Carnival Corporation & plc CCL reported impressive second-quarter fiscal 2025 (ended May 31, 2025) results, with adjusted earnings and revenues beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate and increasing year over year.
This upside was primarily backed by sustained demand strength and robust onboard revenues.
The company surpassed its 2026 SEA Change financial targets 18 months ahead of schedule, with adjusted EBITDA per ALBD growing 52% and adjusted ROIC increasing more than 12.5% in less than two years. Moreover, it also met its third 2026 SEA Change commitment to cut carbon intensity by 20% from the 2019 level. This strong financial outlook underscores the company's operational efficiency and strategic growth initiatives.

In the quarter under review, the company reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of 35 cents, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 24 cents by 45.8%. In the year-ago quarter, CCL posted an adjusted EPS of 11 cents.

During the quarter, passenger ticket revenues amounted to $4.1 billion, up from $3.75 billion reported in the prior-year quarter. Our estimate for passenger ticket revenues was $3.96 billion.
Onboard and other revenues increased to $2.22 billion from $2.03 billion reported in the year-ago quarter. Our estimate for Onboard and other revenues was pegged at $2.21 billion.
Carnival’s Financials
Adjusted net income in the quarter amounted to $470 million, significantly up 250.7% year over year from $134 million. The uptick was attributable to higher ticket prices, increased onboard spending and favorable timing of expenses between the quarters.
Adjusted EBITDA totaled $1.51 billion, up from $1.2 billion reported in the prior-year quarter.
CCL’s Balance Sheet
As of May 31, 2025, cash and cash equivalents were $2.15 billion compared with $1.21 billion as of Nov. 30, 2024. Carnival ended the quarter with liquidity of $5.17 billion. Total debt (current and long-term) as of May 31 was $27.3 billion compared with $27.48 billion as of Nov. 30, 2024.
Bookings Update of Carnival
Carnival continues to capitalize on robust demand, with its cumulative advanced booked position for the remainder of 2025 remaining strong, thanks to robust occupancy and favorable pricing (on cc basis). The company’s strategic yield management approach has driven record-high cumulative advance bookings, with pricing at historical peaks for each quarter and occupancy levels aligning with last year’s records.
Additionally, the booked position for 2026 is in line with 2025 record levels, with historical high prices. With the booking curve extending further than ever before, CCL remains well-positioned for long-term growth.
Total customer deposits as of May 31 were $8.08 billion compared with $7.3 billion reported in the preceding quarter.
CCL Unveils Q3 View & Raises Fiscal 2025 Outlook
For third-quarter fiscal 2025, Carnival expects adjusted EBITDA to be approximately $2.87 billion. It expects adjusted net income to be about $1.8 billion. The company expects adjusted EPS to be nearly $1.30.
For fiscal 2025, the company now anticipates adjusted EBITDA to be approximately $6.9 billion (up from the previous expectation of about $6.7 billion), reflecting more than 10% growth year over year. Adjusted net income is now anticipated to be about $2.69 billion, up from the previously expected value of $2.49 billion. CCL now expects adjusted EPS to be approximately $1.97, up from $1.83 expected earlier.

Marriott Strengthens Its Midscale Portfolio
In 2023, Marriott's acquisition of the City Express brand marked a significant milestone — its entry into the affordable midscale market. This strategic move unlocked growth potential in key regions like Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica while paving the way for fresh opportunities in secondary and tertiary markets.
Since then, City Express has demonstrated strong performance, expanding across CALA with 12 new hotel signings in 2024, comprising 1,236 rooms. The portfolio now includes 153 hotels with 17,777 rooms, showcasing Marriott’s commitment to meeting the needs of budget-conscious travelers.
Emphasis on Development Strategies Bodes Well
By focusing on new builds and conversions, Marriott is offering flexibility for developers while delivering value-driven options for guests. This approach positions the brand to meet the needs of business and leisure travelers in secondary and tertiary markets across CALA.
The company intends to open City Express by Marriott in Argentina with two properties, including City Express by Marriott Iguazu (in the second quarter of 2025) and City Express by Marriott Anelo Neuquen (in 2027). In Bolivia, the company expects to open City Express by Marriott Santa Cruz de la Sierra in early 2027.
In Nicaragua, the company stated the conversion of three properties, including City Express by Marriott Managua, City Express by Marriott Estelí and City Centro by Marriott La Recoleccion, in the third quarter of 2025. Additionally, Peru will welcome a dual-brand property in Casma by 2027, featuring City Express Plus by Marriott and City Express Suites by Marriott.

