Chevron Corporation, through its subsidiaries, engages in the integrated energy and chemicals operations in the United States and internationally. The company operates in two segments, Upstream and Downstream. The Upstream segment is involved in the exploration, development, production, and transportation of crude oil and natural gas; processing, liquefaction, transportation, and regasification of liquefied natural gas; transportation of crude oil through pipelines; transportation, storage, and marketing of natural gas; and carbon capture and storage, as well as a gas-to-liquids plant. The Downstream segment refines crude oil into petroleum products; markets crude oil, refined products, and lubricants; manufactures and markets renewable fuels, commodity petrochemicals, plastics for industrial uses, and fuel and lubricant additives; and transports crude oil and refined products by pipeline, marine vessel, motor equipment, and rail car. The company was formerly known as ChevronTexaco Corporation and changed its name to Chevron Corporation in 2005. Chevron Corporation was founded in 1879 and is headquartered in San Ramon, California.

Stock indexes settled mixed on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrials falling to a 1.5-week low. Soaring crude oil prices boosted inflation expectations and bond yields, and were negative for stocks. WTI crude oil surged to a 3-week high on Wednesday after the US signaled it will maintain its naval blockade of Iran for the foreseeable future. The Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump told his aides to prepare for an extended blockade and that it carries less of a risk for the US than resuming hostilities or walking away from the conflict without securing a deal that curbs Iran’s nuclear activities.

