Zoom CEO Eric Yuan Sells 57,824 Shares for $5.3 Million

Microsoft MSFT is reshaping how it charges for Teams, and the shift carries real implications for the stock. Effective April 1, 2026, the company moved a broad set of previously Premium-only features, including town hall and webinar tools, streaming chat, real-time event insights and immersive 3D events, into the base Teams Enterprise license, while narrowing Teams Premium to a smaller set of security, branding and AI-driven capabilities still priced at $10 per user per month. To offset lost Premium revenues from smaller events, Microsoft introduced Attendee Capacity Pack licenses, letting organizations scale events up to 100,000 participants without full per-seat licensing, alongside a new Teams Shared Space license tied to physical desks rather than users. Teams Live Events will be fully retired by June 30, 2026, pushing remaining customers toward the new unified events framework.
These product changes sit against a backdrop of solid underlying performance. In the third quarter of fiscal 2026, ended March 31, Microsoft's Productivity and Business Processes segment, which houses Teams and Microsoft 365 Commercial, grew revenues by $5.1 billion, or 17%, with Microsoft 365 Commercial cloud revenues up 19% on higher revenue per user driven by E5 and Copilot adoption. Total company revenues reached $82.9 billion, up 18%. For the fourth quarter, Microsoft guided to Commercial cloud growth of 15% to 16% in constant currency on an adjusted basis, with sequential increases in net paid seat adds expected to lift ARPU further.
The bet is that broader feature access drives seat expansion and stickiness even as some Premium seats get trimmed at renewal, a trade-off management has not fully quantified. The coming renewal cycles, combined with reported net paid seat adds and ARPU trends in subsequent quarters, will offer the clearest read on how the restructured Teams pricing model is translating into actual monetization for Microsoft's Productivity and Business Processes segment.
How Zoom and Salesforce Approach Collaboration Monetization
Microsoft's Teams repackaging invites comparison with how Zoom Communications ZM and Salesforce CRM monetize collaboration tools. Zoom continues to lean on tiered per-seat plans alongside add-ons like Zoom Phone and AI Companion, rather than folding premium features into lower tiers the way Microsoft has done with Teams Enterprise. Salesforce, through Slack, similarly maintains distinct paid tiers rather than broadly redistributing premium capabilities. Zoom's CEO Sold Company Stock Worth $5.1 Million. What Does That Mean for Investors?

Salesforce fell along with the rest of the software sector, due to fears over disruption from increasingly capable AI models and tools.
However, Salesforce isn't standing still, boosting its Agentforce tools and making several AI-focused acquisitions in the first half.
Management also displayed its confidence with a massive accelerated share repurchase.
Shares of enterprise software giant Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) fell 40.9% in the first half of 2026, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Salesforce, like many other software-as-a-service stocks, experienced a violent sell-off to start 2026, despite reporting relatively solid financial results. This was due to the first quarter's "SaaS-pocalypse," in which the rapid adoption of Anthropic's Claude Code tools and open-source agents such as OpenClaw ushered in the era of agentic AI.

