It offers consumable products, including paper and cleaning products, such as paper towels, bath tissues, paper dinnerware, trash and storage bags, disinfectants, and laundry products; packaged food comprising cereals, pasta, canned soups, fruits and vegetables, condiments, spices, sugar, and flour; and perishables that include milk, eggs, bread, refrigerated and frozen food, beer, and wine. The company's consumable products also comprise snacks, such as candies, cookies, crackers, salty snacks, and carbonated beverages; health and beauty products, including over-the-counter medicines and personal care products, such as soaps, body washes, shampoos, cosmetics, and dental hygiene and foot care products; pet supplies and pet food; and tobacco products. In addition, it offers seasonal products comprising holiday items, toys, batteries, small electronics, greeting cards, stationery, prepaid phones and accessories, gardening supplies, hardware, and automotive and home office supplies; and home products that include kitchen supplies, cookware, small appliances, light bulbs, storage containers, frames, candles, craft supplies and kitchen, and bed and bath soft goods. Further, the company provides apparel, which comprise basic items for infants, toddlers, girls, boys, women, and men, as well as socks, underwear, disposable diapers, shoes, and accessories. The company was formerly known as J.L. Turner & Son, Inc. and changed its name to Dollar General Corporation in 1968. Dollar General Corporation was founded in 1939 and is based in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

Shares of discount retailer Dollar General (NYSE: DG) took a hit on Thursday. The stock fell sharply in early trading, dropping over 9% despite the company reporting fourth-quarter results that exceeded the Street's expectations. By the end of the trading day on Thursday, shares recovered some from their lows but were still down 6%.

Unfortunately, I believe management's outlook for fiscal 2026 leaves a lot to be desired.
A strong finish to the year
Dollar General's fiscal fourth-quarter results, in and of themselves, were solid.
Net sales for the period ended Jan. 30, 2026, increased 5.9% year over year to about $10.9 billion. And this top-line momentum was fueled by an impressive 4.3% increase in same-store sales. Even better, this same-store sales growth was driven by both increased traffic and customer spend. The company reported a 2.6% increase in customer traffic. This was alongside a 1.7% rise in average transaction value.
Profitability was also a bright spot. Dollar General's operating profit skyrocketed 106% year over year to about $606 million -- up from roughly $294 million in the year-ago period. And the company's earnings per share followed suit, surging 122% to $1.93 compared to $0.87 a year earlier. While this massive year-over-year profit jump was aided by an easy comparison (the prior-year period was weighed down by $232 million in impairment and store closure charges), the underlying margin improvements were still there. Gross margin expanded by 105 basis points year over year to 30.4%.
"Our fourth quarter performance was highlighted by a 4.3% increase in same-store sales and continued advancement of our key initiatives," said Dollar General CEO Todd Vasos in the company's earnings release, "which contributed to strong operating margin expansion and [earnings per share] growth that well exceeded our expectations."
The guidance problem
But if the fiscal fourth quarter was so strong, why did the stock sell off?
The answer lies in the company's fiscal 2026 outlook. Management's guidance implies a meaningful deceleration in the retailer's core growth engine.
For fiscal 2026, Dollar General expects net sales growth of 3.7% to 4.2%. And, more concerningly, management guided for same-store sales to increase by just 2.2% to 2.7%. This marks a sharp deceleration from the 4.3% same-store sales growth the company just delivered in fiscal Q4. It also trails Dollar General's 3% full-year same-store sales growth for fiscal 2025.
In short, the company is telling investors to expect slower growth ahead.
The bottom-line outlook reinforces this cautious tone.
Management forecast fiscal 2026 earnings per share of $7.10 to $7.35. While that represents growth from the $6.85 reported in fiscal 2025, the midpoint of this guidance range implies a growth rate of just 5.5%.
Further, the company noted it does not plan to repurchase shares in fiscal 2026.
Is the stock a buy?
With top-line growth expected to cool, the investment case comes down to valuation.
As of this writing, Dollar General trades at roughly 19 times the midpoint of management's fiscal 2026 earnings guidance. While a multiple like this might seem reasonable for a highly durable, defensive business, it still requires the business to deliver consistent, steady growth.
At this valuation, the market is arguably pricing in reliably robust same-store sales growth and stable margins. There is very little room for error if customer traffic stalls and same-store sales weaken.
Overall, Dollar General stock looks decent. It's a cash-generative retailer with significant scale. The risk, however, is that the stock's valuation simply doesn't offer enough of a discount to justify buying into a decelerating growth story.
So, is Dollar General stock a buy, sell, or hold?
I wouldn't rush to sell shares I already owned. But for investors looking to deploy new capital today, the stock doesn't seem cheap enough to buy given its unexpectedly weak same-store sales outlook.