The broader market came under pressure on Wednesday after three FOMC members dissented in favor of no easing bias in the FOMC ‘s decision to keep policy unchanged. Also, hawkish comments from Fed Chair Powell weighed on stocks, as he said a bit of monetary policy restraint is the right place to be. The 10-year T-note yield rose +6 bp to a 1-month high of 4.41%.
The Nasdaq 100 moved higher on Wednesday as technology stocks rallied on signs that demand for AI infrastructure remains strong. NXP Semiconductors NV rose +25%, and Seagate Technology Holdings Plc rose by more than +10% to lead chipmakers and AI infrastructure stocks higher after reporting stronger-than-expected earnings results. The markets are awaiting earnings from four of the Magnificent Seven technology stocks after Wednesday’s close, as Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta Platforms will report quarterly results.
Wednesday’s US housing starts and core capital goods new orders reports were better than expected, a supportive factor for stocks.
US MBA mortgage applications fell -1.6% in the week ended April 24, with the purchase mortgage sub-index up +1.2% and the refinancing sub-index down -4.4%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose by +2 bp to 6.37% from 6.35% in the prior week.
US Mar housing starts unexpectedly rose +10.8% m/m to a 15-month high of 1.502 million, stronger than expectations of a decline to 1.380 million. Mar building permits, a proxy for future construction, fell -10.8% m/m to a 7-month low of 1.372 million, weaker than expectations of 1.390 million.
US Mar capital goods new orders nondefense ex-aircraft and parts, a proxy for capital spending, rose +3.3% m/m, stronger than expectations of +0.5% m/m and the largest increase in 5.75 years.
WTI crude oil prices (CLM26) soared by more than +6% on Wednesday as the US and Iran are locked in a battle for control of the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides blocking the waterway to gain leverage during an extended ceasefire. The Strait of Hormuz remains essentially closed, threatening to deepen the global energy crisis, as flows of crude, natural gas, and oil products from the Persian Gulf have been cut off since the war began in late February. Crude prices raced to their highs on Wednesday after President Trump told Axios that he will not lift a naval blockade of Iran's ports until he secures a deal with Iran to address the country's nuclear program. The ongoing blockade could exacerbate global oil and fuel shortages, as about a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas transits through the strait. Goldman Sachs estimates that crude output in the Persian Gulf has been curtailed by about 14.5 million bpd, or more than 50%, so far in April, and that the current disruption has drawn down nearly 500 million bbl from global crude stockpiles, which could hit a billion bbl by June.
As expected, the FOMC kept the fed funds target rate unchanged at 3.50% to 3.75%. The vote was 8-4 in favor of the decision, with Fed Governor Miran dissenting in favor of a -25 bp rate cut. Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari, and Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan said they "supported maintaining the target range for the federal funds rate but did not support inclusion of an easing bias in the statement at this time."
The post-meeting statement said, "Developments in the Middle East are contributing to a high level of uncertainty." Also, "job gains have remained low, on average," and the jobless rate "has been little changed in recent months, while inflation "is elevated, in part reflecting the recent increase in global energy prices."
Fed Chair Powell said policymakers think the policy stance is in a very good place to wait, as inflation is kind of misbehaving, and that maybe a little bit of restriction in monetary policy is the right place to be.
Kevin Warsh won the banking confirmation vote of the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday, putting him on track to be confirmed as Fed Chair by the full Senate before Jerome Powell’s term ends on May 15. Fed Chair Powell said after Wednesday’s FOMC meeting that he will continue to serve as Fed Governor “for a period of time to be determined.” Mr. Powell’s seat on the Board of Governors doesn’t expire until 2028.
The markets are discounting a 0% chance for a +25 bp FOMC rate cut or a rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
Earnings season ramps up this week with several Magnificent Seven technology stocks reporting. Earnings results thus far have been supportive of stocks. As of Wednesday, 81% of the 220 S&P 500 companies that reported Q1 earnings have beaten estimates. Q1 S&P 500 earnings are projected to climb +12% y/y, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Stripping out the technology sector, Q1 earnings are projected to increase around +3%, the weakest in two years.
