It operates various active pre-clinical programs. The company has a commercial license and collaboration agreement with Seagen Inc. to co-develop tisotumab vedotin. It also has a collaboration agreement with argenx to discover, develop, and commercialize novel therapeutic antibodies with applications in immunology and oncology; and AbbVie for the development of epcoritamab, as well as collaborations with BioNTech, Janssen, and Novo Nordisk A/S. Iovance Biotherapeutics IOVA incurred a second-quarter 2025 loss of 33 cents per share, wider than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of 29 cents. In the year-ago quarter, the company reported a loss of 34 cents per share.
Quarterly revenues rose 93% year over year to $60.0 million, entirely from the sales of its two marketed drugs. Yet, this figure also missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $66.4 million.

Iovance reiterated its product revenue guidance for the full year, driven by strong demand for both of its marketed products. It expects this metric to be between $250 million and $300 million.
Alongside the earnings results, Iovance also announced that it is initiating a strategic restructuring plan to save more than $100 million annually in costs starting in 2025. To achieve this target, the company has decided to lay off nearly 19% of its workforce before the end of next month, as well as optimize and refine its cost structure over the next two to three quarters.
Based on the above plan, Iovance expects net cash burn for the next four quarters through the second quarter of 2026 to be less than $245 million. The savings in costs are expected to extend the existing cash runway into the fourth quarter of 2026.
Iovance expects significant growth in total product revenues for 2026 and beyond. It expects gross margins to increase through near-term optimization of manufacturing capacity utilization over the next several years.
Updates on IOVA’s Pipeline & Other News
Regulatory applications for Amtagvi in the melanoma indication are currently under review in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, with potential approvals expected throughout this year and early next year. However, the company announced that it had voluntarily withdrawn the regulatory filing for the therapy in the European Union recently due to a lack of alignment with the EMA on clinical data supporting the submission.
Shares of Iovance plummeted nearly 29% in after-market trading yesterday, likely due to this development. Though the company stated that it is currently developing a new strategy for seeking the therapy’s EU approval, it delayed the initial plans of securing a potential approval before this year’s end. This downward trajectory also continued in pre-market today.
Year to date, the stock has plunged 64% compared with the industry’s 1% decline.

Iovance is evaluating Amtagvi, combined with Merck’s PD-L1 inhibitor, Keytruda, in the phase III TILVANCE-301 study as a potential treatment for frontline advanced melanoma. This study will also serve as a confirmatory study seeking full approval for Amtagvi in the melanoma indication.
The company remains on track to share an update from the phase II IOV-LUN-202 study, evaluating Amtagvi in post-anti-PD-1 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), before this year’s end. If results from the study are positive, Iovance expects to secure label expansion for the drug from the FDA in the given indication in 2027. Tenet Healthcare Corporation THC reported second-quarter 2025 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $4.02, which surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 41.6%. The bottom line soared 74% year over year.
Net operating revenues advanced 3.2% year over year to $5.3 billion. The top line beat the consensus mark by 2.4%.
The company’s quarterly results were aided by higher same facility revenues, favorable payer mix and improved acuity, which led to strong performance of the Hospital Operations and Services segment. Ambulatory Care: The segment’s net operating revenues rose 11.3% year over year to $1.3 billion in the quarter under review on the back of improved net revenue per case growth, facility buyouts and expansion of service lines. Tenet Beats Q2 Earnings on Strong Patient Volumes, Hikes '25 EPS View

(RTTNews) - Genmab A/S (GMAB) announced that it will vigorously defend itself against allegations of trade secret misappropriation brought by AbbVie Inc. (ABBV).
AbbVie has filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington based in Seattle. The complaint names Genmab A/S, ProfoundBio US Co., ProfoundBio (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., and former employees of AbbVie as defendants. The allegations center on claims that the defendants misappropriated AbbVie's trade secrets involving the use of disaccharides to enhance the hydrophilicity of drug-linkers in antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). These claims are related to rinatabart sesutecan (Rina-S) and other ADC pipeline products developed by ProfoundBio, which was acquired by Genmab in May 2024.
AbbVie is seeking damages and broad injunctive reliefs. AbbVie's alleged trade secrets are related to the use of disaccharides to improve the hydrophilicity of drug-linkers in ADCs. AbbVie is not asserting or enforcing any patent rights against the defendants, and to Genmab's knowledge, AbbVie has not pursued any development of products incorporating their alleged trade secrets.

