There is also a key difference between the ABR and Zacks Rank when it comes to freshness. When you look at the ABR, it may not be up-to-date. Nonetheless, since brokerage analysts constantly revise their earnings estimates to reflect changing business trends, and their actions get reflected in the Zacks Rank quickly enough, it is always timely in predicting future stock prices.

A company must increase its dividend annually for 50 consecutive years to be considered a Dividend King. A record like that can't be built by accident; it requires a strong business model that gets executed well in both good times and bad. Simply put, Target, Lowe's, and Federal Realty have proven that they can survive over the long term.
They will all go through difficult times, noting that Target is in the middle of a business overhaul right now. However, if history is any guide, these three retail-focused businesses will continue to reward investors with reliable dividends backed by growing businesses.
Target is a work in progress
Target is likely the most aggressive option on the list. It has a historically high dividend yield of 3.8%. Despite a recent stock rally, the shares are down more than 50% from their 2021 highs. If you have a value bias, this retailer will likely be of interest to you.
The key is that Target is generally focused on offering a more upscale retail shopping experience than its key rival, Walmart (NASDAQ: WMT). Home improvement retailer Lowe's is a Dividend King. Key revival Home Depot (NYSE: HD) is not. Lowe's price-to-earnings ratio is 19x, and its price-to-sales ratio is 1.5x. Home Depot's P/E is 22x, and its P/S ratio is 1.9x. So, all in, Lowe's has a more impressive dividend history, and it looks more attractively valued.
To be fair, home improvement stores could be in for a rough ride if the U.S. economy falls into a recession. However, Lowe's has proven it can survive such downturns while continuing to reward investors well for sticking around. If you think in decades and like attractively valued stocks, Lowe's and its roughly 2% yield will probably be a good fit for your portfolio.
Federal Realty is the only Dividend King REIT
Federal Realty switches things up a little bit because it is a retail landlord, with a portfolio of roughly 100 well-located strip malls and mixed-use properties. It is the only REIT that has managed to achieve Dividend King status, proving its quality over quantity approach is a success.
That said, the real key to Federal Realty's success is its highly active portfolio management. It is always redeveloping assets to keep them desirable for tenants and customers. And it will sell assets once they have reached full valuation, replacing them with new properties that need some tender loving care. If you don't mind owning a REIT that takes a sharp-shooter approach, Federal Realty's attractive 4.3% dividend yield could be a great fit for your income portfolio.

It has been about a month since the last earnings report for Lowe's (LOW). Shares have lost about 10.7% in that time frame, underperforming the S&P 500.

The Mooresville, NC-based home improvement retailer posted another quarter of positive comparable sales, supported by continued strength in Pro, online and home services, along with solid holiday demand.
Management highlighted that its Total Home strategy continues to resonate with both Pro and DIY customers, even as the broader housing backdrop remains pressured. The company also introduced its fiscal 2026 outlook, signaling confidence in its ability to gain market share through productivity initiatives and strategic investments.
LOW’s Quarterly Performance: Key Metrics & Insights
Lowe’s posted adjusted earnings of $1.98 per share, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.95 and increased 2.6% from the prior-year adjusted earnings of $1.93. On a reported basis, including $149 million in pre-tax expenses related to the acquisitions of Foundation Building Materials and Artisan Design Group, earnings were $1.78 per share compared with $1.99 in the prior-year period.
Net sales reached $20,584 million, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $20,365 million and marking a significant increase from $18,553 million reported in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024. This growth was underpinned by a 1.3% rise in comparable sales.
LOW’s Margin & Cost Details
The gross margin for the quarter was 32.5%, a contraction of 40 basis points from 32.9% in the year-ago period. Adjusted gross margin came in at 32.7%.
SG&A expenses rose to 21.4% of sales, up from 20.6% last year, reflecting the impact of acquisition-related costs and associate bonuses. Adjusted SG&A expenses, as a percentage of sales, came in at 21.4%.
As a result, operating income for the quarter was $1,708 million, down from $1,830 million in the prior-year quarter. The operating margin settled at 8.3% compared with 9.9% in the fourth quarter of 2024. LOW reported an adjusted operating margin of 9%.
LOW’s Financial Health Snapshot
The company ended the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $982 million, long-term debt (excluding current maturities) of $37,490 million and a shareholders’ deficit of $9,917 million.
For fiscal 2025, net cash provided by operating activities totaled $9,864 million, up from $9,625 million in fiscal 2024. During the fourth quarter, the company paid $673 million in dividends, bringing the total returned to shareholders through dividends for the fiscal year to $2.6 billion. As of Jan. 30, 2026, Lowe's operated 1,759 stores with approximately 196 million square feet of retail selling space.