Overseas stock markets settled mixed on Wednesday. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell to a 3-week low and closed down -0.34%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +0.71%. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average did not trade, as markets in Japan were closed for the Showa Day holiday.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) on Wednesday closed down -16 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield rose +5.5 bp to 4.4010%. Jun T-notes fell to a 4-week low, and the 10-year T-note yield rose to a 1-month high of 4.430%. T-notes were under pressure on Thursday amid rising crude oil prices, as WTI surged more than +6% to a 32-week high, boosting inflation expectations. The 10-year breakeven inflation rate rose to 1 14.5-month high of 2.479% on Wednesday. T-notes were also pressured by stronger-than-expected US economic reports on Mar housing starts and Mar core capital goods new orders.
T-notes sank to their lows on Wednesday afternoon after three FOMC members dissented in favor of a no-easing bias in the committee’s policy decision. Also, Fed Chair Powell said a little bit of restriction in monetary policy is the right place to be.
European government bond yields moved higher on Wednesday. The 10-year German bund yield rose to a 1-month high of 3.118% and finished up +4.3 bp to 3.110%. The 10-year UK gilt yield climbed to a 1-month high of 5.078% and finished up +6.5 bp to 5.071%.
Eurozone Apr economic confidence fell -3.2 to a nearly 5.5-year low of 93.0, weaker than expectations of 95.1.
Eurozone Mar M3 money supply rose +3.2% y/y, stronger than expectations of +3.1% y/y.
Swaps are discounting a 12% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on Thursday.
US Stock Movers
NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI) closed up more than +25% to lead chipmakers and AI infrastructure stocks higher after forecasting Q2 revenue of $3.35 billion to $3.55 billion, stronger than the consensus of $3.27 billion. Intel (INTC) closed up more than +12%, and Seagate Technology Holdings Plc (STX) closed up +11% after forecasting Q4 adjusted EPS of $4.80 to $5.20, well above the consensus of $3.96. Also, Sandisk (SNDK) and Microchip Technology (MCHP) closed up more than +6%, and Western Digital (WDC) closed up more than +5%. In addition, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Qualcomm (QCOM) closed up more than +4%, and Micron Technology (MU) and Marvell Technology (MRVL) closed up more than +2%.
Energy producers and service providers rallied on Wednesday after WTI crude oil rose more than +6% to a 3-week high. Phillips 66 (PSX) closed up more than +5%, and APA Corp (APA) and Valero Energy (VLO) closed up more than +4%. Also, Marathon Petroleum (MPC), Occidental Petroleum (OXY), Devon Energy (DVN), and ConocoPhillips (COP) closed up more than +3%, and Diamondback Energy (FANG), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Halliburton (HAL), and Chevron (CVX) closed up more than +2%.
Airlines and cruise line operators were under pressure on Wednesday as WTI crude oil rose more than +6% to a 2-week high. Alaska Air Group (ALK) closed down more than -3%, and American Airlines Group (AAL), Southwest Airlines (LUV), and Carnival (CCL) closed down more than -2%. Also, United Airlines Holdings (UAL) andDelta Air Lines (DAL) closed down more than -1%.
Bloom Energy (BE) closed up more than +27% after boosting its full-year revenue forecast to $3.4 billion to $3.8 billion from a prior forecast of $3.1 billion to $3.3 billion, above the consensus of $3.25 billion.
Generac Holdings (GNRC) closed up more than +16% after reporting Q1 net sales of $1.06 billion, better than the consensus of $1.05 billion.
Rush Street Interactive (RSI) closed up more than +16% after forecasting full-year revenue between $1.49 billion and $1.54 billion, better than the consensus of $1.38 billion.
Visa (V) closed up more than +8% to lead gainers in the Dow Jones Industrials after reporting Q2 net revenue of $11.23 billion, stronger than the consensus of $10.74 billion.
Starbucks (SBUX) closed up more than +8% after reporting Q2 comparable sales were up +6.20%, well above the consensus of +3.65%, and raised its full-year comparable sales forecast to at least +5% from a prior view of at least +3%.
General Dynamics (GD) closed up more than +7% after reporting Q1 revenue of $13.48 billion, well above the consensus of $12.70 billion.
Teradyne (TER) closed down more than -19% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after forecasting Q2 revenue of $1.15 billion to $1.25 billion, failing to exceed the consensus of $1.20 billion meaningfully.
GE Healthcare (GEHC) closed down more than -13% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100 after cutting its full-year adjusted EPS forecast to $4.80 to $5.00 from a previous forecast of $4.95 to $5.15, weaker than the consensus of $5.06.
Robinhood Markets (HOOD) closed down more than -13% after reporting Q1 net revenue of $1.07 billion, below the consensus of $1.14 billion.
Brown-Forman (BF.B) closed down more than -10% after JPMorgan Chase downgraded the stock to underweight from neutral with a price target of $23.
CoStar Group (CSGP) closed down more than -5% after forecasting full-year revenue of $3.78 billion to $3.82 billion, the midpoint below the consensus of $3.81 billion.
Ingersoll Rand (IR) closed down more than -4% after forecasting full-year organic revenue to climb 0% to +2%, the midpoint below the consensus of +1.44%.

