Time to Cash Out? 4 Stocks I'd Sell Before It's Too Late

BlackBerry BB kicked off fiscal 2027 on a strong note, delivering better-than-expected first-quarter results and raising its fiscal year outlook. The performance was anchored by strong QNX and Secure Communications businesses, but the key question remains whether this momentum can sustain.
Quarterly revenues came in at $152.9 million, marking a 26% year-over-year increase. Profitability was equally impressive, with adjusted EBITDA more than doubling to $36 million.
QNX remained the key catalyst, with revenues climbing 26% year over year to $72 million. The segment benefited from broad-based strength, particularly in development licenses, which hit their highest level in eight quarters. This metric serves as an early indicator of future royalty streams, reflecting customer investments in new software platforms that will take years to reach production.
Beyond automotive, General Embedded Markets and Physical AI are emerging as a fast-growing opportunity, expanding QNX’s reach into industrial automation, robotics and medical devices.
Additionally, the company continues to advance Alloy Kore, a platform expected to significantly increase software content per vehicle, boost average selling price by multiples and driving backlog. While still early, management remains positive about securing a design win within the current fiscal year.
BlackBerry Limited Revenue (Quarterly)
Secure Communications also delivered a standout quarter, with revenues increasing 24% year over year to $74 million. The segment is witnessing improved performance anchored by government demand, recurring revenues and customer retention. Rising demand for digital sovereignty and cybersecurity modernization by governments across the globe is creating a powerful tailwind.
Encouraged by the strong start, BlackBerry now expects total revenues between $594 million and $621 million compared with $584-$611 million projected earlier.
The strong start to fiscal 2027 and subsequent outlook revision reinforces that BlackBerry’s turnaround strategy is gaining traction. However, the path is not without challenges. Secure Communications remains exposed to deal-timing variability and this could impact performance.
In addition, some of BlackBerry’s most exciting opportunities, such as physical AI, robotics and the Alloy Kore platform, remain in the early stages, introducing execution risk. Heavy reliance on the automotive industry is a concern. The QNX platform remains heavily exposed to vehicle production cycles and OEM spending, which, in turn, are highly dependent on macro conditions. BlackBerry faces increasing competitive pressures in both QNX and cybersecurity businesses.
Let’s Take a Look at BB’s Peers
Within the cybersecurity space, BlackBerry competes with several giants, including CrowdStrike CRWD. While BlackBerry’s focus remains on encrypted communications and sovereign-grade infrastructure, CRWD is one of the leading pureplay companies. CRWD entered fiscal 2027 with strong momentum, with the fiscal first quarter revenues rising 26% year over year to $1.39 billion and ARR reaching $5.51 billion (up 24%), alongside record net new ARR of $256 million (up 32%). Management emphasized that as enterprises rapidly adopt AI, cybersecurity has become a critical component, creating a massive demand pipeline.
CrowdStrike is seeing strong adoption across cloud, identity and next-gen SIEM, with these newer categories exceeding $2 billion in ARR. The company expects fiscal second quarter revenues to be between $1.436 billion and $1.442 billion. CRWD raised its fiscal 2027 net new ARR growth guidance by 520 basis points at the midpoint
Aptiv PLC APTV Intelligent Systems segment is seeing increased activity around next-generation ADAS, user experience and vehicle architecture solutions. However, in the near-term Aptiv is navigating a volatile macro backdrop amid OEM and auto industry disruptions and inflationary pressure. For the second quarter of 2026, Aptiv expects revenues (excluding its EDS segment, which spun-off into a new publicly traded company, Versigent) to be between $3.2 billion and $3.4 billion.
APTV has only about 25% of its business outside automotive. The company is seeking to increase penetration in markets such as commercial aerospace and telecom and remains focused on accelerating product development and go-to-market activities.

BB's Strong Start Prompts Higher FY27 Expectations: Can It Deliver?

