Comcast Corporation operates as a media and technology company worldwide. It operates through Residential Connectivity & Platforms, Business Services Connectivity, Media, Studios, and Theme Parks segments. The Residential Connectivity & Platforms segment provides residential broadband and wireless connectivity services, residential and business video services, sky-branded entertainment television networks, and advertising. The Business Services Connectivity segment offers connectivity services for small business locations, which include broadband, wireline voice, and wireless services, as well as solutions for medium-sized customers and larger enterprises; and small business connectivity services in the United Kingdom. The Media segment operates NBCUniversal's television and streaming business, including national and regional cable networks; the NBC and Telemundo broadcast networks and owned local broadcast television stations; and Peacock, a direct-to-consumer streaming services. It also operates international television networks comprising the Sky Sports networks, as well as other digital properties. The Studios segment operates NBCUniversal and Sky film and television studio production and distribution operations. The Theme Parks segment operates Universal theme parks in Orlando, Florida; Hollywood, California; Osaka, Japan; and Beijing, China. The company also offers a consolidated streaming platforms under the Philadelphia Flyers and the Wells Fargo Center arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Xumo. Comcast Corporation was founded in 1963 and is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Comcast looks like a mature and profitable business with noticeably cheap valuation multiples, but with constraints in the form of weak liquidity and a high debt burden. P/E of 4.7, P/S of 0.77, P/B of 1.04, and P/FCF of 4.31 are significantly below industry medians, which suggests a low market valuation and partially already reflects the risks. At the same time, the dynamics of P/FCF and P/E have generally improved in recent periods, which supports the thesis that the stock remains fundamentally undervalued. Return on capital is strong: ROE of 19.78% is above the median, and net margin of 15% also looks convincing for a business of this scale. However, ROA and ROI are below industry benchmarks and have declined noticeably compared with earlier periods, indicating reduced efficiency in the use of assets and invested capital. Gross margin of 34.52% and gross profit have declined relative to previous quarters, so the quality of operating leverage does not look ideal. Operating margin of 14.66% remains acceptable, but it is also below recent levels, which limits the potential for rerating. The balance sheet remains heavy: debt/equity of 0.94 is above the median, long-term debt is very large, and current ratio of 0.86 and quick ratio of 0.00 signal weak short-term liquidity. The cash position is modest relative to liabilities, so the company’s financial flexibility is limited. On the other hand, revenue, EBITDA, operating income, and net income remain significant, and equity is large enough to support business stability. The dividend yield in the current data does not support a valuation like a classic income stock, so this factor is neutral. Overall, the fundamentals more likely justify a cautious discount to the current forecast than an upward revision, since the cheap valuation is offset by weak liquidity, high debt, and deterioration in several efficiency metrics.

Entertainment giant Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) wasn't looking so big on the stock exchange during Wednesday's trading session. Investors sold out of the company after digesting remarks from its CFO indicating weakness in certain aspects of its business. By the end of the trading day, Comcast's stock had lost almost 7% of its value.
Tough times?
Comcast, whose major asset is the sprawling NBCUniversal division (and within it, the Universal Studios theme parks), presented at the annual Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology conference. CFO Jason Armstrong updated attendees and other interested parties on the company's operations.

Comcast bears seemed to zero in on Armstrong's remarks about its broadband internet operation, which has been losing subscribers. While he said that the company will narrow those losses this year, he implied it will still shed customers. He also admitted to softness with the Universal Studios business.
Broadband has become increasingly important for Comcast. Earlier this year it hived off a large set of traditional cable TV networks, including CNBC and USA Network into a new company, Versant Media Group. That left its legacy cable and telecom operations and NBCUniversal.
Narrow prospects for broadband
And soon, those two businesses will be separated in yet another spinoff, when Comcast grants NBCUniversal its independence in a move that should be complete by the middle of next year.
Of the two current company divisions, NBCUniversal is the more compelling, not least because it managed to make its Peacock streaming video service profitable for the first time ever (well, adjusted EBITDA "related" to the business was in the black, at any rate).
As Armstrong said in his remarks, broadband is a competitive business, and it'll be a major one for what's going to be left of Comcast. That doesn't excite me, and it clearly didn't excite investors on Wednesday.