Shares of Costco have risen 2.1% since its second-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings were released. Both revenues and earnings not only beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate but also improved year over year, driven by robust membership growth, resilient traffic, double-digit e-commerce gains and margin expansion. The renewal rate remained healthy at 92.1% in the United States and Canada and 89.7% worldwide.

This approach strengthens customer loyalty and encourages repeat visits. These initiatives complement the warehouse model by allowing customers to shop across multiple channels. Digitally enabled comparable sales surged 22.6% year over year, supported by 32% growth in e-commerce site traffic and 63% growth in app visits. Initiatives such as mobile wallet enhancements, pharmacy pay-ahead, employee pre-scan technology and a pilot of automated pay stations are improving traffic flow and enhancing the member experience.
Costco’s long-term growth outlook remains strong due to its disciplined expansion strategy and global opportunities. The company continues to open new warehouses in attractive markets. During the quarter under discussion, Costco opened four warehouses, including a relocation in the United States, one net new U.S. location and two Canadian business centers. For fiscal 2026, the company expects to open 28 net new warehouses and is targeting 30-plus warehouse openings annually over the longer term to support continued global expansion. This measured expansion approach has led to strong productivity from new locations and sustained growth in membership.

Should Investors Buy Costco Stock After Its Q2 Earnings Beat?

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Thursday closed down -1.52%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed down -1.56%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed down -1.73%. March E-mini S&P futures (ESH26) fell -1.49%, and March E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQH26) fell -1.75%.
Stocks fell sharply on Thursday as a surge in crude oil prices stoked fears that the war against Iran would crimp global fuel supplies and boost inflation. WTI crude oil prices soared more than +9% on Thursday amid widening disruptions to crude production and transport in the Middle East.