Cerebras Systems CBRS announced on Thursday (July 22) that it has inked a partnership with CrowdStrike CRWD, under which the latter will leverage CBRS’ wafer-scale inference technology to help power Falcon AI Detection and Response (AIDR). This will enable larger AI security models to operate at machine speed for real-time threat detection. At the same time, Cerebras has standardized on the CrowdStrike Falcon platform to secure its own operations, underscoring the strategic nature of the collaboration.
Cerebras’ latest partnership with CrowdStrike marks another important validation of its high-speed AI inference platform and expands its presence into one of the fastest-growing enterprise AI markets — cybersecurity. The partnership reinforces Cerebras’ strategy of targeting latency-sensitive AI inference workloads, where response time directly impacts business outcomes. The company has emphasized that “fast tokens are more valuable tokens” because speed improves productivity and enables new AI applications, which are necessary for cybersecurity applications.
The CrowdStrike collaboration broadens Cerebras’ customer base beyond frontier AI model developers into enterprise software. This diversification complements the company’s recently announced multi-year OpenAI agreement worth more than $20 billion and its Amazon Web Services partnership, which are already driving strong commercial momentum. In the first quarter of 2026, revenues increased 94% year over year to $193.4 million, including 178% growth in cloud and other services revenues, reflecting accelerating adoption of Cerebras’ inference platform. CBRS raised its 2026 core revenue guidance to $855-$865 million, indicating 69% year-over-year growth at the midpoint.
The CrowdStrike partnership strengthens Cerebras’ positioning as an enterprise AI infrastructure provider rather than solely a hardware vendor. Cloud and services revenues are becoming an increasingly important growth driver for the company. Remaining performance obligations reached approximately $25 billion at the end of first-quarter, largely supported by long-term AI infrastructure contracts. The addition of cybersecurity to CBRS’ portfolio of inference use cases expands the company’s addressable market, thereby driving top-line growth over the long term.
Cerebras Faces Tough Competition
Cerebras is facing stiff competition from the likes of CoreWeave CRWV and Broadcom AVGO in the AI infrastructure domain.
CoreWeave is pursuing one of the industry's largest AI infrastructure expansions. In partnership with NVIDIA, the company plans to build more than 5 gigawatts (GW) of AI factory capacity by 2030 while adopting multiple generations of NVIDIA AI platforms. It also recently expanded its European footprint through new AI cloud deployments in Stockholm, Sweden, powered by renewable energy, and signed a $21 billion long-term AI infrastructure agreement with Meta.
Broadcom has been benefiting from rising AI revenues, driven by strong demand for XPUs. AI semiconductor revenues reached a record $10.8 billion in the fiscal second quarter, suggesting a 143% year-over-year surge. Broadcom expects it to rise to $16 billion in the fiscal third quarter, indicating more than 200% year-over-year growth. AVGO’s management disclosed that AI semiconductor bookings exceeded $30 billion during the fiscal second quarter, nearly three times quarterly AI shipments. Remaining Performance Obligations reached $164.6 billion, including commitments under new custom AI accelerator contracts. These agreements provide exceptional long-term revenue visibility.

Cerebras Scores With CrowdStrike Deal: What it Means for Investors

Stock-split euphoria has helped propel the broader market to new heights.
Artificial intelligence-driven cybersecurity solutions provider CrowdStrike Holdings completed its very first split (4-for-1) after the market closed on July 1.
Several factors point to Mark Zuckerberg's company as the most logical choice to be Wall Street's next major stock split.
Artificial intelligence (AI) isn't the only catalyst powering the broader market to new heights. Investor euphoria for high-profile stock splits has also provided a tailwind for Wall Street.
Though stock splits come in two varieties (forward and reverse), investors have flocked to companies undertaking forward splits, which make shares more nominally affordable for retail investors. AI cybersecurity solutions provider CrowdStrike Holdings (NASDAQ: CRWD) became the latest high-flying company to split its shares three weeks ago. But something even more "magnificent" may be waiting in the wings, courtesy of Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META).

CrowdStrike keeps stock-split euphoria rolling in 2026
In early June, CrowdStrike's board announced the company's first-ever stock split: a 4-for-1 forward split set to take place after the close of trading on July 1.
Like most forward splits, CrowdStrike was attempting to accommodate everyday investors who aren't able to purchase fractional shares through their broker. But its split was about far more than making its shares more nominally affordable. It was evidence that the company's AI-powered cybersecurity strategy is firing on all cylinders.