Why Comcast Stock Plummeted on Wednesday

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) closed down -0.48% on Wednesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed down -0.77%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed down -0.29%. E-mini S&P futures (ESU26) fell -0.46%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU26) fell -0.30%.
Stock indexes retreated on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling to a 5-week low. The broader market was under pressure for a second day amid mounting inflation risks. WTI crude oil prices surged more than +3% today to a 3.25-month high amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East, heightening concerns about energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz. The surge in energy prices is boosting inflation expectations and pushing bond yields higher. The 10-year T-note yield rose to 4.85% on Wednesday, the highest in 2.75 years. The higher bond yields weighed on stocks.

On the positive side, chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks gained on Wednesday. Energy producers also rose on stronger crude oil prices.
The escalating trade war between the US and Canada is also weighing on market sentiment. On Tuesday, Canada imposed tariffs of 15% to 50% on hundreds of US goods in retaliation for the US action last month to impose 50% tariffs on $20 billion of imports from Canada. The US responded by moving to block imports of some Canadian products and slapping new tariffs on others, as well as seeking to bar Canadian companies from selling to US government contractors.
US MBA mortgage applications fell -2.7% in the week ended September 4, with the purchase mortgage sub-index down -0.2% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -6.2%. The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose +6 bp to a 14-month high of 6.85% from 6.79% in the prior week.
Oct WTI crude oil prices (CLV26) surged more than +3% on Wednesday to a 3.25-month high due to the latest escalation of hostilities in the Middle East. The US destroyed five Iranian tankers carrying crude in response to two attempts by Iran to hit US Navy ships with ballistic missiles. Iran responded by firing missiles at a US air base in Jordan and warning ships in the Persian Gulf that they would be attacked. Iran also said on Wednesday that it is ready for a more intense war and will escalate counterstrikes if the US continues attacking its territory and infrastructure.
The markets are discounting a 61% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on September 15-16.
Overseas stock markets settled mixed on Wednesday. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell to a 5-week low and closed down -1.58%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +0.28%. Japan's Nikkei-225 Stock Average closed down -0.19%.
Interest Rates
December 10-year T-notes (ZNZ6) closed down by -7.5 ticks on Wednesday. The 10-year T-note yield rose +4.5 bp to 4.833%. T-notes fell to a 20-month nearest-futures low on Wednesday, and the 10-year T-note yield rose to a 2.75-year high of 4.853%. T-notes are under pressure from higher crude oil prices, which are boosting inflation expectations, as WTI crude oil rose more than +3% on Wednesday to a 3.25-month high. T-notes added to their losses on Wednesday after the Treasury announced that it will buy back up to $6 billion in longer-dated US Treasuries, below expectations of at least $10 billion.
T-notes recovered from their worst level on Wednesday amid strong demand for the Treasury’s $39 billion auction of 10-year T-notes. The auction had a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.71, well above the 10-auction average of 2.49.
European government bond yields moved higher on Wednesday. The 10-year German bund yield climbed to a new 15-year high of 3.444% and finished up +7.8 bp on that high. The 10-year UK gilt yield rose +8.8 bp to 5.261%.
French July manufacturing production unexpectedly fell -0.8% m/m, weaker than expectations of a +0.4% m/m increase.
Markets are discounting a 100% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at Thursday’s policy meeting.
US Stock Movers
Telecommunication and cable providers moved lower on Wednesday, led by a -6% fall in Comcast (CMCSA), which led losers in the Nasdaq 100 after CFO Armstrong said he sees no improvement in Q3 broadband subscriber losses. Charter Communications (CHTR) also fell more than 8%, and Verizon Communications (VZ) and AT&T (T) closed down more than 1%.
Chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks moved higher on Wednesday, limiting losses in the overall market. Marvell Technology (MRVL) closed up more than +4%, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) closed up more than +3%. Also, Micron Technology (MU) closed up more than +2%, and ARM Holdings (ARM), Western Digital (WDC), SanDisk (SNDK), Intel (INTC), Texas Instruments (TXN), and Qualcomm (QCOM) closed up more than +1%.
Energy producers and service providers rallied on Wednesday after WTI crude oil rose more than +3% to a 3.25-month high. APA Corp (APA) and ExxonMobil Holdings (XOM) closed up more than +2%. Also, Chevron (CVX), Devon Energy (DVN), Diamondback Energy (FANG), Occidental Petroleum (OXY), ConocoPhillips (COP), and Valero Energy (VLO) closed up more than +1%.
ServiceTitan (TTAN) closed down more than -29% after reporting a Q2 EPS loss of -26 cents, a bigger loss than the consensus of -25 cents.
Casy’s General Stores (CASY) closed down more than -14% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after reporting a Q1 gross margin of 21.8%, below the consensus of 22.3%.
Chewy (CHWY) closed down more than -10% after forecasting a sequential decline in Q3 gross margin, due to a timing shift as certain rebate benefits shifted from the second half of the year into Q2.
Smithfield Foods (SFD) closed down more than -6% after cutting its Q3 earnings outlook, citing “continued compression in the industry fresh pork market spread and lower hog prices.”
Dyne Therapeutics (DYN) closed down more than -5% after JPMorgan Chase downgraded the stock to underweight from neutral with a price target of $10.
Booking Holdings (BKNG) closed down more than -3% after losing an EU court fight over its takeover of Sweden’s Etraveli Group, when a judge said regulators were right to conclude that the planned buyout threatened fair competition.
Chime Financial (CHYM) closed up more than +7% after boosting its full-year revenue forecast to $2.76 billion to $2.77 billion from a previous forecast of $2.73 billion to $2.75 billion, stronger than the consensus of $2.74 billion.
Meta Platforms (META) closed up more than +6% after analysts reported positive reviews of the company’s debut of Muse, an AI assistant.
HP Inc (HPQ) closed up more than +3% after announcing a pact with Red Hat on an AI platform.
Sysco (SYY) closed up more than +2% after raising its mid-term financial targets for fiscal years 2028 and 2029 to annualized net sales growth of 4% to 7%, up from a previous view of 4% to 6%.

