As the weather warms heading into June, so does the space industry. The much-anticipated SpaceX initial public offering is creating a frenzy among aerospace companies. There are obvious adjacent winners, such as Rocket Lab, which has seen its valuation launch into the stratosphere.
Yet other space stocks are trading at prices that aren't light-years ahead of reality. Let's have a look at which ones are flying under the radar but are worth exploring. The three stocks mentioned below have all performed incredibly well in the short term, but are generally less well-known in the mainstream and have much smaller market values than Rocket Lab.

1. Intuitive Machines is a (literal) Moonshot
Intuitive Machines (NASDAQ: LUNR) is an interesting company in that its main focus is lunar access and exploration. Moon infrastructure is proving to be big business. The company is expanding its capabilities and earning industry trust as it recently acquired Lanteris Space Systems and collaborates with NASA on the Commercial Lunar Payload Services program.
Intuitive's backlog has grown to $1.1 billion since it won more than $428 million in new contracts. The company's first-quarter 2026 revenue grew to a record $186 billion, nearly triple the year-earlier figure. In its latest earnings report, management reaffirmed its full-year guidance of $900 million to $1 billion.
The stock has shot to the Moon so far in 2026, up more than 110% as of this writing.
2. Redwire is an inexpensive ticket to space
Much of the space-related sector trades at sky-high valuations; Redwire (NYSE: RDW), however, is much more reasonably priced. It isn't quite as flashy as some other space-related companies, but it has a portfolio of space infrastructure technologies.
Redwire is diversifying its revenue streams as it leans into its defense business, particularly through the 2025 acquisition of Edge Autonomy. First-quarter 2026 revenue reached $97 million, a nearly 58% increase from last year.
The company also boasts a record backlog of $498 million. Multi-year, multi-million-dollar deals with NATO allies and the U.S. Space Force sent Redwire's shares soaring. The stock has risen about 190% since the start of the year, but it still has a market value of just $4 billion.
3. Spire Global is worth observing
In what is probably the least-known company on this list, Earth-observation company Spire Global (NYSE: SPIR) operates a satellite network with a surprising number of use cases across industries such as meteorology and aviation.
In a sector with immense levels of spending, Spire Global is a breath of fresh air for its solid financial fundamentals. The company sold its maritime business in 2025 and used the proceeds to pay down debt.
The company anticipates revenue of $75 million to $85 million in 2026, representing 50% year-over-year growth. The stock has gained 145% year to date.
To infinity and beyond for these three space companies
There's an influx of capital moving into space-related companies. While the more flashy, headline-grabbing businesses like SpaceX hog the spotlight, there are plenty of under-the-radar stocks that are financially sound and could make for a lucrative long-term investment.

3 Space Stocks Flying Under the Radar and Worth Buying This Month

Just one week ago, I named Spire Global (NYSE: SPIR) as one of my top three closest-to-bargain-priced space stocks. I pointed out how, even after selling off its marquee holding, its maritime satellite data business, to Kpler last year, Spire was still bringing in $79 million in annual sales and had been pegged by Wall Street analysts for 22% sales growth next year -- and potentially positive profits in 2029.
My timing couldn't possibly have been worse.

Timing is everything
Just as my article about Spire was being published, Spire itself was publishing a bit of news of its own. In an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission -- also published on April 23 -- Spire revealed that the Canadian Public Works and Government Services ministry was terminating "for convenience" a 71.8 million Canadian dollar ($52.7 million) contract it had previously signed with Spire.
Under the terms of the contract, Spire had been hired to design and build 10 CubeSats (a type of small satellite) to form a new "WildFireSat" constellation of satellites to monitor wildfires in Canada for the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). But now it appears that this is not to be -- and that Spire will not, in fact, collect $52.7 million for building the constellation.
What it means for Spire
How bad is this news for Spire, exactly? Pretty darn bad.
According to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, Spire's total revenue in 2025 was only $71.6 million. The lost CSA contract thus represents approximately nine months' worth of revenue for Spire. Assuming the contract remains terminated, that's going to set back Spire's march toward profitability by nearly a year.
Perhaps as a result of this, no analysts polled by S&P Global currently predict Spire turning profitable for years.
Admittedly, not all hope is lost. In an article on the contract loss this week, website SpaceNews observes that Spire is considering the contract "paused," not canceled outright. And Spire is actively seeking "clarity" from CSA on just exactly what is going on.
Encouragingly, SpaceNews confirms that CSA "remains committed to delivering wildfire monitoring capability from space by 2029." It hasn't lost interest in fighting wildfires. It's just not clear whether it's still interested in collaborating with Spire Global on that mission, whether the problem is finding funds in the budget or something more technical about the solution Spire has proposed.
Hope still lingers. But for the time being, until better news emerges, I'm personally removing Spire Global from my list of potential space stock buys.