CrowdStrike's Falcon security platform is considerably nimbler than on-premises security solutions, resulting in faster detection and response to potential threats. Though its software-as-a-service solutions aren't the cheapest, CrowdStrike's gross retention rate has been planted in the high-90% range.
Furthermore, CrowdStrike has demonstrated that it's mastered the add-on sale. More than half of its clients had purchased at least six cloud modules as of the end of the fiscal first quarter (April 30), with 25% buying eight or more. Juicy subscription software margins have propelled CrowdStrike's stock to an all-time high.
The logical case for a Meta Platforms stock split
Social media titan Meta Platforms is the only member of the "Magnificent Seven" that's never conducted a stock split. But with its shares hovering between roughly $500 and $800 over the trailing two years, it's fair to question if its nominally high share price has become a hindrance to some retail investors.
As of mid-July, nearly 29% of the company's outstanding shares were held by everyday investors. Though CEO Mark Zuckerberg is the largest shareholder and decision-maker, 29% is a relatively large retail investor presence. If shares become more nominally affordable, Zuckerberg can likely count on more retail investors piling in.
Additionally, a stock split might put Meta Platforms on the S&P Dow Jones Indices' radar for future inclusion in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES: ^DJI). Although the Dow is a share-price-weighted index, Meta's nearly $650 current share price may be a bit much. A 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 split would make it ideal for future inclusion in one of Wall Street's most prominent health barometers.
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, Meta's operating trajectory suggests its share price will head even higher. The company's social media assets are commanding exceptional ad pricing power, fueled in part by the integration of generative AI into Meta's advertising platforms. Meanwhile, Zuckerberg's company is rapidly expanding its AI data center infrastructure and planning to lease some of its compute capacity.
All signs point to Meta Platforms as the next logical stock-split stock on Wall Street.

CrowdStrike Just Became Wall Street's Newest Stock-Split Stock, but Something More "Magnificent" May Be Next

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Wednesday closed down -0.14%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed down -0.01%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed down -0.54%. September E-mini S&P futures (ESU26) fell -0.07%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU26) fell -0.48%.
Stock indexes fell on Wednesday as soaring crude prices pushed bond yields higher, weighing on stocks. WTI crude oil (CLU26) rose more than +2% on Wednesday to a 6-week high after the US and Iran played down the prospects of peace talks as disruptions to global oil supplies continued to mount. The 10-year T-note yield climbed to a 2-month high of 4.66% on Wednesday amid rising crude oil prices.

The weakness in software and cybersecurity stocks on Wednesday also weighed on equities. The markets are waiting for earnings results after Wednesday’s close from Alphabet to see evidence that the company’s investments in artificial intelligence are generating returns, as it plans to more than double capital spending from 2025 to as much as $190 billion this year. On the positive side, most chipmakers strengthened, and energy producers and service providers moved higher with Wednesday’s rally in WTI crude oil to a 6-week high.
The US conducted an 11th straight day of attacks against Iran on Wednesday in an effort to degrade the country's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated by striking US bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. President Trump said on Tuesday that the US has “no interest” in meeting with Iran until they are ready for serious peace negotiations.
Also, the Joint Maritime Information Center, a monitoring body for naval security, said on Wednesday that the Iran-backed Houthi rebels have deployed missiles and drones in preparation for attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. The Houthis have vowed to blockade shipping linked to Saudi Arabia and warned shipowners against calling at the nation's ports. The move threatens Saudi oil exports from Yanbu, a Red Sea hub that the Saudi's are using to ship crude since the war brought shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to a near halt. President Trump said Tuesday that if there is a blockade in the Red Sea, the US “will take care of it.”
US MBA mortgage applications rose +1.9% in the week ended July 17, with the purchase mortgage sub-index up +5.5% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -2.4%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose +4 bp to an 11-month high of 6.69% from 6.65% in the prior week.
The outlook for strong Q2 earnings, which begin in earnest this week, is a bullish factor for stocks. Forecasts compiled by Bloomberg Intelligence suggest Q2 earnings may increase by +23%, close to Q1’s blowout earnings of +30%, which was more than double the +12% analysts had expected. AI spending is expected to account for most of earnings, with AI infrastructure stocks set to contribute nearly 60% of the S&P 500's earnings-per-share growth in Q2. So far, earnings results have been positive as 89% of the S&P 500 companies that reported Q2 earnings results have beaten estimates, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
The markets are discounting a 34% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on July 28-29.
Overseas stock markets settled mixed on Wednesday. The Euro Stoxx 50 climbed to a 2-week high and closed up +0.50%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +0.07%. Japan's Nikkei-225 Stock Average closed down -0.18%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) on Wednesday closed down -7 ticks, and the 10-year T-note yield rose +3.3 bp to 4.661%. Sep T-notes tumbled to a 17-month nearest-futures low on Wednesday, and the 10-year T-note yield rose to a 2-month high of 4.663%. T-notes retreated on Wednesday as WTI crude oil prices rose more than +2% to a 6-week high, which raised inflation expectations and is a hawkish factor for Fed policy. The 10-year breakeven inflation rate rose to a 1-week high of 2.290% on Wednesday. Also, tepid demand for the Treasury’s $13 billion auction of 20-year T-bonds weighed on T-note prices as the auction had a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.64, below the 10-auction average of 2.65.
European government bond yields moved higher on Wednesday. The 10-year German bund yield rose to a 2-month high of 3.192% and finished up +0.8 bp to 3.171%. The 10-year UK gilt yield climbed to a 2-month high of 5.065% and finished up +0.4 bp to 5.034%.
UK Jun CPI eased to +2.6% y/y from +3.8% y/y in May, weaker than expectations of +2.7% y/y and the slowest pace of increase in 15 months. However, Jun core CPI was unchanged from May at +2.6% y/y, stronger than the +2.5% y/y expected.
Swaps are discounting a 5% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on Thursday.
US Stock Movers
Software stocks are under pressure today, weighing on the broader market. ServiceNow (NOW) and Palantir Technologies (PLTR) closed down more than -6%, and Workday (WDAY) closed down more than -6% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100. Also, Atlassian Corp (TEAM) closed down more than -5%, and Salesforce (CRM) closed down more than -4% to lead losers in the Dow Jones Industrials. In addition, Adobe Systems (ADBE), Datadog (DDOG), Autodesk (ADSK), and Thomson Reuters (TRI) closed down more than -3%, and Microsoft (MSFT) closed down more than -2%.