Stocks Fall as Crude Prices Soar and Bond Yields Climb

The Walt Disney Company DIS is expanding its parks pipeline to add capacity, strengthen guest spending and create a longer runway for Experiences growth. Disney is several years into its $60 billion, 10-year investment plan for Parks, Experiences and Products, with spending focused on theme park and resort expansion, new attractions and cruise capacity. The strategy is already showing results, as Experiences revenues increased 10% year over year in the fiscal third quarter of 2026, while operating income jumped 20%. The pipeline includes major attractions at Disney's U.S. parks, including Villains Land in Orlando and the Avengers Campus expansion in Anaheim, along with additional cruise capacity.
The expansion offers multiple avenues for growth. Domestic attendance increased 3% in the quarter, while per-capita guest spending rose 4%, showing Disney can benefit from both higher visitation and greater spending per visitor. New attractions and lands can also generate additional revenues from admissions, resorts, food and beverages, merchandise and other guest spending. Cruise expansion adds another capacity-driven growth opportunity within Experiences. Importantly, management expects attractive returns from the investment program, making execution and ROIC key measures for investors.
However, international attendance remains a key risk, particularly in Shanghai and Hong Kong, where weaker consumer conditions are weighing on demand. Large capital requirements are another concern, as the company expects fiscal 2026 capital expenditures of approximately $9 billion, primarily reflecting higher Experiences spending on parks, resorts and new attractions.
Overall, ongoing park expansion projects could accelerate Disney's long-term growth, provided the new capacity ensures a sufficient influx of visitors and spending to generate attractive returns on invested capital.
Competitors Challenging DIS in Theme Parks
Disney is facing competition as major U.S. operators expand their attractive facilities, invest in new experiences, and strive to build closer engagement with visitors.
Comcast CMCSA is strengthening its position in the theme park market through Universal’s expanding parks portfolio. Epic Universe continues to perform well, while Universal Kids Resort is open in Frisco and its U.K. park is moving toward construction. Comcast is pursuing long-term parks growth through attractive brands, locations and continued investment in attractions and experiences.
Six Flags Entertainment FUN is expanding its theme park offering through a growing pipeline of attractions and experiences. Its 2026 lineup includes multiple new attractions, while construction is underway on several 2027 projects. Six Flags is also broadening membership and cross-park visitation, aiming to increase guest engagement, repeat visits and long-term returns from its park investments.

