CRM Q1 Earnings: Will AI and Cloud Growth Outweigh Macro Challenges?

Looking at the underlying holdings of the ETFs in our coverage universe at ETF Channel, we have compared the trading price of each holding against the average analyst 12-month forward target price, and computed the weighted average implied analyst target price for the ETF itself. For the iShares Core S&P U.S. Growth ETF (Symbol: IUSG), we found that the implied analyst target price for the ETF based upon its underlying holdings is $156.17 per unit.
With IUSG trading at a recent price near $139.91 per unit, that means that analysts see 11.62% upside for this ETF looking through to the average analyst targets of the underlying holdings. Look Under The Hood: IUSG Has 12% Upside

(RTTNews) - Rambus Inc. (RMBS), a provider of chips and IP solutions, reported a significant rise in profit for the first quarter that ended March 31, driven by robust growth across its product and royalty revenues.
Net income climbed to $60.3 million, or $0.56 per share, from $32.9 million, or $0.30 per share, in the prior-year quarter. Revenue grew 41 percent year-over-year to $166.7 million from $117.9 million, reflecting higher contributions from product sales and royalty payments.
Product revenue surged to $76.3 million from $50.4 million a year ago, while royalties rose sharply to $74.0 million from $47.5 million. Contract and other revenue, however, edged down to $16.4 million from $20.0 million in the same period last year.
Shares of Rambus closed Wednesday at $52.22, down $1.28 or 2.51 percent on the Nasdaq.

Rambus RMBS shares have plunged 22.9% year to date, underperforming the Zacks Electronics - Semiconductors industry, Zacks Computer and Technology sector and the S&P 500 index’s return of 33%, 25.7% and 23.4%, respectively.
Rambus stock continues to face a steady decline due to prolonged pressure on its top-line growth because of reduced spending on traditional servers by enterprise customers. The demand for conventional servers, which have historically driven Rambus' memory interface and security solutions, is declining. The broader enterprise market is shifting its focus toward artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning workloads that require specialized hardware like graphics processing units rather than traditional CPU-based servers.
This shift results in less capital allocation toward traditional server setups, thereby reducing the need for Rambus’ memory solutions designed for these systems. With capital expenditures increasingly favoring AI-driven systems, RMBS is experiencing reduced demand in its core business.
These factors have also contributed to Rambus reporting lower-than-expected revenues for the second and third quarters of 2024, further eroding investor confidence and forcing its stock price down. The company’s strategic focus on next-generation memory solutions places it in a strong position to benefit from the increasing demand for AI-specific infrastructure. The introduction of new products, including Client Clock driver chip, PCIe 7 IP solutions and HBM4 controller intellectual property chips for next-generation AI workloads, will drive revenues over the long run.
Rambus is also expanding its security portfolio to address the needs of next-generation connected devices and cloud infrastructures. RMBS and Cisco have been in collaboration for a decade with the latter using Rambus’ security technologies in its products.
These advancements and tailwinds are likely to contribute to Rambus’ top-line growth. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for RMBS’ 2024 top line is pegged at $577.9 million, indicating year-over-year growth of 3.5%.
