AAR Corp. provides products and services to commercial aviation, government, and defense markets worldwide. It operates through Aviation Services and Expeditionary Services segments. The Aviation Services segment engages in lease and sale of new, overhauled and repaired engine, and airframe parts and components, as well as aircrafts; and offers customized flight hour component inventory and repair, warranty claim management, and outsourcing programs for engine and airframe parts and components. This segment also provides fleet management and operations of customer-owned aircraft for the U.S. Department of State; customized performance-based supply chain logistics programs, which includes material planning, sourcing, logistics, information and program management, airframe and maintenance planning, and component repair, and overhaul services for U.S. Department of Defense and foreign governments. Further, it offers airframe inspection, maintenance, repair and overhaul, painting services, line maintenance, modifications, structural repairs, avionics service and installation, exterior and interior refurbishment, and engineering services and support; and repair and overhaul components including landing gears, wheels, and brakes for commercial and military aircraft; and operates six airframe maintenance facilities and one landing gear overhaul facility. The Expeditionary Services segment designs, manufactures, and repairs transportation pallets and containers and shelters for military and humanitarian tactical deployment activities, including armories, supply and parts storage, refrigeration systems, tactical operation centers, briefing rooms, laundry and kitchen facilities, water treatment, and sleeping quarters, as well as engages in provision of engineering, design, and system integration services for specialized command and control systems. AAR Corp. was founded in 1951 and is headquartered in Wood Dale, Illinois.

AAR Corp. appears to be a company with an operating base that has already improved noticeably, but the market has priced in that improvement fairly generously. TTM revenue has risen to 845 million, and net income to 68 million, supporting a stronger business profile than a year ago. At the same time, EPS and forward EPS remain high and continue to improve, confirming a recovery in earnings quality. The balance sheet has also strengthened: equity has increased to 1.64 billion, debt-to-equity has declined to 0.54, and the current ratio of 2.70 looks comfortable. However, by valuation multiples the stock no longer looks cheap: P/E, P/B, P/S, and especially P/FCF are above the industry median, which limits re-rating potential. This is especially important because free cash flow is valued very richly by the market, meaning investors are already paying for expectations of further improvement. Profitability is generally positive, but ROE, ROA, and ROI are still below industry benchmarks, and net and operating margins also fall short of the median. Gross margin is noticeably weaker than the industry, indicating limited pricing power or a higher cost base. On the other hand, operating margin and profitability have clearly improved versus last year, so the business trend is more likely positive. The company does not pay dividends, so the investment case rests almost entirely on earnings growth and valuation normalization. Overall, the fundamentals support a moderately positive view of the company, but the high valuation multiples and less-than-ideal margins do not allow for an aggressive increase in the target price. For investors, this is not a story of deep undervaluation, but rather of a materially improving business that is already partly reflected in the share price.

Aeronautics: Sales increased 9.3% year over year to $8.11 billion. The increase was primarily driven by higher sales from the F 35 program.
The segment reported an operating profit of $760 million against the operating loss of $98 million in the year-ago quarter. The operating margin expanded 1070 basis points (bps) to 9.4%.
Missiles and Fire Control: Quarterly sales improved a solid 19.5% year over year to $4.10 billion. This was on account of higher sales from integrated air and missile defense programs, as well as tactical and strike missile programs.
The segment’s operating profit increased to $594 million from $479 million in the prior-year quarter. The operating margin expanded 50 bps to 14.5%.
Space: The top line improved 5.7% year over year to $3.50 billion, driven by higher sales from strategic and missile defense programs.
The segment’s operating profit increased to $371 million. The operating margin contracted 30 bps to 10.6%.
Rotary and Mission Systems: Quarterly revenues increased 7.8% to $4.35 billion on a year-over-year basis, driven by higher sales of Sikorsky helicopter programs.
The segment reported an operating profit of $437 million against the operating loss of $172 million in the second quarter of 2025. The operating margin contracted 1430 bps to 10%.

Lockheed Q2 Earnings Beat Estimates, Sales Increase Year Over Year

AAR Corp. AIR reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 adjusted earnings of $1.53 per share, which topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.41 by 8.5%. The bottom line also improved 31.9% from the year-ago quarter’s level of $1.16.
The company reported GAAP earnings of $1.27 per share compared with 95 cents in the prior-year quarter.
The year-over-year improvement in the bottom line can be attributed to strong sales growth.
AIR reported fiscal 2026 adjusted earnings of $5.05 per share, which were higher than the year-ago figure of $3.91, reflecting the impact of improved operating efficiency on higher sales volumes.

Selling, general and administrative expenses amounted to $99.6 million compared with $77.4 million a year ago.
Net interest expenses for the quarter totaled $16.3 million compared with $18.4 million in the year-ago period.

Is AAR Expanding Its Presence in the Aircraft MRO Market?

FTAI's core business also has excellent long-term growth prospects from servicing engines used on Boeing and Airbus airplanes.
Investors need to keep an eye out for any potential slowdown in flight departures.
Shares in FTAI Aviation (NASDAQ: FTAI) rose by 37.4% in the first half of 2026, according to the data from S&P Global Market Intelligence. It's an excellent performance, but it was anything but linear. Instead, FTAI has had a volatile year, with many of the year's topical issues: AI-linked investment, the conflict in Iran, and energy prices. Given that these factors remain highly dynamic, volatility is likely to continue.
FTAI Aviation has three businesses
The company operates three businesses that are highly related but distinct. The core business is providing engine maintenance for airlines and airplane owners. The second is aviation leasing, where it takes assets (airplanes) on its books, raises third-party capital, and then owns and leases the airplanes to airlines, while ensuring the engines are maintained. The third, nascent, business is FTAI Power, which was launched at the end of 2025, and converts CFM56 engines (which power the legacy Airbus A320 family of planes as well as the legacy Boeing 737) into power turbines to provide energy to data centers globally.

