Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE), which was created as a parody of Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), reached its all-time high of $0.74 on May 8, 2021 -- the same day Elon Musk, its most prominent backer, hosted Saturday Night Live. But as of this writing, it trades at about $0.08.
Dogecoin, like many other meme coins, fizzled out as rising interest rates and other macro headwinds chilled the cryptocurrency market. Without a supply limit, Dogecoin couldn't be valued by its scarcity, as Bitcoin is. Without native support for smart contracts, Dogecoin couldn't be valued as a blockchain-based developer ecosystem like Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH). That's why it struggled to recover even as Bitcoin and Ether bounced back.

Yet Elon Musk, who named the Trump Administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after the meme coin, is still bullish on its growth potential. On June 1, the X user DogeDesigner posted that Musk once offered to eat a Happy Meal on live TV if McDonald's (NYSE: MCD) accepted Dogecoin. Musk reposted the tweet and acknowledged it was "true". So could that actually happen and breathe fresh life into this unloved cryptocurrency?
Mainstream exposure hasn't boosted Dogecoin's price
A handful of major companies already accept Dogecoin payments. Musk allows its Tesla and SpaceX customers to use Dogecoin to buy the companies' branded merchandise (but not Tesla's electric cars or SpaceX's Starlink terminals).
Mark Cuban, another one of Dogecoin's early backers, allowed people to buy Dallas Mavericks tickets and merchandise with the meme coin. Amazon's Twitch, AMC Theaters, Microsoft, Newegg, LVMH's Tag Heuer, and AirBaltic also accept Dogecoin payments for certain products and services.
But just because Dogecoin is an available payment option doesn't mean most consumers are actually using it. Like other cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin's volatility makes it much less reliable than fiat currencies. Most consumers and businesses probably aren't eager to do business with a token that has fluctuated between $0.08 and $0.31 over the past 52 weeks.
So even if McDonald's accepts Dogecoin payments as a publicity stunt to get Elon Musk to eat a Happy Meal on TV, it probably wouldn't move the needle for the meme coin. That's probably why Musk's repost of DogeDesigner's tweet -- which references a comment he made in 2022 -- didn't boost Dogecoin's price as much as some of his own tweets.
Dogecoin might be doomed
Dogecoin didn't recover after its first ETFs were launched in late 2025 and 2026. Its supporters are trying to turn it into a developer-oriented token with Dogechain, a new Layer 2 (L2) solution built on Polygon's blockchain that supports smart contracts. However, it's still tiny compared to big developer ecosystems like Ethereum and Solana. Without those clear long-term catalysts, Dogecoin's price will likely sink lower -- even if big companies like McDonald's start accepting Dogecoin payments.

Billionaire Elon Musk Has a New Idea That Could Make Dogecoin Investors Very Happy. But Will It Work?

You might not realize it, but your local multiplex is having its best year since 2019. Domestic movie theaters have collected $3.7 billion in ticket sales so far this year, 10% ahead of where box office receipts were a year ago at this time, and 40% ahead of where things stood two years ago. This is the strongest five-month start for the industry in any year since the COVID-19 crisis.
Is it time to buy AMC Entertainment (NYSE: AMC)? Despite stateside admissions at a seven-year high, AMC stock has been cut nearly in half over the past year. Over the past five years, AMC shares have plummeted -- brace for this -- more than 99% on a split-adjusted basis.