Stocks Settle Mixed Ahead of Megacap Tech Earnings

In early trading on Wednesday, shares of Visa topped the list of the day's best performing Dow Jones Industrial Average components, trading up 10.0%. Year to date, Visa has lost about 3.0% of its value.
And the worst performing Dow component thus far on the day is Home Depot, trading down 2.1%. Home Depot is lower by about 6.4% looking at the year to date performance.
Two other components making moves today are Sherwin-Williams, trading down 1.7%, and Chevron, trading up 1.0% on the day.

This week is one of the most notable on the stock market's calendar this spring -- we are now deep into earnings season, with more than 900 companies stepping up to the podium to announce their quarterly results.
Among them are some of the biggest and most consequential companies central to critical investing themes. Several earnings reports filed this week could be market-moving.

Here are eight companies reporting earnings that you should be keeping an eye on this week.
Robinhood Markets
Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) is an interesting fintech company that revolutionized investing for many. Through its easy-to-use app, commission-free stock trading, and access to cryptocurrencies and prediction markets, Robinhood has been one of the best fintech stocks in the last year. Shares over the last 12 months are up 70%.
Robinhood reports earnings after the closing bell April 28. While it's likely that a slowdown in cryptocurrency trading -- thanks to a drop in those markets -- will weigh on earnings, investors should also be looking at growth in prediction markets. Robinhood previously disclosed that event contract trading reached 3.4 billion contracts in January alone.
The major AI hyperscalers
April 29 will be a huge day for any investor who is involved in technology and the growth of artificial intelligence. Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL), Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) are all scheduled to post their quarterly earnings.
Three months ago, these four companies rocked the market when they announced plans to spend $700 billion combined this year on AI infrastructure. The spending -- much of it on powerful semiconductors -- raised many questions about whether these companies were investing too much in AI and whether they would be able to realize returns over the next several quarters. The companies are increasing their capital expenditure budgets by more than 60% from 2025.
The major issue is free cash flow -- all four of these Magnificent Seven members have enjoyed strong cash flow over the years, but those numbers have been dropping as they increase AI investment. Look for all four companies to acknowledge how much they've spent on capex over the last three months, how much they expect to spend for the rest of the year, and take note of free cash flow numbers when they post their earnings on April 29.
Also, remember that any slowdown in capex will adversely affect chipmakers such as Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices, and Broadcom.
Apple
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is another Magnificent Seven stock, but its story differs from its peers'. When Apple reports its earnings on April 30, the biggest thing to look at is the Apple 17 series sales numbers from the line that came out last year. Its iPhone sales jumped 23% year over year in the most recent quarter, and investors will want that uptick to continue.
Apple also saw strong sales in China in the last quarter, with revenue of $25.52 billion rising 37% from a year ago. China is a critical market for Apple, but the company also faces more competition from Chinese-made phones.
Also of note is Apple's CEO transition, as longtime chief executive Tim Cook will become chairman of the board in September to make way for incoming CEO John Ternus.
The big oil companies
The Iran war and ongoing difficulties in moving oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz have roiled the oil markets, pushing oil to $100 per barrel -- and there have been times in which it's been much higher. It's against that backdrop that two major oil companies, ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) and Chevron (NYSE: CVX), will report earnings on May 1.
For both companies, the rising price of oil could bring mammoth profits, which is why their stocks have jumped about 25% so far this year. But this is the first earnings report for either company since the Iran war began in late February, so management commentary and the companies' forecasts will be closely watched.

For full-year 2026, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for CVX’s revenues is pegged at $214 billion, implying an improvement of 13.2% year over year. The consensus mark for 2026 earnings per share stands at $13.55, indicating a surge of 85.9%.

Factors Shaping CVX’s Upcoming Q1 Results
Chevron’s ongoing cost restructuring is quietly strengthening its earnings base. The company has already delivered $1.5 billion in structural cost savings in 2025, with a clear roadmap to reach $3-$4 billion by the end of 2026, driven largely by efficiency improvements and technology integration. These savings are not one-off — they are embedded into operations, lowering unit costs and lifting margins. Combined with a leaner operating model and improved supply-chain execution, this creates a stronger free cash flow profile, even in a volatile price environment. This is likely to have had a positive effect on Chevron’s first-quarter earnings and cash flows.
But on a somewhat bearish note, Chevron’s first-quarter performance is likely to have been weighed down by lower volumes and downstream pressures. According to the Zacks Consensus Estimate, production is expected to fall to 3,860 thousand oil-equivalent barrels per day (MBOE/d) from more than 4,000 MBOE/d in fourth-quarter 2025, mainly due to downtime at Tengiz and weaker output in Israel and the Partitioned Zone.
At the same time, downstream earnings face added strain from turnarounds, downtime ($275–$325 million impact) and a legal charge of $350-$400 million. These combined factors could temporarily compress overall earnings despite stronger upstream pricing. Consequently, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the first-quarter downstream segment is currently pegged at a loss of $1.3 billion. In the year-ago period, Chevron had reported a profit of $325 million.
While near-term volumes dip, Chevron’s longer-term trajectory remains intact. Management continues to guide for 7-10% production growth in 2026, supported by ramp-ups in high-margin assets like the Permian, Guyana and the Gulf of America. Major developments, including Tengiz expansion and offshore projects, are expected to add scale progressively through 2026. This growth, paired with higher commodity price sensitivity ($1.6-$2.2 billion upstream uplift in first-quarter 2026), positions the company to expand earnings beyond the current quarter. Consequently, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for CVX’s first-quarter upstream income is pegged at $3.7 billion, implying a 21.2% improvement from the profit achieved in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Updates From Chevron’s Global Peers: ExxonMobil and Shell
Rival ExxonMobil XOM signaled that its first-quarter 2026 earnings may decline despite stronger oil and gas prices driven by Iran war-related supply disruptions. ExxonMobil expects upstream earnings gains from higher prices, but large negative timing effects from hedging — estimated at several billion dollars — will weigh on overall profits. ExxonMobil also faces a 6% drop in production due to the Middle East disruptions. Downstream performance is expected to be significantly impacted by delayed cargo deliveries. Despite these challenges, ExxonMobil indicated that these temporary effects should unwind, with profitability likely improving in the upcoming quarters.