Stocks extended their losses on Thursday, and crude prices added to their gains on comments from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who said that Iran’s leverage of closing the Strait of Hormuz should be used, and attacks on Gulf Arab neighbors will continue. He added that Iran will open unspecified “other fronts” in the war if the US and Israel persist with their attacks. Also, comments from President Trump gave crude prices a boost when he said that preventing Iran from having nuclear weapons is "of far greater interest and importance" to him than the cost of oil, a sign that the war in the Middle East isn't close to a de-escalation.
Credit concerns weighed on bank stocks and asset managers on Thursday after Morgan Stanley and Cliffwater LLC capped withdrawals from their private credit funds amid investor demand to redeem more than the funds allow. Private credit funds are grappling with a wave of redemption requests amid growing concerns over the quality of their loans. BlackRock last week decided to limit withdrawals, a move that other asset managers have since followed.
Crude oil prices rallied sharply on Thursday despite the IEA members' decision on Wednesday to release 400 million barrels from emergency oil stockpiles. The IEA said the war against Iran is disrupting 7.5% of global oil supply, and the conflict will cut global oil supply by 8 million bpd this month. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas flows, has choked off oil and gas flows due to Iran’s attacks on shipping in the waterway and forced Gulf producers to cut output because they can’t export from the region. UK Defense Secretary Healey said Thursday that it is increasingly evident that Iran is laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, which could keep the strait closed for the foreseeable future.
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country would need “firm international guarantees against future aggression” to accept a ceasefire as well as reparations. However, comments from President Trump late Wednesday suggest the conflict could continue for weeks when he said that it would be unwise for the US to wind down hostilities too soon.
US economic news on Thursday was mixed for stocks after weekly jobless claims rose less than expected, a sign of labor market strength. Also, Jan housing starts unexpectedly rose to an 11-month high, but Jan building permits fell to a 5-month low.
US weekly initial unemployment claims fell -1,000 to 213,000, showing a stronger labor market than expectations of an increase to 215,000.
US Jan housing starts unexpectedly rose +7.2% m/m to an 11-month high of 1.487 million, stronger than expectations of a decline to 1.341 million. Jan building permits, a proxy for future construction, fell -5.4% m/m to a 5-month low of 1.376 million, weaker than expectations of 1.410 million.
The US Jan trade deficit shrank to -$54.5 billion, narrower than expectations of -$66.0 billion.
Q4 earnings season is nearly over, with more than 98% of the S&P 500 companies having reported earnings results. Earnings have been a positive factor for stocks, with 74% of the 495 S&P 500 companies that have reported beating expectations. According to Bloomberg Intelligence, S&P earnings growth is expected to climb by +8.4% in Q4, marking the tenth consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth. Excluding the Magnificent Seven megacap technology stocks, Q4 earnings are expected to increase by +4.6%.
The markets are discounting a 0% chance for a -25 bp FOMC rate cut at the next policy meeting on March 17-18.
Overseas stock markets settled lower on Thursday. The Euro Stoxx 50 closed down -0.79%. China's Shanghai Composite fell from a 1-week high and closed down -0.10%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 closed down -1.04%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) on Thursday closed down by -18.5 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield rose +3.9 bp to 4.269%. June T-notes fell to a 5-week low on Thursday, and the 10-year T-note yield climbed to a 5-week high of 4.275%. Thursday’s +9% rally in oil prices raised inflation expectations and undercut T-note prices. Also, concerns that the cost of the ongoing war against Iran will boost the US budget deficit are bearish for T-notes. On the positive side for T-notes on Thursday was strong demand for the Treasury’s $22 billion auction of 30-year T-bonds that had a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.45, above the 10-auction average of 2.39.
European government bond yields moved higher on Thursday. The 10-year German bund yield rose to a 2.25-year high of 2.962% and finished up +2.5 bp to 2.957%. The 10-year UK gilt yield climbed to a 6.25-month high of 4.800% and finished up +8.7 bp to 4.773%.
The European Union's economy chief, Valdis Dombrovskis, said the inflation rate could surpass 3% this year, and GDP in the Eurozone could be as much as -0.4 points lower if the war in the Middle East causes crude oil prices to remain around $100 per barrel and gas prices stay elevated for an extended period.
Swaps are discounting a 3% chance of a -25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on March 19.
US Stock Movers
Airline stocks and cruise line operators sold off on Thursday amid a 9% surge in crude oil prices, which are boosting companies’ fuel costs and threatening earnings. Carnival (CCL) and Southwest Airlines (LUV) closed down more than -7%, and Alaska Air Group (ALK) and Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) closed down more than -6%. Also, United Airlines Holdings (UAL), Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH), and American Airlines Group (AAL) closed down more than -4%. In addition, Delta Airlines (DAL) closed down more than -2%.
Chip stocks retreated on Thursday, weighing on the broader market. Intel (INTC) closed down more than -5%, and Lam Research (LRCX), ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), Microchip Technology (MCHP), and Texas Instruments (TXN) closed down more than -4%. Also, Applied Materials (AMAT), KLA Corp (KLAC), Analog Devices (ADI), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Micron Technology (MU), and Marvell Technology (MRVL) closed down more than -3%.