Genmab To Vigorously Defend Against AbbVie's Trade Secret Misappropriation Claims

(RTTNews) - Genmab A/S (GMAB) Monday announced that Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) has decided not to exercise its option to develop and commercialize HexaBody-CD38 for multiple myeloma, for a worldwide license.
Shares of Genmab are falling 7.29 percent at 22.39 on Nasdaq.
The biotechnology company notd that the initial HexaBody-CD38 clinical data was promising and showed robust clinical efficacy. Following a thorough evaluation, and rigorous portfolio prioritization, Genmab will not be pursuing further clinical development of HexaBody-CD38.
Genmab said that it is "disappointed that J&J has decided not to advance HexaBody-CD38."
As per the development and option agreement Genmab has provided Johnson and Johnson with data from a clinical proof-of-concept study in multiple myeloma, including a head-to-head comparison with Darzalex faspro.
According Genmab, preliminary data submitted to J&J has demonstrated an overall response rate of 55 percent in the HexaBoby-CD38 IV arm vs. 52 percent in the daratumumab SC arm.
Further, Genmab said, due to the relatively short follow-up time, secondary efficacy endpoints including duration of response, progression-free survival, and overall survival were not mature yet. The study showed treatment emergent Adverse events above 20% in the Hexabody-CD38 arm. Adverse events leading to death included one patient in the HexaBody-CD38 IV arm and two patients in the daratumumab SC arm.

Genmab Reveals J&J's Decision Not To Advance Hexabody-CD38, Shares Fall

Looking at the underlying holdings of the ETFs in our coverage universe at ETF Channel, we have compared the trading price of each holding against the average analyst 12-month forward target price, and computed the weighted average implied analyst target price for the ETF itself. For the First Trust NYSE Arca Biotechnology Index Fund ETF (Symbol: FBT), we found that the implied analyst target price for the ETF based upon its underlying holdings is $214.53 per unit.

Add Up The Parts: FBT Could Be Worth $215

(RTTNews) - Genmab A/S (GMAB) announced new results from the Phase 1b/2 EPCORE NHL-2 trial evaluating fixed-duration epcoritamab, a T-cell engaging bispecific antibody administered subcutaneously, plus lenalidomide + rituximab (R2) in adult patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) follicular lymphoma (FL).
The results demonstrated an overall response rate (ORR) of 96 percent and a complete response (CR) rate of 87 percent among 111 patients after a median follow-up of two years. Additionally, the study showed an estimated 21-month progression-free survival (PFS) rate of 80 percent and a two-year overall survival (OS) rate of 90 percent.
Additional data from the study showed an estimated 89 percent of complete responders to the combination therapy remained in CR at 18 months.
With the majority of patients being enrolled and treated during the global COVID-19 pandemic, COVID-19 was reported in 57 percent of patients and led to epcoritamab discontinuation in 13 percent of patients. Five cases of COVID-19 led to fatal treatment-emergent adverse events. The other most common treatment-emergent adverse events were neutropenia (62 percent) and cytokine release syndrome (CRS; 51 percent).
Cytokine release syndrome events with the 2-step step-up dose regimen were mostly low grade (38 percent Grade 1, 12 percent Grade 2, 2 percent Grade 3) and primarily occurred following the first full dose. All cytokine release syndrome cases resolved. One case of immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS) was reported (Grade 1). The cytokine release syndrome and ICANS cases did not lead to treatment discontinuation.

Genmab : Epcoritamab Combo Shows High Response Rates In 1b/2 Trial For R/R Follicular Lymphoma

