However, HOOD operates in a highly regulated industry, and hence it is exposed to regulatory risks, resulting in hefty fines and restrictions that may affect its profitability. Cipher Mining is expected to benefit from expanding opportunities at Black Pearl and Barbara Lake and longer-term expansion in 2026 and 2027.
Black Pearl is the company’s 300-megawatt data center in Wink, TX. Phase 1 is currently under construction and will feature 150 megawatts of air-cooled Bitcoin mining rigs. CIFR is evaluating options for the usage of the remaining 150 megawatts of capacity, including plans to build Phase 2 of the data center for Higher Performance Computing (HPC) hosting.
This Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) company has inked a partnership with Fortress to develop a next-generation data center at the Barber Lakes site, driven by available capacity of 300 megawatts and 587 acres of surrounding land, in addition to its already energized substation. Cipher Minning plans to expand the facility with an additional 500-megawatt data center adjacent to the current 300-megawatt site. The additional 500 megawatts of capacity are expected to come online by 2029.
The latest site acquisition in Andrews County, TX, called Stingray, adds 100 megawatts of front-of-the-meter capacity and 250 acres of land adjacent to the transmission assets. The site is expected to energize in the third quarter of 2026.

The company mined 1,514 Bitcoins in third-quarter fiscal 2025 as compared with 1,347 in the previous quarter. IREN mined 579, 627 and 620 Bitcoins in April, May and June, respectively.
AI Cloud revenues are accelerating, which bodes well for IREN Limited. In third-quarter fiscal 2025, AI Cloud services revenues jumped 33% year over year to $3.6 million. The company is supplying white labelled compute to leading US AI cloud providers. In April, May and June, IREN reported revenues of $2 million, $2.2 million and $2.2 million, respectively.

Investors in Cipher Mining Inc (Symbol: CIFR) saw new options become available today, for the March 2026 expiration. One of the key data points that goes into the price an option buyer is willing to pay, is the time value, so with 246 days until expiration the newly available contracts represent a potential opportunity for sellers of puts or calls to achieve a higher premium than would be available for the contracts with a closer expiration. When people mention Bitcoin and want to trade it in the equity markets they often look at MicroStrategy MSTR. This stock also does not have a Zacks Rank as there are no analysts submitting estimates to the Zacks Consensus. Investors that are looking for leverage when investing in Bitcoin can use MSTX or MSTU for 2x the impact of the stock. The leverage can really help in a bull market for crypto, but it can also be rather painful in a bear market.
Next up if Coinbase COIN which is also a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). This company is a crypto trading platform that has seen a big pull back from the $300 level and the end of January to the $180 price range as the markets have weakened of late. COIN serves as the custodian for a lot of large financial services platforms and that takes a lot of risk out of the equation.
The bitcoin miners have really been left by the side of the road over the last few months as AI took the pole position. There was a lot of talk about the bitcoin miners switching their compute power over to AI and while I don’t like that idea, it serves as a potential alternative revenue source. We look at two bitcoin miners, Hive Digital (HIVE) and Cipher Mining (CIFR). Of those two, Cipher Mining (CIFR) has a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy)
Finally we look Blockchain Innovators, a service run by David Bartosiak. David has been tasked with leveraging the Zacks Rank to help find the best Bitcoin / Blockchain. One of his many nicknames is “Buy and Hold” Bartosiak and we can see what kind of returns you can get with you hold a stock for five and a half years. Brian's Big Idea: Bitcoin

In trading on Monday, the iShares U.S. Consumer Staples ETF is outperforming other ETFs, up about 1.5% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of Archer-daniels-midland, up about 4.4% and shares of Mccormick, up about 3.9% on the day.
And underperforming other ETFs today is the Amplify Transformational Data Sharing ETF, down about 7.1% in Monday afternoon trading. Among components of that ETF with the weakest showing on Monday were shares of Cipher Mining, lower by about 15%, and shares of Terawulf, lower by about 14.4% on the day.

However, XRP and Cardano have jumped 7.6% and 22.9% over the same time.

Although Coinbase is prone to volatility in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, the dismissal of the 2023 lawsuit filed by the SEC, and President Donald Trump’s latest announcement of building a strategic crypto reserve bodes well for the stock’s prospects.
Coinbase is well-positioned to generate improved revenues, banking on USDC, staking and Coinbase One. Improved payment rails and localization should drive international revenues, the share of which reached 19% in fourth-quarter 2024. Sufficient liquidity supports investments in growth initiatives and expands its service offerings.
COIN has prioritized crypto utility and envisions bringing 1 billion or more people on the crypto rail. Thus, it is heavily investing in infrastructure and foundational platforms like Layer 2s, Base and Stablecoins. Coinbase is solidifying its base as the number one chain for startups to build on chain and large companies. As part of the initiative, it continues to lower transaction fees on base.
Another Zacks Rank #1 stock, Cipher Mining, is a low-cost producer of Bitcoin. The company’s prospects benefit from the upgradation of the Odessa fleet, which grew CIFR’s total self-mining hash rate to 13.5 EH/second in fourth-quarter 2024. Cipher Mining expects the hash rate to reach at least 23 EH/second by the third quarter of 2025, driven by the completion of phase one of its 300-megawatt Black Pearl data center.
CIFR’s evolution from being solely a Bitcoin miner to a developer of HPC data centers bodes well for investors. Cipher Mining has acquired 337 more acres of land at its Barber Lake site and plans to expand the scope of the facility, including building an additional 500-megawatt data center adjacent to the current 300-megawatt site. The company’s prospects will likely strengthen in 2026, with the November 2024 acquisition of the new Stingray site that features 100 megawatts of capacity.
CME Group, the largest futures exchange in the world in terms of trading volume and notional value traded, is riding on record volume growth. In 2024, its average daily volume increased 9% year over year to 26.9 million contracts. CME saw record volumes for multiple products, including treasury futures and ultra-10-year treasury note futures, SOFR futures, Bitcoin futures, and natural gas and metals futures and options.
CME’s investments in marketing and education of potential clients benefit prospects. Clients added in the past five years have generated roughly $1 billion in revenues, including approximately 5% of transaction and clearing revenues in 2024. This Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) company expects to see strong volumes in 2025, driven by strong customer demand for efficient trading and hedging solutions.
Clearing and transaction fees contribute a major share to CME Group’s top line. Increasing clearing and transaction fees should continue to boost the top line. The company is witnessing growth in electronic trading volume and higher adoption of crypto assets with increased interest across the entire crypto economy.