Agentic AI's improving capabilities spurred investors to sell software stocks, as fears emerged that these new AI leaders could disrupt traditional enterprise software.
However, Salesforce countered the threat with a slew of acquisitions and a massive buyback program.
How Salesforce is countering the agentic threat
At first glance, it's a bit of a head-scratcher as to why Salesforce fell as much as it did. Salesforce beat revenue and earnings expectations on each of its earnings reports during the first half. Moreover, the company raised the lower end of fiscal 2027 guidance, remaining performance obligations continued to rise, and management even provided a long-term fiscal 2030 revenue guidance of $63 billion. That's about 37% above this year's revenue outlook of $46 billion, and would amount to roughly an 11% annualized growth rate over three years.
Investors appeared to doubt that long-term projection, however, as artificial intelligence labs released ever-more powerful models. In February, Anthropic released industry-specific plugins for its latest Claude model. These advanced tools indicated Anthropic was muscling into the territory of traditional software. The result was widespread selling across the software sector, from which Salesforce wasn't spared.
But there are several ways Salesforce is pivoting to the new agentic AI reality. First, Salesforce introduced its own AI agents back in late 2024, a suite of automation tools called Agentforce. Agentforce has grown rapidly, already reaching a $3.4 billion annualized run rate. However, that total still only accounts for about 7.5% of this year's revenue guidance. So while Agentforce's growth is positive, it's still relatively small, and wouldn't necessarily offset deterioration in the rest of the business.
To augment its AI capabilities, Salesforce also made several "tuck-in" acquisitions during the first half of the year. In February, Salesforce announced the acquisition of Momentum Boost, a platform that enables the ingestion and analysis of unstructured data, including Zoom Communications video calls. In June, Salesforce announced the acquisition of M3ter, a metering and billing company that facilitates consumption-based pricing. If agents begin replacing more humans in corporate environments, one way software companies can continue to grow will be through consumption-based pricing, rather than "seat" based subscription pricing. So the M3ter buy could be consequential to that transition.
But the most consequential acquisition of the first half was Salesforce's $3.6 billion acquisition of Fin, a software company formerly known as Intercom. Fin is a customer service AI chatbot, and the company has already successfully pivoted from a traditional software subscription business to an agentic AI business that charges customers only for successful, fully automated outcomes. Moreover, Fin has built its own custom model, Apex, specifically for the customer service vertical, freeing Fin from having to pay Anthropic or OpenAI for its underlying intelligence.
Despite the decline, management remains confident
Will all these efforts enable Salesforce to adapt and thrive in an AI future? Only time will tell. However, Salesforce appears confident. During the first half, CEO Marc Benioff repeatedly said, in interviews and on earnings calls, that AI presents a massive growth opportunity for Salesforce rather than a disruption risk.
Not only did Benioff sound confident, but he and Salesforce's management team backed that sentiment up with a massive $25 billion accelerated share repurchase in March, part of a $50 billion total repurchase authorization. That repurchase quickly reduced Salesforce's shares outstanding by 10% over just a few days, though it also increased the company's debt load.
Despite a slight recent bounce in the stock, Salesforce shares still trade at less than 12 times this year's adjusted earnings per share estimates. That's a bargain if Salesforce can continue to survive and grow in the AI era; however, the answer to that overhanging question won't be answered for quarters, if not years.

Roughly four weeks ago, Elon Musk's Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) etched its name in the record books when it debuted, raising $85.7 billion (including the underwriters' overallotment) and nearly tripling Saudi Aramco's capital raise in December 2019.
Anthropic appears to be next. The developer of the Claude large language models is approaching a trillion-dollar valuation in private markets and confidentially filed for an IPO with regulators on June 1. When Anthropic does go public, three of its earliest investors, Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL)(NASDAQ: GOOG), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), and Zoom Communications (NASDAQ: ZM), will be sitting on windfall profits.

Though investors know Alphabet as the brainchild behind globally dominant internet search engine Google, popular streaming platform YouTube, and the world's No. 3 cloud infrastructure services platform Google Cloud, it's also a remarkable early stage investor. For example, the $900 million Google invested in SpaceX in January 2015 is worth approximately $104.6 billion, as of the closing bell on July 2.
Alphabet was also an early investor in Anthropic. It scooped up a 10% stake in the company for $300 million in April 2023 and invested an additional $2 billion in October 2023, with $500 million paid upfront. In April of this year, Alphabet announced a whopping $40 billion add-on investment, with $10 billion upfront and $30 billion dependent on performance milestones.