The Magnificent Seven technology stocks fell on Thursday, pressuring the broader market. Tesla (TSLA) closed down more than -3%, and Meta Platforms (META) closed down more than -2%. Also, Alphabet (GOOGL), Apple (AAPL), Amazon.com (AMZN), and Nvidia (NVDA) closed down more than -1%, and Microsoft (MSFT) closed down -0.73%.
Fertilizer stocks rallied on Thursday amid supply disruptions from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. CF Industries Holdings (CF) closed up more than +13% to lead gainers in the S&P 500. Also, Intrepid Potash (IPI) closed up more than +10%, and Mosaic (MOS) closed up more than +7%.
Energy producers and service providers rose on Thursday after crude prices jumped more than +9%. ConocoPhillips (COP), Chevron (CVX), Phillips 66 (PSX), and Valero Energy (VLO) closed up more than -2%. Also, APA Corp (APA), Devon Energy (DVN), Exxon Mobil (XOM), and Marathon Petroleum (MPC) closed up more than +1%.
Netskope (NTSK) closed down more than -21% after forecasting a Q1 adjusted net loss per share of -6 cents to -7 cents, wider than Q4’s -4 cent EPS loss.
G-III Apparel Group Ltd (GIII) closed down more than -11% after reporting Q4 net sales of $771.5 million, below the consensus of $791.8 million.
UiPath (PATH) closed down more than -7% after reporting Q4 subscription revenue of $251.2 million, below the consensus of $252.1 million.
Dollar General (DG) closed down more than -6% after giving an underwhelming 2027 comparable sales forecast of up +2.2% to +2.7%, the midpoint right on the consensus of +2.45%.
GlobalFoundries (GFS) closed down more than -5% after a subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Co. was said to sell as much as $852 million of its stake in the stock overnight at $41.60 to $42.60 per share.
MercadoLibre (MELI) closed down more than -4% after JPMorgan Chase downgraded the stock to neutral from overweight.
LyondellBasell Industries NV (LYB) closed up more than +10% after Citigroup upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $76.
Dow Inc. (DOW) closed up more than +9% after Citigroup upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $40.
Occidental Petroleum (OXY) closed up more than +5% after Wells Fargo Securities double upgraded the stock to overweight from underweight with a price target of $69.

Dollar General's same-store sales rose by 3% for the full year, but it is anticipating a slowdown.
The potential for rising inflation could heavily impact its core customers in the near future.
While the stock has been red hot over the past year, its valuation is a bit high right now.
Shares of discount retailer Dollar General (NYSE: DG) have surged more than 70% over the past year, as it has been a hot buy in retail. That, however, hasn't always been the case for the stock, as generating strong organic growth has proven to be challenging in the past.
On Thursday, the company reported its fourth-quarter earnings numbers. And while they appeared to be strong, they weren't enough to give the stock a boost. Instead, the company's shares declined on the news. Let's look at what may be weighing the stock down and whether its dip in value makes now a good time to add it to your portfolio.

Investors are likely worried about future quarters
For the fourth quarter, which ended in January, Dollar General reported $10.9 billion in sales, up 5.9% year over year and slightly beating analyst expectations of $10.8 billion. Its per-share profit of $1.93, however, blew past Wall Street's $1.66-per-share estimate. Its same-store sales were up over 3% for the full year. But for the next fiscal year, the company does expect that to slow to between 2.2% and 2.7%.
Investors, however, may be worried that the economy could deteriorate due to the war in Iran and its impact on inflation. It's a valid concern, given that CEO Todd Vasos said last year that its customers were struggling and that their financial situation had worsened due to inflation. Dollar General's vulnerable customer base could make it more vulnerable to inflation, and if the company is already projecting a slowdown, its growth rate may be even weaker than expected next year.
I wouldn't buy Dollar General stock right now
It wasn't all that long ago that Dollar General was the stock no one wanted to touch. While it had a good year in 2025, up 75%, in each of the two years prior, it was down more than 44%. It was beaten down and arguably overdue for a bit of a bounce back. But today, with serious question marks about its growth and the stock trading at around 25 times its trailing earnings, it isn't exactly a cheap buy anymore. For single-digit growth, that's a bit of a high premium to be paying.
Dollar General's business could face some adversity in the coming months, and given that risk and uncertainty, the stock should trade at a discount. Since it doesn't, I'd consider other growth stocks instead. While it's up around 2% so far this year, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes much lower.