Spire Global Just Lost a Contract That Would Have Been Equal to 9 Months of 2025 Revenue

How much should you pay for a space stock?
Examining the history of this newest of investment sectors, and crunching the numbers on valuation, I concluded a few years back that the "right" price to pay for a space stock -- assuming it has some sales but not yet profits and is growing quickly -- generally ranges from 2 to 4 times trailing sales.

But that particular space train has totally left the station.
Thanks to the attention the space sector has been attracting since the recent Artemis II mission landed and after SpaceX filed its IPO prospectus, most space stocks have soared well past these conservative numbers. Rocket company Firefly Aerospace (NASDAQ: FLY), for example, currently costs 19 times trailing sales, and the even more famous Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB) sports a 75 P/S ratio. Forget about low; these days, you have to look long and hard to find a space stock trading at even high single-digit multiples to sales.
And yet there are still a handful of these.
1. Redwire: The cheapest stock in space
I wrote about Redwire (NYSE: RDW) earlier this week, so I won't go into great detail about it again here.
Suffice it to say that at a price-to-sales ratio of only 5.8x, Redwire is currently the cheapest way to invest in space stocks. Redwire lacks a single, defining product to capture investor imaginations the way Firefly's Alpha rocket or Rocket Lab's Electron (or Neutron) do. What it does have is a whole portfolio of space technology that's essential for building infrastructure in space: roll-out solar arrays to provide power, space station docks to connect spacecraft to the places they're visiting, and space-rated camera systems for research and navigation.
Redwire also has an ambitious defense business following its acquisition of Edge Autonomy last year. It's no longer a "pure play" on space, but thanks to the extra revenue from its new military drones division, it's now a more diversified business -- and arguably safer to invest in.
2. Spire Global: Still in space, but now smaller
Financial stability is a selling point for the second stock on our list as well: Earth observation satellite stock Spire Global (NYSE: SPIR).
Spire finally succeeded in selling its maritime satellite data business to Kpler last year, bringing in $241 million in cash, paying down its debt, and replenishing its bank account -- at the cost of shrinking revenue by 40%.
Post-sale, Spire comprises three main businesses: space services, aviation, and weather and climate. These are projected to bring in nearly $79 million in revenue this year (down from $110 million in 2024, before the maritime sale). The business is not going to be profitable and will probably burn about $46 million in cash. On the plus side, however, that's half the cash Spire burned in 2025 -- and cash burn is projected to fall by half again in 2027, to $21 million.
With $82 million in the bank, Spire's probably got enough cash left to keep its business going through 2028. With revenue rising once again (analysts polled by S&P Global Market Intelligence forecast 2028 sales growth of 22%), Spire's got a fighting chance of breaking even in 2029, turning profitable, and generating positive free cash flow.
It's not a sure thing, but at a market capitalization of just $700 million and a valuation below 9x sales, Spire's still one of the cheapest ways to bet on space stocks today.
3. Raise your hand if you heard about the Arxis IPO?
Our final space stock today is a bit of a wild card and a very recent IPO: Arxis (NASDAQ: ARXS).
Bloomfield, Connecticut-based Arxis went public last week, selling 40.5 million shares at $28 a share, raising $1.1 billion. Much like Redwire, it's a lower-profile "space stock" in that Arxis manufactures electronic and mechanical components used in space, such as lubricating bearings, seals, springs, gaskets, and ducting (all of which help a spacecraft keep the space out and the air in). Most of the company's revenue comes from the space and defense industries, but Arxis also has industrial, medical, and semiconductor customers.
Shares that started at $28 quickly advanced to $38, giving Arxis a $15.2 billion market capitalization. With $1.6 billion in annual revenue, that works out to a price-to-sales ratio of about 9.5x.
According to the company's IPO prospectus, no single customer accounts for more than 7% of Arxis's revenue, and its top 10 customers combined account for only 36% of sales. So the company's broadly diversified. Even if Arxis lacks a single "marquee" product to draw investors' attention, demand for its products is likely to grow broadly and generally track the growth rate of the space economy as a whole.
Simply put: The more "stuff" goes to space, the bigger I expect Arxis's market to grow.

Spire Global, Inc. (SPIR) shares ended the last trading session 20.3% higher at $21.56. The jump came on an impressive volume with a higher-than-average number of shares changing hands in the session. This compares to the stock's 65.5% gain over the past four weeks.
Spire Global entered into a securities purchase agreement for a private placement that is expected to result in gross proceeds of nearly $70 million to the company before deducting placement agent fees and offering expenses.
The company plans to use the net proceeds mainly for general business needs and growth. This includes expanding in U.S. and global markets, improving sales and marketing, advancing its technology, and strengthening cybersecurity to support secure data and satellite operations.
This company is expected to post quarterly loss of $0.38 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +39.7%. Revenues are expected to be $15.07 million, down 36.9% from the year-ago quarter.
Earnings and revenue growth expectations certainly give a good sense of the potential strength in a stock, but empirical research shows that trends in earnings estimate revisions are strongly correlated with near-term stock price movements.
For Spire, the consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 65.2% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. And a negative trend in earnings estimate revisions doesn't usually translate into price appreciation. So, make sure to keep an eye on SPIR going forward to see if this recent jump can turn into more strength down the road.