Marriott to Boost City Express Brand Presence Across CALA

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. RCL recently announced an agreement with Chantiers de l'Atlantique to build a sixth Edge Series ship for Celebrity Cruises. Scheduled for delivery in 2028, the new vessel, referred to as Edge 6 or "Xcel 2," will join the likes of Celebrity Xcel (set to launch in November 2025), Celebrity Ascent, Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Edge.
Celebrity Cruises’ Edge Series focuses on premium cruising by combining cutting-edge design with exceptional guest experiences. During the third quarter of 2024, RCL launched Utopia of the Seas, a new ship quickly reshaping its short Caribbean offerings. Demand for Utopia has significantly outpaced expectations in both ticket pricing and onboard revenues.

Royal Caribbean Expands Celebrity Cruises' Fleet With Sixth Ship

(RTTNews) - Manchester United (MANU) announced Wednesday a third-quarter net loss of 71.4 million British pounds or 43.12 pence per basic share, sharply wider than 5.6 million pounds or 3.40 pence per basic share in the prior-year quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted loss per basic share for the quarter was 24.47 pence, compared to adjusted loss per basic share of 7.41 pence in the year-ago quarter.
Total revenues for the quarter declined 19.6 percent to 136.7 pounds from 170.0 pounds in the same quarter last year.
Broadcasting revenue dipped 26.0 percent to 37.5 million pounds and matchday revenue slipped 40.7 percent to 29.6 million pounds, while commercial revenue edged up 0.3 percent to 69.6 million pounds from last year.
Looking ahead to fiscal 2024, the company reiterates its previous revenue guidance of 635 million pounds to 665 million pounds and its previous adjusted EBITDA guidance of 125 million pounds to 150 million pounds.

Manchester United Q3 Loss Sharply Widens, But Reiterates FY24 Revenue Outlook

March 28 (Reuters) - Liverpool and Manchester United have jointly launched an education programme through their foundations to tackle tragedy-related abuse, the clubs said in the run-up to their Premier League game at Old Trafford on April 7.
The clubs have repeatedly condemned fans chanting in reference to the Hillsborough tragedy, the Heysel Stadium disaster, and the Munich air disaster to mock opposition supporters, a practice liable to criminal prosecution.
"We fully support this event hosted by Liverpool and Manchester United and are working closely with both clubs to develop and deliver this education initiative," Premier League Director of Community Nick Perchard said in a statement.
The two foundations will develop the programme further in partnership with the league and are committed to making it an annual part of their engagement across the Merseyside and Greater Manchester regions.
Last week, a Manchester United supporter was charged by Greater Manchester Police in relation to tragedy-related abuse towards Liverpool fans during FA Cup quarter-final on March 17.
Arsenal also welcomed banning orders handed out to three fans after they pleaded guilty to tragedy-related abuse during an FA Cup match against Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on Jan. 7.

CHELTENHAM, England, March 14 (Reuters) - Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson celebrated his first Cheltenham Festival winner as a co-owner on Thursday and then completed a double 40 minutes later before old rival Harry Redknapp denied him the treble.
The Scot was in the winners' enclosure after Monmiral, a 25-1 shot ridden by Harry Cobden and trained by Paul Nicholls, chased down Kyntara to win the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle.
"Well that was fantastic... It’s my first winner here, John (Hales, co-owner) is the master, he chooses the horses and we back him all the way," he told ITV Racing.
Protektorat, at 17-2, then beat favourite Envoi Allen and jockey Rachael Blackmore to win the Ryanair Chase on day three of the Festival that culminates with the Gold Cup on Friday.
"I've waited 20 years and now had two winners in 40 minutes," said Ferguson.
The 82-year-old was joined at the Prestbury Park racecourse by former United captain Bryan Robson and ex-Premier League manager Sam Allardyce, who celebrated the win together.
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Redknapp then watched his horse Shakem Up'Arry -- named after the regular shout of a fan behind the West Ham dugout when he was boss there -- beat Ferguson's Il Ridoto in the Plate Handicap Chase.
"My nan got me into racing, she was a bookies runner back in the day," Redknapp told ITV Racing.
"She'd get locked up in Poplar Police Station in the East End of London, because it was illegal in those days. I love the horses, I love the Festival, I love the people. It means so much."