Is Chevron Stock Worth Buying Ahead of Q1 Earnings Release?

Oil prices are moving higher today. Brent, the global oil benchmark, rose more than 2% by mid-morning on Monday to over $100 a barrel amid a continued stalemate in peace talks between the U.S. and Iran. While Iran reportedly submitted a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, it would mean postponing talks about its nuclear program.
If the Strait of Hormuz doesn't normalize by the end of July, Brent will likely end the year over $100 a barrel, according to a new prediction by Goldman Sachs. Here's what fuels that view and what it means for oil stocks.

Modeling the impact
Goldman Sachs initially forecast that Brent oil would end this year at $60 a barrel. However, it now expects oil to be well above that price point, with the final level dependent on when the Strait of Hormuz reopens and full oil flows resume.
The investment bank's current base case is that the oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz will fully recover by the end of June. Under this scenario, regional output would remain about 500,000 barrels of oil per day below the pre-war level due to production shut-ins at oil wells. If this scenario plays out, Brent would likely end the year below $90 a barrel.
However, in a more adverse case, Brent would average just over $100 a barrel by year-end. This scenario assumes that exports from the Gulf don't normalize until the end of July. It also assumes a 500,000-barrel-per-day reduction in production capacity due to shut-in wells. Under this scenario, Brent would likely reach more than $120 a barrel within the next two months and then steadily decline.
Goldman Sachs has also modeled a severely adverse case in which oil flows recover only about 70% of pre-war capacity due to a greater-than-anticipated impact from production shut-ins. Under this scenario, Brent would hit more than $140 a barrel over the next few months before tapering off to around $120 by year-end.
Higher for longer
All of Goldman Sachs' scenarios predict that oil prices will end this year much higher than initially anticipated. Even in the bank's benign scenario (flows fully recover by mid-June with no production hit and more supply support from the U.S. and OPEC), Brent would fall to just under $80 by year-end.
The likelihood of continued elevated oil prices will benefit oil companies, most of which budgeted for much lower oil prices this year. For example, Chevron (NYSE: CVX) completed several major expansion projects last year and closed its acquisition of Hess. Add in cost-savings initiatives, and Chevron can generate an additional $12.5 billion of free cash flow this year at $70 Brent oil. Chevron estimates that every $1 change in Brent will increase its cash flow by $600 million this year. An average Brent price of $90 would boost its earnings by another $12 billion this year. The company will likely return most of this windfall to shareholders by repurchasing shares at the high end of its $10 billion to $20 billion annual target range.
Meanwhile, Occidental Petroleum (NYSE: OXY) initially expected to deliver a more than $1.2 billion improvement in its free cash flow this year, driven by capital and cost savings. Occidental is now on track to deliver an even bigger boost. The company estimates that every $1 change in oil prices will boost its annualized cash flows by $265 million. Occidental could use that extra cash to repay additional debt, opportunistically repurchase shares, increase capital spending to boost production, and accelerate the resumption of repurchasing Berkshire Hathaway's preferred stock investment.
Oil could remain high for the rest of the year
If oil doesn't start flowing through the Strait of Hormuz soon, oil prices will likely end the year above $100 a barrel. That would enable oil companies to generate a lot more cash flow than initially expected this year, which they can use to create more value for shareholders. This increasingly likely scenario suggests investors should consider buying oil stocks to capitalize on higher prices.