Dollar General Delivered Strong Q4 Earnings, but Here's Why the Stock Isn't Taking Off

Dollar General Corporation DG reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2025 results, wherein both the top and bottom lines beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate and increased year over year, marking continued operational progress and healthy customer traffic trends. The company delivered steady same-store sales growth, supported by gains across both consumable and non-consumable categories. Despite upbeat fourth-quarter results, DG’s shares have lost 5% in the trading hours.

Dollar General posted quarterly earnings of $1.93 per share, which came ahead of the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.61. The bottom line skyrocketed 121.8% from the prior-year period.
Net sales of $10,911.2 million rose 5.9% year over year and came ahead of the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $10,785 million. This increase was backed by contributions from store openings and higher same-store sales, though partly offset by the impact of store closures.
Dollar General Corporation Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
Same-store sales grew 4.3%, reflecting a 2.6% increase in customer traffic and 1.7% in average transaction amount. Growth was recorded across all major categories, including consumables, seasonal, home products and apparel. We had anticipated same-store sales growth of 2.8% for the quarter.
DG’s Key Metrics & Margin Insights
DG’s consumables category generated $8,772 million, up 5.5% from the prior year. Seasonal sales increased 8.2% to $1,206.1 million, Home Products’ sales rose 8.6% to $643.8 million, and Apparel sales improved 3.5% to $289.3 million.
Gross margin expanded 105 basis points to 30.4%, benefiting from lower shrink, increased inventory markups and decreased inventory damages, partly offset by a higher LIFO provision. We had envisioned an 80-basis-point increase in gross margin.
SG&A expenses, as a percentage of sales, leveraged 165 basis points to 24.9%, stemming from impairment charges, mainly owing to the store-portfolio optimization review completed in fiscal 2024, and retail salaries, somewhat offset by higher incentive compensation. We anticipated 90 basis points of deleverage in SG&A expenses. Dollar General’s operating profit jumped 106.1% to $606.3 million.
DG’s Financial Snapshot
This Goodlettsville, TN-based company ended the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $1,138.5 million, long-term obligations of $4,565.9 million and total shareholders’ equity of $8,512 million.
Management incurred capital expenditures of $1.2 billion in fiscal 2025. For fiscal 2026, Dollar General now anticipates capital expenditures, including investments in the strategic efforts, to be in the $1.4–$1.5 billion range. The company does not plan to repurchase shares in fiscal 2026.
As of Jan. 30, 2026, total merchandise inventories, at cost, were $6.3 billion compared with $6.7 billion as of Jan. 31, 2025, showing a decline of 7% on an average per-store basis.
During fiscal 2025, the company introduced 581 stores in the United States and eight stores in Mexico, remodeling 2,000 stores through Project Renovate and 2,254 stores through Project Elevate, while relocating 47 stores.
In fiscal 2025, DG did not repurchase any shares under its share repurchase program. On March 11, 2026, the company’s board declared a quarterly cash dividend of 59 cents per share on its common stock, payable on or before April 21, 2026, to shareholders of record as of April 7, 2026.
Dollar General’s Expectations for FY26
Dollar General now expects net sales growth of 3.7-4.2% while same-store sales are projected to increase 2.2–2.7%. Earnings per share are anticipated to be between $7.10 and $7.35, assuming an effective tax rate of roughly 25%. This view also reflects a negative impact of about 13 cents due to the expiration of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit on Dec. 31, 2025. Dollar General reported net sales of $42.7 billion and earnings per share of $6.85 in fiscal 2025.
The company has reaffirmed its real estate strategy, which includes about 4,730 projects. Plans call for opening roughly 450 U.S. stores and about 10 in Mexico, remodeling around 2,000 locations under Project Renovate and about 2,250 under Project Elevate, as well as relocating approximately 20 stores.