GE Vernova (GEV) closed down more than -8% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after reporting Q2 adjusted Ebitda of $1.25 billion, below the consensus of $1.29 billion.
Reddit (RDDT) closed down more than -8% after the Wall Street Journal reported that the company has discussed cutting off Google’s access to its content for AI use.
TE Connectivity Plc (TEL) closed down more than -4% after announcing it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Astrodyne TDI for about $1.4 billion.

Stocks Settle Lower as Crude Oil Prices Jump

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) today is down -0.09%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) is up +0.10%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is down -0.29%. September E-mini S&P futures (ESU26) are down -0.07%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU26) are down -0.22%.
Stock indexes are under modest today amid weakness in software and cybersecurity stocks. The markets are waiting for earnings results after the close today from Alphabet to see evidence that the company’s investments in artificial intelligence are generating returns, as it plans to more than double capital spending from 2025 to as much as $190 billion this year. On the positive side, energy producers and service providers are moving higher with today’s rally in WTI crude oil to a 6-week high.

Soaring WTI crude oil (CLU26) prices are also pushing bond yields higher and are weighing on stocks. Crude oil is up more than +2% today to a 6-week high after the US and Iran played down the prospects of peace talks as disruptions to global oil supplies continued to mount. The 10-year T-note yield climbed to a 2-month high of 4.66% today amid rising crude oil prices.
The US conducted an 11th straight day of attacks on Iran today in an effort to degrade the country's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated by striking US bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. President Trump said on Tuesday that the US has “no interest” in meeting with Iran until they are ready for serious peace negotiations.
Also, the Joint Maritime Information Center, a monitoring body for naval security, said the Iran-backed Houthi rebels have deployed missiles and drones in preparation for attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. The Houthis have vowed to blockade shipping linked to Saudi Arabia and warned shipowners against calling at the nation's ports. The move threatens Saudi oil exports from Yanbu, a Red Sea hub that the Saudi's are using to ship crude since the war brought shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to a near halt. President Trump said Tuesday that if there is a blockade in the Red Sea, the US “will take care of it.”
US MBA mortgage applications rose +1.9% in the week ended July 17, with the purchase mortgage sub-index up +5.5% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -2.4%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose +4 bp to an 11-month high of 6.69% from 6.65% in the prior week.
The outlook for strong Q2 earnings, which begin in earnest this week, is a bullish factor for stocks. Forecasts compiled by Bloomberg Intelligence suggest Q2 earnings may increase by +23%, close to Q1’s blowout earnings of +30%, which was more than double the +12% analysts had expected. AI spending is expected to account for most of earnings, with AI infrastructure stocks set to contribute nearly 60% of the S&P 500's earnings-per-share growth in Q2. So far, earnings results have been positive as 91% of the S&P 500 companies that reported Q2 earnings results have beaten estimates, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
The markets are discounting a 34% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on July 28-29.
Overseas stock markets are mixed today. The Euro Stoxx 50 climbed to a 2-week high and is up +0.55%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +0.07%. Japan's Nikkei-225 Stock Average closed down -0.18%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) today are down -7 ticks, and the 10-year T-note yield is up +2.6 bp at 4.655%. Sep T-notes tumbled to a 17-month nearest-futures low today, and the 10-year T-note yield rose to a 2-month high of 4.659%. T-notes are sliding today, with WTI crude oil prices up more than +2% to a 6-week high, which raises inflation expectations and is a hawkish factor for Fed policy. The 10-year breakeven inflation rate rose to a 1-week high of 2.288% today. Also, supply pressures are weighing on T-notes as the Treasury will auction $13 billion of 20-year T-bonds later today.
European government bond yields are moving higher today. The 10-year German bund yield rose to a 2-month high of 3.192% and is up +2.1 bp to 3.184%. The 10-year UK gilt yield climbed to a 2-month high of 5.065% and is up +2.4 bp to 5.054%.
UK Jun CPI eased to +2.6% y/y from +3.8% y/y in May, weaker than expectations of +2.7% y/y and the slowest pace of increase in 15 months. However, Jun core CPI was unchanged from May at +2.6% y/y, stronger than the +2.5% y/y expected.
Swaps are discounting a 5% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on Thursday.
US Stock Movers
Software stocks are under pressure today, weighing on the broader market. Atlassian Corp (TEAM) is down more than -5%, and Workday (WDAY) is down more than -5% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100. Over the last 30 days, the Nasdaq-100 technology index has declined by 3.6%, led by even steeper losses in artificial intelligence (AI) stocks like Broadcom and Micron Technology. However, some tech stocks with less exposure to the AI semiconductor industry have performed exceptionally well over the same stretch.