Lowe’s anticipates fiscal 2026 total sales between $92 billion and $94 billion, representing an increase of 7% to 9%. Comparable sales are expected to range from flat to up 2%. The company projects an adjusted operating margin of 11.6% to 11.8%, excluding roughly 40 basis points related to intangible asset amortization.
Management foresees adjusted earnings in the band of $12.25-$12.75 per share. Net interest expense is forecasted at approximately $1.6 billion, with capital expenditures projected to be roughly 2.5 billion.

Notable ETF Inflow Detected - XLY, LOW, SBUX, ORLY

The Home Depot, Inc. HD, through its subsidiary SRS Distribution Inc., entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Mingledorff's, Inc., a well-established wholesale distributor of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, parts and supplies. Mingledorff’s operates a network of 42 locations across five southeastern U.S. states and serves both residential and commercial customer segments.
This acquisition represents a strategic step forward for Home Depot as it continues to enhance its value proposition for Pro customers. SRS has already developed a strong position in specialty trade distribution, with exposure to roofing, interior and construction materials, landscaping products and pool supplies. By bringing Mingledorff’s into the portfolio, the company is entering HVAC distribution as a new vertical, significantly expanding its capabilities and service offerings.
Mingledorff’s contributes a robust distribution infrastructure, a broad and diversified product portfolio and long-standing customer relationships. These attributes are highly complementary to SRS’ existing platform. They are expected to strengthen the combined entity’s ability to capture greater market share within the fragmented building materials distribution industry. HVAC distribution alone is estimated to represent a $100 billion addressable market. This addition meaningfully expands the total addressable market for Home Depot to approximately $1.2 trillion.
Home Depot identified SRS as a critical growth engine and noted that the acquisition will support greater innovation and deeper engagement with its Pro customer base. SRS emphasized that the addition of HVAC distribution enhances its ability to provide a comprehensive, single-source solution across multiple product categories. Following the completion of the transaction, Mingledorff’s will continue to operate under its current leadership team within the SRS organization. The deal is expected to be closed in the second quarter of fiscal 2026.

Lowe's Companies, Inc. LOW in the fourth quarter of 2025, reported quarterly total sales of $20.6 billion, an increase from $18.6 billion in the prior-year quarter. Comparable sales for Lowe’s rose 1.3%, driven by continued growth across Pro, online and home services segments, along with strong holiday performance, reflecting steady demand and operational momentum.
Floor & Decor Holdings, Inc. FND reported fourth-quarter 2025 net sales of $1,129.7 million, reflecting a 2% increase from $1,107.4 million in the same period of fiscal 2024. However, Floor & Decor’s comparable store sales declined 4.8%, reflecting pressure from softness in existing home sales activity and a shift toward smaller flooring projects, indicating mixed performance during the quarter.

HD is expanding its Pro digital experience to help professional renovators, remodelers and builders manage projects, materials and business operations through a single integrated platform. The upgrade, available to Pro Xtra loyalty members, is designed to reduce inefficiencies caused by disconnected tools and improve overall productivity for contractors working across multiple job sites.
The enhanced workspace is built to support the full project lifecycle by offering centralized visibility and control. It includes a Project Planning feature that allows users to organize jobs with customized delivery preferences, pricing and real-time inventory access across a wide product assortment available in stores and fulfillment centers. This helps contractors plan more effectively and streamline procurement.
An AI-powered Material List Builder is integrated into the platform, enabling contractors to quickly convert project requirements into detailed material lists. This feature helps save time, reduce manual efforts and accelerate the bidding process, making it easier for professionals to respond to project opportunities.
The platform also introduces real-time delivery tracking for large and bulky materials, such as lumber, drywall and concrete, providing continuous updates on shipment status, routes and estimated arrival times. The Lennox board of directors approved a quarterly cash dividend of $1.30 per share of common stock, payable April 15, 2026, to stockholders of record as of March 31, 2026.

Priced at $99 per year, HomeCare+ includes two in-home visits annually, with customers able to select up to seven essential services per visit.