VirTra, Inc. (VTSI) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.11 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.01 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.11 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.
This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 1,000%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this company would post earnings of $0.07 per share when it actually produced a loss of $0.08, delivering a surprise of -214.29%.
Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.
VirTra, which belongs to the Zacks Electronics - Military industry, posted revenues of $7.16 million for the quarter ended March 2025, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 8.32%. VirTra, Inc. (VTSI) Surpasses Q1 Earnings and Revenue Estimates

"Space is hard," goes the one saying. It's especially hard for investors, who have struggled to make money in the nascent space industry ever since it burst into being with the Virgin Galactic IPO more than five years ago.
Initial enthusiasm for space stocks sparked a wave of SPAC IPOs in the sector, but several of those have already failed. Even among the survivors, unprofitable space stocks have faced difficulties in the stock market in recent months. From market-top back in mid-February to today, the ARK Space Exploration & Innovation ETF, for example, has lost 12% of its value -- and was down closer to 25% earlier this month.

Now, "every cloud has a silver lining" is another great old saying. For investors, the silver lining of the sell-off in space stocks is that a lot of these companies got cheaper to invest in. After the first big sell-off and the recent rebound, investors with $100 or so to gamble on a high-risk, high-reward situation might be able to find some good values in space today.
Opportunities in space
I'm not going to talk about either of the two most popular space stocks today, AST SpaceMobile or Rocket Lab. Although at a market capitalization of $7.5 billion and more than $10 billion, respectively, these are clearly the highest-profile pure-play "space stocks," at valuations of more than 1,700 times trailing sales (AST) and even just 23 times sales (Rocket Lab) -- and with no profits, and so no price-to-earnings ratio -- they're also arguably the two most overvalued space stocks.
Instead, I'm going to focus on the three cheapest space stocks, which are, therefore, potentially -- to my mind at least -- the three smartest space stocks to buy for upside potential. These are:
BlackSky (NYSE: BKSY), Redwire (NYSE: RDW), and Spire Global (NYSE: SPIR).
Time to buy BlackSky?
With a total market capitalization of less than $270 million and a price-to-sales (P/S) valuation of just 2.6, BlackSky stock is arguably the cheapest of the new batch of space stocks at present. That said, it's also cheap for a reason.
Unprofitable today and not expected to earn its first profit before 2027, according to analysts polled by S&P Global Market Intelligence, BlackSky is also in the middle of a cash crunch. Although it's won some nice-size contracts that are bringing money in, the company is burning through about $56 million in negative free cash flow annually, and BlackSky only has about $52 million in the bank. That means it's going to be out of cash in less than a year and will need to either take on more debt (it already has $116.5 million in debt) or sell more stock.
My hunch is that it will sell stock. But BlackSky might also, potentially, sell itself to a bigger space company and generate a quicker payoff for its shareholders.
Redwire could make you some green
Only slightly more expensive than BlackSky is space infrastructure specialist Redwire. Although Redwire boasts a market capitalization of $863 million, the company also boasts three times BlackSky's annual revenue, such that Redwire's P/S ratio is only 2.8.
Redwire isn't profitable, either, and its cash reserves are even more stretched than BlackSky's, with less than $34 million in the bank at last report. The good news is that Redwire burned less than $24 million last year. The better news is that analyst forecasts suggest Redwire could turn free cash flow (FCF)-positive as early as this year and turn generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)-profitable by 2026, a year before BlackSky.
Reaching FCF-positive would be a huge accomplishment for Redwire, assuring investors of its ability to continue as a going concern without the need for further stock sales. It would be a major catalyst that could drive the stock price higher, and it could happen this year.
Spire Global inspires value investors
Last but not least, Spire Global costs $345 million and has a price-to-sales ratio -- now -- of 3.1. Be prepared to see that number change dramatically in a quarter or two, though, because Spire appears to be about to strike a deal that could set its stock up to explode higher.
Spire is in the midst of negotiations to sell its maritime data business to Belgian data company Kpler. Earlier in the year, completion of this deal was in question, but it appears to be back on track now, and a sale could be imminent, yielding a $241 million cash windfall for Spire that would permit it to pay off all its debts, and also fund operations for the next three years (at the company's current burn rate).
Granted, Spire would still be a long way from profitable or FCF-positive. But successfully closing this deal would provide a near-term catalyst that could lift Spire shares significantly. And this catalyst could occur in a matter of months, if not weeks.