(RTTNews) - Manchester United (MANU) announced Tuesday a second-quarter net income of 20.4 million British pounds or 12.49 pence per basic share, sharply higher than 6.3 million pounds or 3.87 pence per basic share in the prior-year quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted earnings per basic share for the quarter was 11.83 pence, compared to adjusted loss per basic share of 6.18 pence in the year-ago quarter.
Total revenues for the quarter grew 34.9 percent to 225.8 pounds from 167.3 pounds in the same quarter last year.
Broadcasting revenue surged 81.0 percent to 106.4 million pounds and matchday revenue increased 59.2 percent to 47.6 million pounds, while commercial revenue declined 8.8 percent to 71.8 million pounds from last year.
Looking ahead to fiscal 2024, the company reiterates its previous revenue guidance of 635 million pounds to 665 million pounds and its previous adjusted EBITDA guidance of 125 million pounds to 150 million pounds.

Manchester United Q2 Profit Soars; Reiterates FY24 Revenue Outlook

March 12 (Reuters) - Manchester United MANU.N is looking to new co-owner Jim Ratcliffe to help "deliver success on the pitch", it said on Tuesday, after broadcasting revenue from the lucrative UEFA Champions League boosted the club's second-quarter profit.
The Premier League club, which was knocked out of Europe's top tier competition late in the quarter, reported net income of 20.4 million pounds ($26.10 million) for the three months ended Dec. 31, compared with 6.3 million pounds a year earlier.
"This is an exciting time at Manchester United following the completion of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment, and we are all focused on working together with our new co-owners to drive the club forward and deliver success on the pitch," finance chief Cliff Baty said in a statement.
Ratcliffe struck a long-awaited deal in December to buy a 25% stake in the club and take charge of their soccer operations to try to revive its fortunes on the pitch.
United, currently sixth on the Premier League table, cut its annual profit and revenue forecast in January, weeks after it was knocked out of the Champions League.
It kept that forecast unchanged on Tuesday.
Revenue at the club rose 35% to nearly 226 million pounds in the quarter.

Asian stocks resumed their recent upward drift on Tuesday, reaching seven month highs even as many traders awaited U.S. inflation due later in the day.
But in European hours it will be UK wage data at centre stage, keeping investors in Britain's pound on guard.
The pound GBP=D3 was hovering not far from the seven month high it touched on Friday, with investors beefing up their bullish positions in the currency. Sterling is up 0.7% for the year.
For the past few months investors have been drawn to the pound's higher yield, boosted by expectations that persistent inflation will compel the Bank of England to keep interest rates higher for longer despite a sluggish economy.

Markets are pricing in August as the starting point for rate cuts from the BOE, while the European Central Bank and the U.S. Federal Reserve are expected to move in June.
Data on Tuesday is expected to show that British pay excluding bonuses grew 6.2% in the three months to January, unchanged from December. Any surprise might lead markets to rethink their BoE bets.
European bourses are due for a strong open, futures indicated, with the pan-European STOXX 600 .STOXX just shy of the record peak it touched last week.
Among macroeconomic indicators, the spotlight will be firmly on the U.S. inflation report due later in the day, with expectations for a monthly increase of 0.4%, and 3.1% on an annual basis. Core inflation is seen rising 0.3%, which would push the annual pace down to 3.7%.
The currency market was largely muted in Asian hours except for the yen JPY=EBS, which has perked up in the past week over mounting speculation that the Bank of Japan may just about be ready to exit its negative interest rate policy.
The yen on Tuesday was on the back foot, though, after BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda said the economy was recovering but also showing some signs of weakness.
Germany's inflation data for February is the only other major economic event. Also in focus will be quarterly earnings from Manchester United MANU.N, where the spotlight will be on what comes next after British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe struck a deal to buy a 25% stake in the club to try to revive its fortunes.