Goldman Sachs Predicts $100 Oil Through the End of 2026 if Flows Don't Normalize Soon. Here's What That Means for Oil Stocks.

Eni S.p.A. E on April 20, 2026 announced a significant gas discovery at the Geliga-1 exploration well in the Kutei Basin, offshore Indonesia. Following the announcement, E shares rose 2.83% to $54.11 per share.
The well, which encountered substantial hydrocarbon resources, is located in the Ganal block, around 70 km off the East Kalimantan coast. The discovery is estimated to contain 5 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas and 300 million barrels of condensate.
The Geliga-1 well was drilled to a depth of about 5,100 meters in a water depth of around 2,000 meters. The well hit a substantial gas column in the targeted Miocene interval, which demonstrated strong petrophysical characteristics. A Drill Stem Test is planned to evaluate the reservoir’s productivity.
The discovery highlights the strong resource potential of the Kutei Basin, following the Geng North discovery in 2023 and the Konta-1 discovery in December 2025. This also reinforces Indonesia’s position as an important emerging hub for natural gas and LNG supply.
The discovery aligns with Eni’s broader strategy of focusing on gas as a transition fuel and concentrating on scalable development areas that can accelerate production while lowering costs.
Eni reported multiple recent exploration successes in the same basin, strengthening the commercial viability of the region. The Geliga find is expected to be integrated into existing and planned infrastructure to reduce costs and time, while supporting domestic energy demand and international LNG exports.
The Geliga discovery is situated next to the 2 Tcf Gula field. The combined fields are expected to yield 1 billion standard cubic feet per day of gas and 80,000 barrels per day of condensate. Together, these assets could support a fast-track third hub in the Kutei Basin using the established North Hub concept.
Through its partnership with Petronas, Eni aims to fast-track development and generate additional cash-flow by integrating its technical expertise and resources.
Overall, the discovery is set to unlock significant gas volumes, supporting regional energy security while enhancing Eni’s long-term growth in the global LNG market.

It can fund its capital spending plan and dividend at an average oil price below $50 a barrel through 2030. Meanwhile, it can grow its free cash flow at a more than 10% compound annual rate through 2030 at $70 oil. Chevron has a vast global oil and gas resource base and data-driven exploration capabilities to support its growth in the coming decades.
The energy giant is also using some of its oil-fueled cash flows to invest in lower-carbon energy to prepare its business for the future. It's investing in renewable fuels (biodiesel and renewable natural gas), hydrogen, lithium, and carbon capture and storage. Additionally, Chevron is investing in natural gas power plants to support AI's energy needs.
Chevron will continue supplying the global economy with the oil it desperately needs in the coming decades. It will also play an important role in providing it with more lower-carbon energy in the future. That should give it ample fuel to continue increasing its dividend (3.8% current yield), which it has done for 39 straight years.
Enbridge
Enbridge (NYSE: ENB) is a leading North American energy infrastructure company. It operates the longest and most complex crude oil pipeline system on the continent, transporting 30% of the crude oil produced in North America. Enbridge is also a leader in natural gas, transporting 20% of U.S. gas consumption and operating the largest gas utility franchise in North America. Additionally, Enbridge is a leader in renewable energy investment.
The Canadian pipeline and utility company generates very stable cash flow, as 98% of its earnings come from cost-of-service or contracted assets. Enbridge currently has 39 billion Canadian dollars ($28.5 billion) in expansion projects under construction, which should enter service through the early 2030s. It's pursuing another CA$50 billion ($36.6 billion) in expansion opportunities through 2030. These expansion projects should provide Enbridge with the fuel to grow earnings at a mid-single-digit annual rate, supporting continued dividend increases (current yield of 5.3%). Enbridge has raised its dividend for 31 straight years.
ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) is a global energy giant. Its strategic focus in recent years has been on improving profitability. Exxon's strategy has been to invest heavily in its advantaged resources (the lowest-cost and highest-margin assets) while also reducing structural costs.
The company strategy has it on track to grow its earnings capacity by $25 billion and cash flow by $35 billion by 2030. That's double-digit annualized growth compared to 2024's level. Exxon's strategy would see it generate about $145 billion in cumulative surplus cash by 2030, giving it the funds to repurchase shares and continue increasing its dividend (a 2.8% yield), which it has done for 43 straight years.
Meanwhile, Exxon has plenty of growth beyond 2030. It has extensive oil and gas resources worldwide to support rising energy demand. Additionally, Exxon is investing in several new businesses, including lithium, hydrogen, and specialty products such as its Proxxima thermoset resin systems. These businesses have the potential to reach $13 billion in earnings by 2040 and offer Exxon significant growth potential in the coming decades.