Dollar General's Q4 Earnings Beat Mark, Same-Store Sales Rise 4.3%

Stocks are under pressure today as crude oil prices keep rising amid widening disruptions to production and transport in the Middle East. WTI crude oil prices are up more than +9% today after Iraq suspended oil terminal activity following an attack by Iran on two tankers. Oman also temporarily evacuated a key oil export hub at Mina Al Fahal, and Iran escalated attacks on Dubai.

Stocks extended their losses today, and crude prices added to their gains on comments from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who said that Iran’s leverage of closing the Strait of Hormuz should be used and attacks on Gulf Arab neighbors will continue. He added that Iran will open unspecified “other fronts” in the war if the US and Israel persist with their attacks.
Credit concerns are weighing on bank stocks and asset managers today after Morgan Stanley and Cliffwater LLC capped withdrawals from their private credit funds amid investor demand to redeem more than the funds allow. Private credit funds are grappling with a wave of redemption requests amid growing concerns over the quality of their loans. BlackRock last week decided to limit withdrawals, a move that other asset managers have since followed.
Crude oil prices are moving higher today despite the IEA members' decision on Wednesday to release 400 million barrels from emergency oil stockpiles. The IEA said the war against Iran is disrupting 7.5% of global oil supply, and the conflict will cut global oil supply by 8 million bpd this month. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas flows, has choked off oil and gas flows due to Iran’s attacks on shipping in the waterway and forced Gulf producers to cut output because they can’t export from the region.
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country would need “firm international guarantees against future aggression” to accept a ceasefire as well as reparations. However, comments from President Trump late Wednesday suggest the conflict could continue for weeks when he said that it would be unwise for the US to wind down hostilities too soon.
US economic news today was mixed for stocks after weekly jobless claims rose less than expected, a sign of labor market strength. Also, Jan housing starts unexpectedly rose to an 11-month high, but Jan building permits fell to a 5-month low.
US weekly initial unemployment claims fell -1,000 to 213,000, showing a stronger labor market than expectations of an increase to 215,000.
US Jan housing starts unexpectedly rose +7.2% m/m to an 11-month high of 1.487 million, stronger than expectations of a decline to 1.341 million. Jan building permits, a proxy for future construction, fell -5.4% m/m to a 5-month low of 1.376 million, weaker than expectations of 1.410 million.
The US Jan trade deficit shrank to -$54.5 billion, narrower than expectations of -$66.0 billion.
Q4 earnings season is nearly over, with more than 95% of the S&P 500 companies having reported earnings results. Earnings have been a positive factor for stocks, with 74% of the 492 S&P 500 companies that have reported beating expectations. According to Bloomberg Intelligence, S&P earnings growth is expected to climb by +8.4% in Q4, marking the tenth consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth. Excluding the Magnificent Seven megacap technology stocks, Q4 earnings are expected to increase by +4.6%.
The markets are discounting a 0% chance for a -25 bp FOMC rate cut at the next policy meeting on March 17-18.
Overseas stock markets are lower. The Euro Stoxx 50 is down -1.30%. China's Shanghai Composite fell from a 1-week high and closed down -0.10%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 closed down -1.04%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) are down by -8 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield is up +1.4 bp to 4.243%. June T-notes fell to a 5-week low today, and the 10-year T-note yield climbed to a 5-week high of 4.249%. Today’s +9% rally in oil prices is raising inflation expectations and undercutting T-note prices. Also, concerns that the cost of the ongoing war against Iran will boost the US budget deficit are bearish for T-notes. In addition, supply pressures are weighing on T-notes as the Treasury will auction $22 billion of 30-year bonds later today.
European government bond yields are moving higher today. The 10-year German bund yield rose to a 2.25-year high of 2.962% and is up +1.6 bp to 2.948%. The 10-year UK gilt yield is up +9.7 bp to 4.784%.
The European Union's economy chief, Valdis Dombrovskis, said the inflation rate could surpass 3% this year and GDP in the Eurozone could be as much as -0.4 points lower if the war in the Middle East causes crude oil prices to remain around $100 per barrel and gas prices stay elevated for an extended period.
Swaps are discounting a 3% chance of a -25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on March 19.
US Stock Movers
Airline stocks and cruise line operators are falling today due to the 8% surge in crude oil prices, which are boosting companies’ fuel costs and threatening earnings. Carnival (CCL) and Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) are down more than -6%, and United Airlines Holdings (UAL) is down more than -4%. Also, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH), American Airlines Group (AAL), Alaska Air Group (ALK), and Southwest Airlines (LUV) are down more than -3%. In addition, Delta Airlines (DAL) is down more than -2%.
Chip stocks are sliding today, weighing on the broader market. Lam Research (LRCX), Applied Materials (AMAT), ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), Micron Technology (MU), and Intel (INTC) are down more than -4%. Also, ASML Holding NV (ASML), Analog Devices (ADI), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), KLA Corp (KLAC), Microchip Technology (MCHP), and Texas Instruments (TXN) are down more than -3%.

