The Food Safety segment offers diagnostic test kits and related products to detect dangerous and unintended substances in food and animal feed, including foodborne pathogens, spoilage organisms, natural toxins, food allergens, genetic modifications, ruminant by-products, meat speciation, drug residues, pesticide residues, and general sanitation concerns; and AccuPoint Advanced rapid sanitation test to detect the presence of adenosine triphosphate, a chemical found in living cells, as well as provides  genomics-based diagnostic technology and software systems that help testers to objectively analyze and store their results and perform analysis on the results from multiple locations over extended periods. The segment offers its products primarily to milling and grain, meat and poultry, prepared foods and ingredients, fruits and vegetables, seafood, dairy, beverage, water, healthcare, traditional culture media markets, food service, and dietary supplements markets. The Animal Safety segment provides veterinary instruments, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, topicals, parasiticides, diagnostic products, rodent control products, cleaners, disinfectants, insect control products, and genomics testing services marketed through veterinarians, retailers, livestock producers, and animal health product distributors, for the animal safety market. The segment offers its products for companion animal veterinarians; livestock producers, veterinarians, and breed associations; retailers; breeding and genetics companies; diagnostic labs and universities; distributors; and other manufacturers and government agencies. Neogen Corporation was incorporated in 1981 and is headquartered in Lansing, Michigan.

SPSM's Holdings Could Mean 19% Gain Potential

(RTTNews) - Neogen Corporation (NEOG), a global provider of food safety solutions, has completed the sale of its global cleaners and disinfectants business to Kersia Group for $130 million in cash, with additional contingent payments based on future performance.
The move is part of Neogen's strategic plan to sharpen its focus on core operations. The proceeds from the sale will be used to repay $100 million in debt this quarter, which is expected to reduce net leverage by approximately 0.4x on a pro forma basis.
Neogen CEO John Adent stated that the transaction is a significant step in streamlining the company's operations and aligning its focus with its core business. He expressed confidence in Kersia as a long-term steward of the divested business and appreciation for their cooperation during the transition.
Friday NEOG closed at $4.74, or 2.4691% lower on the NasdaqGS.

Neogen Sells Cleaners And Disinfectants Unit To Kersia For $130 Mln

Investors eyeing a purchase of Neogen Corp (Symbol: NEOG) stock, but cautious about paying the going market price of $5.58/share, might benefit from considering selling puts among the alternative strategies at their disposal. One interesting put contract in particular, is the October put at the $5 strike, which has a bid at the time of this writing of 70 cents. Collecting that bid as the premium represents a 14% return against the $5 commitment, or a 31% annualized rate of return (at Stock Options Channel we call this the YieldBoost).
Selling a put does not give an investor access to NEOG's upside potential the way owning shares would, because the put seller only ends up owning shares in the scenario where the contract is exercised. And the person on the other side of the contract would only benefit from exercising at the $5 strike if doing so produced a better outcome than selling at the going market price.