1. Enbridge
Enbridge (NYSE: ENB) is a Calgary, Alberta-based company that owns a massive pipeline network. Its pipelines transport roughly 30% of the crude oil produced in North America and one-fifth of the natural gas consumed in the U.S. In recent years, Enbridge has also invested heavily in renewable energy.
However, Enbridge isn't just an energy stock; it's also a utility stock. The company's acquisitions have catapulted it into the top spot among North American natural gas utilities by volume. Enbridge's natural gas business now serves 7.1 million customers.
The midstream/utility leader recently increased its dividend by 3%. This marked Enbridge's 31st consecutive year of dividend hikes. The company's forward dividend yield of 5.4% is sure to catch the eye of many income investors.
Enbridge's business model is stable and relatively low risk. The company's management team is also trustworthy, achieving financial guidance for an impressive 20 consecutive years. As a bonus, Enbridge has visible growth through the end of the decade, with around $50 billion of opportunities identified over the next four years.
2. Enterprise Products Partners
Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD) is another midstream leader that income investors should like. This master limited partnership (MLP) owns over 50,000 miles of pipeline, more than 300 million barrels of liquids storage, 45 natural gas processing trains, 27 fractionators, and 21 deepwater docks.
Around 55% of Enterprise Products Partners' gross operating margin stems from natural gas liquids (NGLs). The rest of the company's margin is split roughly equally between its crude oil, natural gas, and petrochemical operations.
Enterprise Products Partners ranks among the most dependable passive-income machines in the energy sector, having increased its distribution for 27 consecutive years. It also offers one of the most lucrative distributions, with a yield currently topping 5.8%.
This pipeline stock is as stable as they come. Enterprise Products Partners is the only midstream energy infrastructure company with an A- credit rating (indicating low risk). Around 90% of Enterprise's long-term contracts are inflation-resistant due to escalation provisions. The MLP also has solid growth prospects, driven in part by surging demand for natural gas-fired power plants to supply electricity to data centers.
3. Chevron
Investors seeking passive income don't have to limit themselves to the midstream part of the energy sector. Chevron (NYSE: CVX) is an integrated energy major that ranks as the world's third-largest energy company by market cap.
Chevron's upstream operations have the highest margins in the industry. The company is the global leader in natural gas production. It boasts the largest retail market share. Chevron's U.S. refining net cash margin also leads the industry.
Few energy companies come with a more impressive dividend track record than Chevron. The oil and gas giant has increased its dividend for 39 consecutive years. Its forward dividend yield of 3.8% is well below Chevron's average yield over the last 10 years, though, because its stock has performed so well.
Chevron is built to last, with its roots dating back to 1879. The company is also poised for solid growth. Management expects Chevron's earnings per share to increase by an average of at least 10% per year.