Netskope (NTSK) is down more than -24% after forecasting a Q1 adjusted net loss per share of -6 cents to -7 cents, wider than Q4’s -4 cent EPS loss.
G-III Apparel Group Ltd (GIII) is down more than -12% after reporting Q4 net sales of $771.5 million, below the consensus of $791.8 million.
GlobalFoundries (GFS) is down more than -6% after a subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Co. was said to sell as much as $852 million of its stake in the stock overnight at $41.60 to $42.60 per share.
Dollar General (DG) is down more than -5% after giving an underwhelming 2027 comparable sales forecast of up +2.2% to +2.7%, the midpoint right on the consensus of +2.45%.
UiPath (PATH) is down more than -5% after reporting Q4 subscription revenue of $251.2 million, below the consensus of $252.1 million.
MercadoLibre (MELI) is down more than -5% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100 after JPMorgan Chase downgraded the stock to neutral from overweight.
Dow Inc. (DOW) is up more than +6% after Citigroup upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $40.
LyondellBasell Industries NV (LYB) is up more than +5% after Citigroup upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $76.
Occidental Petroleum (OXY) is up more than +4% after Wells Fargo Securities double upgraded the stock to overweight from underweight with a price target of $69.
Atlassian Corp (TEAM) is up more than +2% after announcing a restructuring that will eliminate about 10% of its workforce. UBS upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $97.

GlobalFoundries (GFS) is down more than -4% after a subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Co. was said to sell as much as $852 million of its stake in the stock overnight at $41.60 to $42.60 per share.
Dow Inc. (DOW) is up more than +6% after Citigroup upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $40.
Atlassian Corp (TEAM) is up more than +4% after announcing a restructuring that will eliminate about 10% of its workforce. UBS upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $97.
Occidental Petroleum (OXY) is up more than +3% after Wells Fargo Securities double upgraded the stock to overweight from underweight with a price target of $69.

In early trading on Thursday, shares of CF Industries Holdings topped the list of the day's best performing components of the S&P 500 index, trading up 8.2%. Year to date, CF Industries Holdings registers a 68.0% gain.
And the worst performing S&P 500 component thus far on the day is Dollar General, trading down 7.4%. Dollar General is showing a gain of 1.0% looking at the year to date performance.
Two other components making moves today are Carnival, trading down 4.8%, and Mosaic, trading up 4.9% on the day.