Netflix NFLX shares have climbed sharply off their 2026 lows in recent weeks, and the advertising business is emerging as the central thread in that recovery narrative. As the stock works to claw back ground lost earlier this year, investor attention has increasingly shifted toward how quickly the company's ad-supported tier can scale and what that means for the broader growth story.
The renewed focus follows a set of developments the company has flagged around its advertising operations. In its most recent shareholder communication, Netflix said it expanded AI-powered tools across the advertising lifecycle — spanning planning, creative production, campaign management and reporting — and extended programmatic access to Pause Ads and live inventory, a move aimed at opening the platform to a broader range of buyers, including smaller advertisers previously limited by manual processes. The company also noted that its U.S. upfront negotiations were in advanced stages, with commitments expected to close in the following weeks, and pointed to strong advertiser interest in its live-event lineup.
These initiatives sit against a backdrop of steady financial performance. For the second quarter of 2026, Netflix reported revenues of $12.56 billion, up 13% year over year, with operating margin at 33.4% and earnings per share of 80 cents. Looking ahead, the company reiterated its full-year revenue outlook of $51 billion to $51.4 billion, implying 13-14% growth, alongside a 31.5% operating margin target and roughly $12.5 billion in free cash flow, with growth in memberships, pricing and advertising cited as the primary drivers for the remainder of the year.
With the ad business still a fraction of total revenues but expanding at a rapid clip, its trajectory over the next two quarters is likely to remain a key determinant of whether Netflix's stock recovery has staying power.

Among U.S. rivals pursuing similar ad-supported growth, Disney DIS and Comcast CMCSA offer contrasting benchmarks. Disney's direct-to-consumer advertising revenues rose 3% in its fiscal third quarter, with Disney's Entertainment segment ad sales actually dipping 1% even as Disney's ESPN business offset the softness. (RTTNews) - Comcast Corp. (CMCSA, CMCSK), the U.S. cable and broadband provider, announced on Tuesday that it has completed a network expansion in Bloomsbury, New Jersey, connecting nearly 400 homes and businesses to its fiber-powered network for the first time.
Residents can now access Xfinity internet, mobile, entertainment and smart home services, while businesses gain access to Comcast Business solutions. The rollout is part of Comcast's broader investment in New Jersey, where the company connected 43,000 additional homes and businesses over the past year.
Comcast is also bringing its full suite of residential services to Bloomsbury, including high-speed internet, streaming, mobile, voice and home security.
Comcast Business will offer advanced networking solutions such as SD-WAN, cloud connectivity and unified communications, alongside mobile services with 5G and access to more than 23 million WiFi hotspots nationwide.
On the Nasdaq, shares of Comcast are currently losing 0.17 percent, changing hands at $26.58.

Paying $14.99 a month for the popular on-demand streaming service may not seem like a lot. You're shelling out $0.50 a day for an expanding platform of content escapism. However, the problematic take is how quickly the streaming platform's monthly rate has crept higher since it launched almost seven years ago.

Living up to the "+" in its name
When Apple launched in the fall of 2019, it was easy to see why it chose an aggressive $4.99-per-month price point. Despite being a company known for charging a premium over the competition, it was starting its content catalog from scratch. It couldn't match the vault thatglobal marketleader Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) and other streaming service stocks were offering, even if the top dog had boosted its monthly rate from $10.99 to $12.99 earlier that year.
Disney's (NYSE: DIS) own namesake premium streaming service, Disney+, would launch a few days after Apple's platform. Despite having decades of content and some of the most iconic intellectual properties, the House of Mouse also rolled out its ad-free offering aggressively. Disney+ came out at $6.99 a month, giving theme park passholders, Disney credit card holders, and D23 fan club members the ability to lock in to multiyear prepaid pricing as low as $4.99 a month.
Other Big 6 media giants jumping into the game in 2020 and beyond with fuller content slates than Apple TV+ would also price their new services in the single digits. Comcast's (NASDAQ: CMCSA) Peacock Premium Plus and Paramount Skydance's (NASDAQ: PSKY) Paramount+ rebrand of CBS All Access set their initial monthly prices at $9.99.
It adds up over time
When cord-cutting started to gain momentum several years ago, the appeal of replacing costly satellite and cable TV services with a handful of affordable digital on-demand apps sounded great. Every increase -- and Paramount+ raised its prices just 10 days before Apple's increase -- adds up. Here is what ad-free premium services cost per month in the summer of 2020:

Before digging into the jaw-dropping inflation, I want to point out a few things. Many of these services are owned by companies that have stopped reporting or rarely offer domestic or global subscriber counts. They are listed in order of industry estimates for stateside paid subscribers on FlixPatrol.
I left out Disney's ESPN because it's a sports-centric service. I also cut out Amazon's (NASDAQ: AMZN) Prime Video since it's part of a broader shopper loyalty subscription. With those two, Apple TV+ would be the ninth largest premium video streaming service in the country. Does that seem like a service that should have tripled its price over the last four years? Even the mighty Apple stock has only doubled in that time.
Will Apple TV+ survive the inevitable shakeout?
If you replaced your old cable TV plan with seven of the country's most popular streaming services four summers ago, $69.93 a month seemed reasonable. Today, you would be shelling out $125.43 a month, a 79% increase in five years.
The biggest shock is that it's not the most popular services taking advantage of the situation to jack up their monthly ransoms. They are up 23% to 58% over the past five years. Amazon's Prime subscription service has risen a modest 15% in that time. It's the smaller services like Apple TV+ that have roughly tripled in that time. How will that help them catch up in a game where strong attraction and retention result in scalability?
The value proposition is fading at Apple TV+, if not gone entirely. The next time the economy hits a speed bump, the smaller services that pushed out the highest increases will get pushed out of family budgets. Greed storms in with bragging rights but often ends in humbling exits.

Constellation Energy (NASDAQ: CEG) is one of the primary pick-and-shovel plays of the data center boom. The company, thanks to its ability to deliver clean, on-demand nuclear and natural gas energy, has been in demand among hyperscalers with growing artificial intelligence (AI) needs.
Constellation operates the largest nuclear fleet in the United States, delivering more than 180 terawatt hours (TWh) of annual nuclear generation.

Despite its plethora of deals, the stock is down more than 51% from its 52-week high of $412.70 at its current price. So far this year, its shares are down more than 22%. There are several reasons for that apparent disconnect. Let's look into them and see whether the stock is a buy.
Much of its growth has already been priced into the stock
When the market first realized that AI hyperscalers would need massive amounts of 24/7 clean energy, Constellation's stock rallied dramatically. Its shares, despite this year's correction, are up more than 549% over the past five years.
Much of the hype surrounding future data center power demand was priced in well in advance. Investors already know that the company has 920 megawatts of new power purchase agreements (PPA) lined up, including a 20-year PPA with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) to restart Three Mile Island, now renamed the Crane Energy Center. The company's 20-year PPA with Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) and 15-year PPA with Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) were announced in June of 2025 and in 2022, respectively. When Constellation's deals are made formal, they often meet existing market expectations rather than create positive surprises.
These deals will take time to pay off
Getting approvals from regional grid operators, including the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) take time, particularly on nuclear projects. At the state level, regulatory scrutiny has increased. For example, Texas (ERCOT) placed temporary pauses on data center interconnection requests to review grid stability, delaying commercial timelines.
Restarting the Crane Clean Energy Center won't happen overnight, nor will new PPA deals. Constellation is in the process of getting approval for renewal applications for two New York nuclear reactors, the Ginna Clean Energy Center and the Nine Mile Point Unit 1 reactor.
Crane isn't expected to supply power until late 2027 or beyond, meaning the cash flows from it are years away from appearing on current income statements.
Constellation's new 920 megawatts of PPAs are 15 to 20 years in duration and are set to begin between 2029 and 2032.
Constellation's growth comes with a cost
To expand its capacity, Constellation undertook major corporate moves, including the 2025 acquisition of natural gas and geothermal power provider Calpine for $26.6 billion. While this strategically shifts the company's revenue mix, the integration has led to a steep rise in total debt and net interest expense.
The company reported $13 billion in debt in the second quarter, up 64% year over year. Its trailing debt-to-earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) ratio has risen more than 48% over the past year, thanks to the deal. That is a major reason the company's earnings per share (EPS) were $1.42, down 48% year over year.
Its growth has also led to regulatory compliance hurdles, with the Calpine purchase prompting regulators to require the company to divest the Brazos Valley Energy Center in Texas.
Keep an eye on the long term
These PPA agreements will lead to increased revenue and better earnings. The company already reported revenue of $7.5 billion in the second quarter, up 18.6%, year over year.
The company's second-quarter adjusted EPS, which excludes interest expense but not principal payments on debt, was $2.55, up 33.5% from the same quarter a year ago.
Despite pushbacks against data centers and increased regulatory scrutiny, the AI data center boom is not going away, and Constellation is set to see long-term growth from it. The stock's pullback this year presents an excellent long-term proposition for investors. Yes, the company has significant debt, but its stable utility revenue will enable it to pay down that debt and return to profitability within a reasonable time frame.