Last week, AbbVie ABBV announced that a pivotal phase III study evaluating pipeline candidate tavapadon for treating early Parkinson's disease met the primary endpoint. The candidate was added to AbbVie’s pipeline with the August 2024 acquisition of Cerevel Therapeutics, a neuroscience drugmaker, for around $8.7 billion.
ABBV’s Positive Parkinson’s Study Data
In the TEMPO-1 study, patients who received two fixed doses (5mg and 15mg) of once-daily tavapadon, a D1/D5 dopamine receptor partial agonist, for 26 weeks achieved statistically significant improvement in the Movement Disorder Society - Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) Parts II and III combined score. MDS-UPDRS is a scale used to evaluate various aspects of Parkinson's disease including non-motor and motor experiences of daily living and motor complications. The study also met a key secondary endpoint by demonstrating statistically significant improvement in experiences of daily living as measured by MDS-UPDRS Part II at week 26.
Another phase III study (adjunctive) on tavapadon, called TEMPO-3, met its primary endpoint. Top-line data from another phase III study, TEMPO-2, which is evaluating flexible doses of tavapadon, is expected by the end of the year.
The positive Parkinson’s study data comes as a breather for AbbVie after its other Parkinson’s candidate, ABBV-951, hit a roadblock, having faced FDA’s rejection twice. However, results from the remaining two studies will help determine tavapadon’s commercial opportunity.
Like tavapadon, AbbVie has several promising R&D programs in its pipeline with the potential to drive long-term growth. These include next-generation approaches in immunology, a focus on bispecifics, antibody-drug conjugates or ADCs as well as innovative therapies for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. Other than a strong pipeline, AbbVie also boasts some successful new medicines. However, it faces headwinds like biosimilar erosion of blockbuster immunology drug Humira, declining sales of Imbruvica and slowing sales of some aesthetic products.
Let us discuss these factors in detail to better analyze how to play the stock.
ABBV’s Successful New Drugs Skyrizi and Rinvoq
AbbVie lost patent protection for Humira in the United States in January 2023 and in the EU in 2018. Sales of Humira are declining due to loss of exclusivity and biosimilar erosion. However, AbbVie has successfully navigated Humira's loss of exclusivity by launching two other successful new immunology medicines, Skyrizi and Rinvoq, which are performing extremely well, bolstered by approvals in new indications. Both these medicines are likely to support top-line growth in the next few years. AbbVie expects the combined sales (risk-adjusted) of Skyrizi and Rinvoq to be more than $27 billion by 2027. These drugs have the potential to replace Humira.
In the popular inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) space, which includes two conditions, ulcerative colitis (“UC”) and Crohn’s disease (”CD”), Rinvoq's uptake continues to be very strong in both indications. Skyrizi is seeing tremendous performance in CD and expects rapid access for the UC indication, for which approval was received in the United States in June and in the EU in July. AbbVie expects Skyrizi and Rinvoq to double their respective sales in IBD indications in 2024.
Meanwhile, new migraine drugs, Ubrelvy and Qulipta/Aquipta, represent a combined $3 billion-plus peak sales opportunity.
Boosted by its new product launches, AbbVie expects to return to robust revenue growth in 2025 with a high single-digit CAGR through the end of the decade.
ABBV Boasts an Attractive Pipeline
AbbVie has several early/mid-stage pipeline candidates that have blockbuster potential. The company expects several regulatory submissions and approvals and key data readouts in the next 12 months.
For blood cancers and solid tumors, AbbVie has an exciting and diverse pipeline of promising new therapies like ABBV-383, a BCMA CD3 bispecific, in late-stage development for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma and Teliso-V, a promising c-Met ADC, which has been developed for nonsquamous non-small cell lung cancer. AbbVie filed a biologics license application to the FDA for Teliso-V last week.
AbbVie and partner Genmab’s GMAB Epkinly/Tepkinly (formerly epcoritamab) was approved for relapsed or refractory (r/r) third-line diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in the United States and EU in 2023 and for third-line r/r follicular lymphoma in the United States in June 2024 and in EU in August.
AbbVie on an Acquisition Spree This Year
AbbVie has been on an acquisition spree lately, which is strengthening its pipeline. It has signed several M&A deals in the immunology space, its core area, while also signing some early-stage deals in oncology and neuroscience areas.
In 2024, it acquired smaller biotechs like Landos Biopharma and Celsius Therapeutics, which are making novel drugs for treating IBD. It also signed a license agreement with China’s FutureGen to develop a next-generation anti-TL1A antibody for IBD. Among the larger deals, AbbVie acquired ImmunoGen, which added antibody-drug conjugate Elahere, and Cerevel Therapeutics in 2024.
ABBV Stock Price Increase & Attractive Valuation
AbbVie stock has gained 27.5% so far this year compared withan increase of 20.2% for the industry. The stock has also outperformed the sector and the S&P 500 index, as seen in the chart below.

The stock has also been consistently trading above its 50-day and 200-day moving averages since early July.
From a valuation standpoint, AbbVie appears attractive relative to the industry. Going by the price/earnings ratio, the company’s shares currently trade at 16.70 forward earnings, lower than 19.04 for the industry. The stock is cheaper than some other large drugmakers like Eli Lilly LLY and Novo Nordisk NVO.

AbbVie faces its share of headwinds like Humira biosimilar erosion, increasing competitive pressure on cancer drug Imbruvica and slow market growth trends for fillers in the United States and China. However, AbbVie has faced its biggest challenge — Humira’s patent cliff — quite well and looks set to return to robust growth next year. Strong sales performance of drugs like Rinvoq, Skyrizi, Venclexta and Vraylar, coupled with significant contributions from newer drugs Ubrelvy, Elahere, Epkinly and Qulipta, should keep driving the company’s top line.
AbbVie expects its ex-Humira growth drugs, which cover more than 80% of its total sales, to outperform its initial expectations, driven by strong performance in immunology and oncology. It expects its ex-Humira growth platform to deliver nearly $6 billion of sales growth in 2024. Importantly, the erosion in Humira sales in the United States has been lower than management’s expectations. The stock has an attractive dividend yield of around 3.2%.

Should You Buy AbbVie Stock After Recent Parkinson's Study Success?

(RTTNews) - AbbVie (ABBV) announced that the European Commission has granted conditional marketing authorization for Tepkinly (epcoritamab) as a monotherapy for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) follicular lymphoma (FL) after two or more lines of prior therapy.
According to the company, Tepkinly is the first and only subcutaneous T-cell engaging bispecific antibody approved to treat both relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma and relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in the European Union (EU), as well as the European Economic Area (EEA) countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and Northern Ireland.
Epcoritamab, approved under the brand name Epkinly in the United States and Tepkinly in the European Union, has received regulatory approval for certain lymphoma indications in several countries.
Epcoritamab is being co-developed by AbbVie and Genmab as part of the companies' oncology collaboration. The companies will share commercial responsibilities in the U.S. and Japan, with AbbVie responsible for further global commercialization. Both companies will pursue additional international regulatory approvals for the R/R FL indication and the R/R DLBCL indication.
AbbVie will continue to pursue regulatory submissions for epcoritamab across international markets. Both Genmab and AbbVie continue to evaluate the use of epcoritamab as a monotherapy and in combination across lines of therapy in a range of hematologic malignancies.
