit the New Drug Application (NDA) upon completion of the study in the second half of 2027.
ETON closed Thursday's trade at $46.18, up 0.46%.
KKR, an investment firm, has signed definitive agreements to acquire Medicover India, the hospital operations of Medicover AB (MCOV-B.ST), which specifically operates a multi-specialty hospital network comprising 24 hospitals and approximately 4,800 beds across South and West India. The financial details remain undisclosed.

SRX Global Inc. (SRXH) has acquired a stake in Vistagen Therapeutics, Inc. (VTGN), a late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on neuroscience. SRX said it views Vistagen shares as undervalued and intends to engage with management and the board.
SRXH closed Thursday's trade at $1.43, up 2.88%. VTGN closed Thursday's trade at $0.28, down 4.44%.
Profusa Inc. (PFSA), a digital health company, announced the signing of an option agreement that provides Profusa the right and option to acquire G3 Vision Labs, Inc., which provides testing solutions, clinical insight, and reporting tools for health care teams.
As consideration for the option, Profusa issued 201,120 common shares and 52,903.566 shares of Series A non-voting convertible preferred stock. If Profusa exercises the option, the counterparties will be entitled to receive an additional 53,918.113 preferred shares. Profusa's ability to exercise the option is subject to stockholder approval.
PFSA closed Thursday's trade at $0.93, down 0.20%.
Clearmind Medicine Inc. (CMND) announced that it has entered into a non-binding Letter of Intent to acquire a 51% stake in an intelligent EV (electric vehicles) wireless charging solutions company for automated parking systems and autonomous mobile platforms for an aggregate purchase price of $2.5 million.
Meanwhile, the announcement did not explain the operational or technical relevance of the proposed acquisition to Clearmind Medicine's drug development business.
CMND closed Thursday's trade at $1.75, down 0.57%.
Clinical Trials - Breakthroughs & Setbacks
BioVie Inc. (BIVI) announced that its investigational candidate Bezisterim met its primary endpoint in the Phase 2 SUNRISE-PD trial in early-stage Parkinson's disease, showing statistically significant improvements across motor and non-motor symptoms along with beneficial impact on plasma biomarkers of neurodegeneration and reduced biomarkers of both neuro and systemic inflammation.
In addition, with a well-tolerated safety profile, participants receiving Bezisterim experienced greater improvements than placebo across daily living, motor, and non-motor outcomes, meeting prespecified endpoints and achieving proof of concept, according to the company. With the findings so far, BioVie plans to advance Bezisterim into pivotal Phase 3 development.

Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (RYTM) announced preliminary results from its ongoing Phase 2 trial of RM-718, an investigational once-weekly MC4R agonist, in patients with acquired hypothalamic obesity showing an 11.6% reduction in mean BMI from baseline after 16 weeks of RM-718.
According to the company, RM-718 was generally well tolerated, with efficacy results at 16 weeks comparable to a mean BMI reduction of 10.1% with bivamelagon 600 mg dose at 14 weeks and a 10.1% BMI reduction with setmelanotide at 16 weeks.
RYTM closed Thursday's trade at $112.10, up 1.26%.
Karyopharm Therapeutics Inc. (KPTI) announced that Selinexor did not meet the primary progression-free survival goal in the Phase 3 XPORT-EC-042 trial evaluating it as a maintenance-only therapy in patients with TP53 wild-type advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer. Meanwhile, the company said a favourable trend was observed in the Selinexor arm.

(RTTNews) - Emergent BioSolutions Inc. (EBS), a life sciences company focused on public health preparedness and medical countermeasures, reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026.
Total revenue for Q2 2026 rose sharply to $234.3 million, up 66% from $140.9 million in Q2 2025, primarily driven by accelerated modifications to U.S. government contracts under its medical countermeasures (MCM) and biodefense portfolio.
The company recorded a net loss of $180.2 million, compared to a net loss of $12.0 million in Q2 2025, largely due to a $191.3 million non-cash impairment charge related to its Naloxone business.
Adjusted net income improved to $30.9 million, up 134% from $13.2 million a year earlier.
Adjusted EBITDA rose to $96.5 million, a 192% increase from $33.1 million in Q2 2025, reflecting stronger operational performance.
Gross margin expanded to 50%, compared to 36% in the prior-year quarter, while adjusted gross margin reached 58%, up from 49%.
Adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 41%, versus 23% in Q2 2025, underscoring efficiency gains across manufacturing and contract operations.
CEO Joe Papa stated that the quarter "significantly exceeded the high end of our guidance," citing disciplined execution and renewed focus on transformation. He noted that the company is aligning resources to the realities of the naloxone business while preserving the ability to invest in areas that matter most for Emergent's future."
2026 Financial Forecast
Emergent reduced its full-year 2026 guidance compared with prior expectations issued in April.
-Total revenues are now projected at $645- $675 million, down from the previous forecast of $720-$760 million, compared with $742.9 million in FY2025.
-Net loss is expected at $(245)- $(225) million, widened from the earlier range of $(30)-$(10) million, versus net income of $52.6 million in FY 2025.
-Adjusted net income is forecast at $10-$30 million, cut from $45-$65 million, compared with $86.8 million in FY 2025.
-Adjusted EBITDA is expected at $130-$150 million, reduced from $155-$175 million, compared with $205.0 million in FY 2025.
-Adjusted gross margin is projected at 42-44%, lower than the prior 45-47%, compared with 54% in FY 2025.
- And for Q3 2026 the company is expecting revenue to be in the range of $110- $130 million, compared to $231.1 million in Q2 2025.
Restructuring Update (Form 8-K Filing, August 5, 2026):
Emergent announced an organizational restructuring plan aimed at strengthening its long-term financial position. The plan includes a reduction of approximately 93 employees, elimination of 21 vacant positions, and the closure of wet laboratories in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
These actions are expected to generate annualized savings of about $40 million once fully implemented. The company anticipates $10- $11.5 million in restructuring charges, primarily related to severance, transition services, and benefits, to be incurred in the second half of 2026.