Atlassian's recovery could have legs
Although Atlassian stock is performing well right now, it's still down 50% from its 52-week high. Its recent upside is part of a broader recovery that started in April, and it could have momentum going forward. In fact, I bought this stock myself a few months ago because I see real value here.
Atlassian developed software products like Jira and Confluence, which are designed to foster collaboration among employees in large organizations. Its stock has come under pressure amid concerns that AI could shrink the global workforce, and thus reduce the revenue of software companies that charge customers on a per-user basis. Plus, some analysts think AI tools like Anthropic's Claude Code will make it easy for regular businesses to build their own versions of Jira and Confluence.
I think both concerns are overblown. First, Atlassian created its own AI platform called Rovo, which enhances its existing software products and also introduces entirely new tools. Demand for Rovo contributed to the company's impressive 32% year-over-year revenue growth during its fiscal 2026 third quarter (ended March 31). That growth rate accelerated from 23% in the prior quarter three months earlier, so there is no sign the overall business is losing momentum.
Second, Atlassian offers more than just software. It provides the technical support, infrastructure, and security that businesses need to deploy products like Jira, Confluence, and Rovo, which are only economical at scale. In other words, it would be too expensive for the average business to build its own versions of these products and deploy them in a safe and secure manner.
Despite its recent gains, Atlassian stock is still cheap. It trades at a price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of just 3.9, which is less than half its three-year average of 10.3.
Atlassian has over 350,000 existing enterprise customers, so while most new AI software providers have to build their customer base from scratch, this company has a huge advantage and is uniquely positioned to become one of the industry leaders.
CrowdStrike stock is soaring, but it isn't cheap
CrowdStrike is one of the world's largest cybersecurity companies. It has created so much value over the long term that its stock recently traded as high as $767, prompting management to execute a 4-for-1 split to make it more accessible to small investors. Stock splits don't change the value of the underlying company, but investors can now pick up a single CrowdStrike share for a much lower price of $200. But should they?
CrowdStrike's Falcon platform is one of the cybersecurity industry's only true all-in-one enterprise solutions, protecting cloud networks, endpoints, and everything in between. Customers can choose from 33 modules (products) to achieve the optimal level of protection, and with the Flex subscription, they can set a fixed annual budget and switch between different modules as their needs change.
Falcon uses AI to automate threat detection and incident response, but CrowdStrike is also expanding the platform to protect businesses that are deploying AI into their operations. For example, the relatively new AI Detection and Response (AIDR) module can identify unauthorized AI applications running within a corporate network and track inputs and outputs across trusted apps, so it can detect anyone attempting to orchestrate a breach by entering malicious prompts.
CrowdStrike had $5.5 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR) at the conclusion of its fiscal 2027 first quarter (ended April 30), which was up 24% from the year-ago period. Falcon Flex subscriptions nearly doubled and accounted for $1.9 billion of that total, so this option is really resonating with customers. AI modules are also proving extremely popular, with AIDR alone experiencing a whopping 250% sequential increase in ARR during the quarter.
But rapid growth might not be enough to make CrowdStrike stock a buy. Its P/S ratio is a sky-high 40.5, so it's significantly more expensive than each of its rivals in the cybersecurity space.
Therefore, while CrowdStrike is bucking the recent sell-off in the Nasdaq-100, its valuation doesn't leave much room for near-term upside.
