However, Dexcom is not without headwinds. Gross margin guidance for fiscal 2025 was revised down to nearly 62%, primarily due to supply-chain disruptions that began in late 2024. To maintain customer continuity, Dexcom resorted to costly chartered flights and now faces a prolonged inventory rebuild. These freight-related expenses, combined with nearly 50 bps of inflation from raw material tariffs and FX volatility, are expected to weigh on profitability through the third quarter.
Separately, Dexcom is addressing a warning letter from the FDA tied to 2024 inspections. While it does not restrict product approvals or sales, it demands ongoing resource allocation and operational focus. The company is cooperating with the agency and has begun implementing corrective measures.
Lastly, while Dexcom is advocating Medicare coverage for non-insulin T2D users, progress hinges on a randomized controlled trial set to report results in late 2025 or early 2026. A favorable outcome could unlock another major addressable market.

CGM Competition on the Rise
While Dexcom leads in sensor accuracy and access, its three listed rivals — Abbott Laboratories ABT, Medtronic MDT and Senseonics SENS — are rapidly innovating, creating a more competitive and segmented CGM market landscape in 2025 and beyond.

DXCM's Access Gains and Operational Strength Offset Margin Pressures

(RTTNews) - Shares of Senseonics Holdings, Inc. (SENS) are down 13.33% in premarket trading Tuesday, following the company's financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2024.
For the fourth quarter of 2024, Senseonics generated $8.3 million in revenue, slightly up from $8.0 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, driven by the launch of its Eversense 365 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system.
The net loss for the fourth quarter of 2024 was $15.5 million, or $0.02 per share, compared to a net loss of $17.2 million, or $0.03 per share, in the same period in 2023. The improved net loss was primarily attributed to better margins on the 365-day product.
The company's revenue for the full year of 2024 was relatively flat at $22.47 million compared to $22.39 million in 2023.
For the Full Year of 2024, the company reported a wider net loss of $78.62 million, or $0.12 per share, compared to a net loss of $69.39 million, or $0.11 per share, in 2023.
The company also announced that its Eversense 365 CGM, approved and launched in the U.S. in 2024, is showing promising performance.
In December 2024, the company achieved its highest monthly total in history, with approximately 600 new patient shipments. Additionally, in 2024, the company surpassed 2,400 annual U.S. Eversense prescribers, the majority of whom were new to prescribing the product.
The company's global patient base grew 56 percent in 2024, reaching approximately 6,000 patients.
Looking ahead to 2025, Senseonics expects its total revenue to be between $34 million and $38 million, driven by the continued rollout of Eversense 365. The total revenue was $22.47 million in 2024.
The company expects to double its global patient base in 2025, with gross margins projected to improve throughout the year to between 25 and 30 percent.
As of December 31, 2024, Senseonics had $74.9 million in cash, cash equivalents, and restricted cash, with $56.2 million in outstanding indebtedness.
SENS closed Monday's (Mar.03 2025) trading at $0.87, up by 2.35 percent. In premarket trading Tuesday, the stock is down by 13.33 percent at $0.75 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Senseonics Expects 2025 Revenue To Rise By 51% To 69%

(SENS) a medical technology company has announced the completion of its CE Mark submission for the Eversense 365 Continuous Glucose Monitoring or CGM system, the world's first and only one-year CGM. The Eversense 365 system, approved by the U.S. FDA in September 2024 and launched in October 2024, is now one step closer to being available in the European Union or EU.
The submission, prepared under the EU Medical Device Regulation or MDR, will allow the commercialization of the system in several EU countries through Senseonics' commercial partner, Ascensia Diabetes Care.

Senseonics Completes CE Mark Submission For Eversense 365 CGM System

Senseonics Holdings, Inc. SENS, along with Ascensia Diabetes Care, announced the receipt of the FDA’s clearance for the next-generation Eversense 365 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system for people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes aged 18 years and above. Eversense 365 has been cleared as an integrated CGM (iCGM) system, indicating that it can integrate with compatible medical devices, including insulin pumps, as part of an automated insulin delivery system.
Ascensia, a subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corporation, expects to initiate the U.S. launch of Eversense 365 U.S. in the fourth quarter of 2024, with work ongoing to transition coverage availability to facilitate immediate access to as many users as possible.
The latest FDA clearance of Senseonics’ Eversense 365 is expected to significantly solidify its foothold in the CGM business across the nation.

Following the announcement on Sept. 17, 2024, shares of the company moved nearly 20% south to $0.35 at yesterday’s close.
Historically, the company has gained a high level of synergies from its partnerships and regulatory clearances. Although the latest regulatory clearance is likely to be beneficial for SENS’ top-line growth going forward, the stock plunged as it continued its week-long downtrend.