All told, Alphabet holds a 14% stake in Anthropic that, at a $965 billion private-market valuation, is worth about $135.1 billion.
Amazon
"Magnificent Seven" member Amazon is another juggernaut that Wall Street knows best as a dual-industry leader. Its e-commerce marketplace is globally dominant, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the largest cloud infrastructure services platform by total spend.
But Amazon also has incredible investment chops. It initially invested $1.25 billion in Anthropic in September 2023, followed up with a $2.75 billion add-on investment in March 2024, and deployed another $4 billion in November 2024. In April 2026, it agreed to pour another $25 billion in Anthropic, in return for Anthropic spending more than $100 billion on AWS technologies over the next decade.
As of Amazon's first-quarter operating results, the company held $74.2 billion in combined Anthropic preferred stock and convertible notes, implying that its initial investment of $8 billion had grown more than ninefold.
Zoom Communications
Although it's not on the same level as Alphabet or Amazon, Zoom Communications should also expect a windfall profit once Anthropic goes public.
Most investors remember Zoom as arguably the biggest beneficiary of the COVID-19 pandemic. Employees working from home fostered demand for virtual conferences and communication, making Zoom's video conferencing platform an instant hit.
However, Zoom's biggest hit might be its early investment in Anthropic via Zoom Ventures. While Zoom never fully disclosed how much it invested in Anthropic, Zoom Ventures was named in Anthropic's Series C funding round in May 2023. Zoom also disclosed $51 million for strategic investments in its fiscal quarter ending July 31, 2023.
According to a May filing by Zoom, its initial investment in Anthropic has ballooned to almost $1.3 billion, leading to an estimated windfall profit of more than $1.2 billion.

Anthropic's IPO Will Lead to Windfall Profits for These 3 Early Investors

(RTTNews) - Thursday, Zoom Communications, Inc. (ZM) announced an agreement to acquire Common Room, an AI-native Go-to-Market intelligence platform, as a natural extension to Zoom Revenue Accelerator, the company's revenue orchestration platform. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Following the acquisition, Common Room services are expected to boost Zoom Revenue Accelerator, helping revenue teams to reach the right person at the right moment with the right message at every stage of a deal.
The transaction is anticipated to close in the coming weeks.
In the pre-market hours, ZM is trading at $89.90, down 0.26 percent on the Nasdaq.

Zoom Communications Agrees To Buy Common Room To Boost Its Revenue Orchestration Platform

Key Points
Low growth rates have been pretty consistent, which doesn't offer much optimism for a rally.
Google and Microsoft have their own video conferencing products that keep Zoom's growth in check.
The stock has a high PEG ratio, which is more important than the stock's low P/E ratio.
Zoom Communications (NASDAQ: ZM) dropped by more than 20% over the past month. The pandemic bubble popped for the video conferencing company in 2021, and it looks like the stock will never reclaim those levels. The current drop doesn't seem to be over. Here's why investors shouldn't buy Zoom on the dip.
Some valuation metrics are more important than others
A 12.7 P/E ratio looks attractive on the surface. Zoom commanded a P/E ratio in the 20s for most of 2025, but growth rates have also shrunk over the years. Zoom's revenue has a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.9%, but only a 3.5% CAGR over the past three years.

Revenue growth rates have steadily dropped since the pandemic, when Zoom was necessary for day-to-day communication. Zoom isn't going to get the catalyst of global lockdowns again, so it's easy to interpret its pandemic success as a one-off event.
The stalling of Zoom's revenue growth highlights the importance of looking at the PEG ratio instead of the P/E ratio. While the P/E ratio measures a stock's price compared to its earnings, the PEG ratio also includes growth rates. Zoom currently has a 4.2 PEG ratio, while a fairly valued stock typically has a 1.0 PEG ratio. Anything higher than that is usually overvalued.
It doesn't get any better
Zoom reported 5.5% year-over-year revenue growth in its fiscal 2027 first quarter, ended April 30. Its high-growth days are over, and guidance for upcoming results reflects this reality. Zoom anticipates $1.265 billion to $1.27 billion for its fiscal 2027 Q2 revenue. The high end of guidance only implies a 4% year-over-year increase.
Zoom also anticipates $5.085 billion in full-year fiscal 2027 revenue at the midpoint of guidance, which would be a 4.4% year-over-year jump. These aren't eye-catching numbers, and while a P/E ratio of 12.7 suggests setting a low bar, the PEG ratio truly captures how overvalued the stock is.
The most important red flag with Zoom is that it has become a commodity. Nvidia commands a high valuation because no one can produce similar GPUs. However, Zoom has several competitors that offer very similar experiences. Google Meet and Microsoft Teams are two viable competitors that have more generous features for free accounts and lower prices for paid plans.
Zoom's entire business model revolves around video conferencing. There are other options in the industry, and with few ways to innovate in video conferencing, Zoom doesn't have many options to generate sizable growth rates moving forward.