There are some good reasons for the stock's brutal underperformance, but could this finally be a good time to consider AMC stock a viable investment? If you're still unconvinced, maybe you'll consider some of the less volatile ways to play the cinematic recovery in fellow exhibitor Cinemark (NYSE: CNK), experience supersizer IMAX (NYSE: IMAX), or multiplex landlord EPR Properties (NYSE: EPR). Let's take a closer look at why AMC still has a lot to prove, and why some of these smaller players could be timely opportunities.
1. Cinemark
Cinemark is smaller than AMC, but it's already years ahead on key profitability milestones. AMC is still posting annual losses, and isn't expected to turn that corner until 2029 at the earliest. Cinemark has been profitable since 2023. There is no positive earnings multiple for AMC, naturally. Cinemark is trading for less than 14 times forward earnings. Cinemark has even been paying a quarterly dividend since early last year.
It's not just the head-scratching losses that have kept AMC in check. AMC is one of the worst-performing stocks over the last five years because it has diluted its shareholders by printing new shares faster than its popcorn maker spits out fluffy golden treats. AMC's fully diluted, split-adjusted share count has soared 42-fold since 2019. That is not a typo. Cinemark's share count over that time has risen modestly by 14%.
The revenue growth fundamentals are encouraging for both companies. You know ticket sales are rising, but both chains have beefed up their concession stand offerings with pricier options and release-themed collectibles. Analysts see the two companies growing their top lines by 11% to 12% this year, and that could prove conservative if moviegoing trends continue heading in a bullish direction.
2. IMAX
You have probably taken in an IMAX experience with enhanced visuals and sound on a gargantuan projector screen. Some directors of obvious blockbusters even shoot scenes with cameras designed to take advantage of IMAX's enhancements.
The bad news about what's driving the recent surge in ticket sales is that it's not the typical IMAX releases pulling in audiences. This past weekend, the two biggest draws were Backrooms and Obsession. Backrooms topped $80 million in domestic admissions, despite being made by a 20-year-old YouTuber with a $10 million budget. Obsession is the first nationwide theatrical release since E.T. -- 44 years ago -- to see its weekend grosses increase in both the second and third weeks.
Having a pair of micro-budget releases lighting up the multiplex in recent weeks isn't ideal for IMAX, but it will still fare well. The three top-grossing films so far this year have all been given the IMAX treatment. The same can be said about the slate of even bigger releases coming out later this year. AMC, Cinemark, and IMAX will be just fine.
IMAX is trading for 23 times this year's projected earnings. Cinemark is understandably cheaper, but IMAX has consistently posted double-digit percentage earnings beats over the past year.
3. EPR Properties
My final theatrical investing recommendation isn't an actual exhibitor or experience enhancer. EPR just happens to be the landlord for many theaters across the country. EPR is a real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in experiential properties. It owns amusement parks, "eat and play" venues, and, yes, several AMC multiplexes.
Is EPR at risk if AMC defaults on the theaters that it owns? Of course, but it has a diversified portfolio. EPR's biggest risk is if consumer non-discretionary spending takes a dive in an economic slowdown. Along the way, EPR investors are collecting a juicy 6.4% yield. At the very least, that's collectible popcorn bucket spending money.

It's fun and potentially lucrative, at least in the short run and if your timing is right, to invest in meme stocks. AMC Entertainment (NYSE: AMC) was one such stock, and its share price went for a wild ride. At one point in 2021, the price shot up to well over $600, but it currently trades under $2.
Arcs like that may make for exciting headlines, as well as big paydays for a few lucky traders. But it's awfully hard for a long-term minded investors to profit. It's a much better strategy to own dividend-paying stocks with strong underlying fundamentals.

Target (NYSE: TGT) belongs in that category. Its share price may not shoot up overnight, but it won't collapse, either. However, it could help you build wealth over time through dividends and share price appreciation.
Back on Target
Target lost its way in recent years, but new CEO Michael Fiddelke has outlined plans to win back customers and grow sales. The company's fiscal 2025 fourth-quarter (which ended on Jan. 31), same-store sales (comps) dropped 2.5%. However, for fiscal 2026, management expects a small increase in comps.
Management plans to return to offering more differentiated merchandise, as well as improving the in-store and online customer experiences, and investing in technology.
These seem like sound strategies. After all, serving customers and providing unique offerings at discount prices drew customers to Target for a long time.
Confidently collecting dividends
Meanwhile, Target has raised its payouts to shareholders annually for more than 50 consecutive years, making the company a Dividend King. Last June, it raised its quarterly payout by 1.8% to $1.14 a share, making 2025 its 54th straight year of increases. Given its history, it seems like a safe bet that the company will soon announce another hike.
Of course, it's important to check whether Target can afford the payments. After all, even companies with long dividend-hiking track records eventually encounter situations that require them to cut their payouts or pause in boosting them. But that's not a concern with Target.
Based on its free cash flow -- operating cash flow minus capital expenditures -- the company has plenty of funds with which to pay and raise its dividends. Last year, it generated $2.8 billion in free cash flow, but paid out just $2.1 billion in dividends.
At the current share price, Target has a 3.6% dividend yield. That's more than three times the S&P 500 index's average of 1.1%.
With consistently growing dividends, an attractive yield, and a sensible plan to accelerate sales growth, Target stock should produce attractive total returns over time. It may not generate as many headlines, but it will create wealth for patient shareholders.

The company expects revenues of $3.32-$3.37 billion, indicating 11-13% year-over-year growth, along with an adjusted EBITDA margin expansion of 3-4 percentage points. This guidance reflects continued demand strength, effective execution of strategic initiatives and operating leverage following solid fourth-quarter momentum. The outlook signals confidence in sustained growth across core segments and improving profitability trends. Based on this robust guidance, EXPE is expected to have delivered strong top-line growth and margin expansion in the quarter under review.
Expedia Group has been actively embedding artificial intelligence across its platform to enhance user experience, improve conversion and drive operational efficiency. The company is leveraging AI for personalized recommendations, faster product development, improved customer service resolution and more efficient inventory onboarding, while also enhancing marketing targeting and ad relevance. Expedia Group to Post Q1 Earnings: What's in the Cards for the Stock?

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.23 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.15 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.07 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.
This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of +53.33%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this cruise operator would post earnings of $0.28 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.28, delivering no surprise.
Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.
Norwegian Cruise Line, which belongs to the Zacks Leisure and Recreation Services industry, posted revenues of $2.33 billion for the quarter ended March 2026, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 0.5%.