All three were impacted by events in 2026.
Good news and bad news
While it's obvious to think of the company as being in direct competition with engine manufacturers like GE Aerospace and its joint venture, CFM International, in reality, it signed a multi-year agreement on CFM56 engines with CFM International in January.
The deal is mutually beneficial, as FTAI secures replacement parts to maintain and service the CFM56 engine, and GE Aerospace and its partner Safran secure a reliable market for their CFM56 parts. In addition, it frees up GE Aerospace to focus on growing its aftermarket business on the newer LEAP engine.
The CFM deal was good news, but the launch of a war with Iran led to soaring jet fuel prices, and GE Aerospace and others have reduced their estimates for flight departures this year. That's not good news for companies that service engines or lease airplanes.
Turning to FTAI Power, there's no doubt that the environment has strengthened for companies with data center infrastructure exposure, such as GE Vernova. Still, FTAI isn't set to start generating revenue until 2027, so investors won't see the immediate impact for a while yet.
Where next for FTAI Aviation?
Investors have reason to be positive. Lower flight departures in 2026 are an issue, but as GE Aerospace and Delta Air Lines argue, the travel industry tends to bounce back stronger after (hopefully) temporary periods of high oil prices. In addition, FTAI Power will start generating revenue in 2027, and investors will be more willing to price in the business's long-term growth. That said, jet fuel prices and their impact on flight departures are a watch item.

RTX Corporation RTX, through its Collins Aerospace business, continues to boost its global aerospace support infrastructure to address rising demand from commercial aviation customers. On June 9, 2026, Collins Aerospace announced the expansion of its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Subang Aerotech Park in Malaysia. The $63 million investment increases the site's footprint from nearly 46,000 square feet to 164,000 square feet, establishing Subang as a key regional center for advanced component support and technical services.
RTX's expansion underscores its strategy to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific aviation market. As airlines in the region continue expanding fleets and increasing flight activity, demand for MRO services and component support is expected to rise. The enhanced Malaysia facility will enable Collins Aerospace to serve a broader customer base while increasing regional service capacity.

Redwire plays a key role in defense and the growing space industry
Redwire operates two distinct segments: a space segment and a defense technology segment. In its space segment, Redwire develops hardware and technology for space infrastructure, including building blocks for spacecraft, like solar panels, robotic arms, and other parts, along with parts that support massive satellite constellations. When NASA's Artemis II mission took flight earlier this year, Redwire's optical imaging and sun sensor technologies were tools utilized on the Orion spacecraft.
In its defense technology segment, Redwire builds highly advanced military drones (uncrewed aerial systems) that can fly autonomously, have been combat-tested, and can operate in highly contested, GPS-denied environments. For example, Redwire has delivered hundreds of its Penguin drones directly to the Ukrainian military for use in real-world combat operations.
The company is a major provider and has customers that include the U.S. government, including NASA, the U.S. Army, the Marine Corps, and the Department of Homeland Security. But it also provides components for top aerospace and defense companies, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Airbus, and Blue Origin.
In April, the U.S. Space Force's Space Systems Command selected Redwire as one of 14 companies to compete under this $1.8 billion contract program to design and build advanced space surveillance and reconnaissance satellites. Earlier this year, it was awarded a multi-award contract for the Missile Defense Agency's Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) IDIQ.
Is Redwire a buy?
Redwire's backlog is up to $498 million, and analysts expect 40% revenue growth in 2026 and another 20% in 2027. That said, the business is currently losing money, and analysts don't forecast profitability within the next three years.
Redwire is an early-stage company that has secured several key government contract wins, and as a result, the stock has surged 198% year to date. Given the stock's recent surge and lack of near-term profitability, Redwire is best left for aggressive investors with a long-term outlook and willing to stomach sizable price swings.

Boeing's ready for a smoother ride
Boeing's backlog has grown to an astronomical $682 billion. This includes more than 6,100 commercial airplane orders. A backlog of this size provides excellent long-term revenue visibility and demand that is unlikely to fizzle out anytime soon.
On April 1, Boeing announced its new initiative with the U.S. Department of Defense to triple production of PAC-3 missile seeker components. The deal is a positive sign that the company's relationship with the government is durable and likely to grow if defense spending continues to increase.
Lastly, Boeing is closing in on a massive 500 jet deal with China. If this sale closes, it would be one of the largest in company history. Chinese airlines have mostly purchased aircraft from Airbus (ETR: AIR) in recent years, but Boeing is working to regain international market share.
There was hope the deal would close after President Donald Trump met with China's President Xi in a meeting originally scheduled for the end of March, but it was postponed due to the ongoing conflict in Iran. The meeting was rescheduled for mid-May.
Boeing's financials are still in recovery mode but showing improvement. For the full year 2025, Boeing's revenue reached $89.5 billion, a 34% year-over-year increase. The manufacturer made 600 commercial deliveries, which was its highest total since 2018.
Free cash flow also impressively swung from negative to positive, going from a loss of $12 billion to $1.06 billion in 2025 as well. This steep recovery is expected to continue through 2026. This trajectory should help Boeing reduce its debt load and reward patient investors.
The stock is lifting higher
Boeing's stock has also increased by over 20% in the past 12 months on the company's financial turnaround. The analysts' consensus is optimistic. The average price target for Boeing is now $270. As of April 2, the stock is trading slightly above $200, suggesting plenty of room to run.
With a giant backlog, robust defense contracts, and potential to claw back market share from Airbus overseas, Boeing's runway is clear and ready for takeoff. It's a compelling recovery story for an American institution.