This year is shaping up to be a historic in terms of companies going public. Artificial intelligence (AI) start-ups Anthropic and OpenAI plan their initial public offerings (IPOs) this year, but unquestionably, the biggest debut is expected to be SpaceX. The company is looking to raise $75 billion in its offering, which will dwarf previous records by a wide margin.
The hype machine is ramping up at dizzying proportions, and that's understandable. The chance to get in on the ground floor and ride the rocket maker to new heights is certainly a tempting proposition. So, should investors buy SpaceX on IPO day? Let's see what lessons we can glean from history.

Ready for launch
Before we address the question at hand, it's worth looking at what the SpaceX offering will entail and what investors will get for their money.
In the company's latest S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (aka SpaceX) revealed it will offer 555,555,555 shares of Class A common stock at an IPO price of $135 per share, raising roughly $75 billion and valuing the company at $1.77 trillion. The stock will be listed on the Nasdaq exchange using the symbol "SPCX."
SpaceX has three distinct business segments: rocket launch, satellite internet, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The most high-profile of the three is the rocket launch business, which has launched roughly 650 Falcon rockets with a 99% success rate. It also pioneered "reusable" rockets, making space travel more cost-effective.
The company also boasts the largest network of broadband and mobile satellites in Low-Earth orbit, with approximately 9,600 Starlink satellites, delivering service to millions of customers in 164 countries.
Last but not least is the company's AI segment, including Grok AI, thanks to the recent merger with xAI. SpaceX has ambitious plans to build and launch solar-powered orbital data centers, which it believes will offer "far greater scale and efficiency than terrestrial alternatives."
Late last week, SpaceX revealed in a regulatory filing that it had reached a deal with Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG), under which the Google-parent will pay $920 million per month between Oct. 2026 and June 2029 for compute capacity, for a deal valued at $30 billion. This comes on the heels of a similar deal reached with Anthropic, which is paying SpaceX $1.25 billion per month.
The company's financial results are intriguing. In 2025, SpaceX generated revenue of $18.7 billion, up 33% year over year, but recorded a net loss of $4.9 billion under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). On an adjusted basis, the company's results look more appealing, with adjusted EBITDA of $6.6 billion, though this ignores stock-based compensation, depreciation, and amortization, among other very real business expenses.
These financials don't include the recently inked agreements, which will no doubt improve its financial position.
What history says
While there are plenty of reasons to be excited about the SpaceX IPO, a look at history can be instructional, as the past is rife with examples of stocks that fell significantly in the wake of their public offerings.
Sam Grelck, equity strategy analyst at Truist, reviewed data from the 30 biggest IPOs of the past 15 years, and his findings are telling. More than half of these stocks were underwater after the first week, and also at 12 months post-IPO, with 17 of 30 stocks in the red. The best-performing stock in the group was Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR), which was up 153% after the first year but shed 53% of its value at one point during the year. Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) had the worst track record, losing 74% in the first year, after falling as much as 90%. The full data is illustrated in the chart below.
In nearly every case, the first year was a rocky one for these newly listed companies, which serves as a stark reminder for investors. Recently minted stocks can be particularly volatile, so IPO investing isn't for the faint of heart.
A couple of other caveats for thoughtful investors. While the offering price is $135 per share, retail investors may not be able to get that price. The hype ahead of the SpaceX launch has reached a fever pitch, which could drive the stock price up from the moment it begins trading, causing investors to pay a much higher price.
Furthermore, while investors will be able to own SpaceX stock, make no mistake about who will be in control. Founder and CEO Elon Musk will control 82% of the company's voting power, leaving retail investors with little say in matters requiring shareholder approval.
Last, but certainly not least, if SpaceX achieves its $1.77 trillion valuation, the stock would be selling for roughly 95 times sales, a premium valuation to be sure.
For investors who are still determined to buy the SpaceX IPO, it should be a small part of a well-balanced portfolio. It may also be worth waiting for the inevitable stock price fall to buy at a more reasonable price.
