Fresh off a hot initial public offering (IPO) earlier this year, CoreWeave has emerged as an integral player in the AI infrastructure market. Let's dive into CoreWeave's business and explore how the company is transforming the AI landscape.
What does CoreWeave do?
For the last few years, investors have learned about the important role that advanced chipsets known as graphics processing units (GPUs) play in the development of generative AI. The GPU market is largely dominated by Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices, both of which are able to command hefty price tags for their coveted data center hardware.
While AI has served as an unprecedented tailwind for the chip market, one of the subtle nuances is that this demand has brought a series of complications to supply and demand dynamics.
This is where CoreWeave comes into play. CoreWeave operates as a "neocloud," which is a specialized type of business that allows companies to access GPU architecture through cloud-based infrastructure. This flexible model appeals to businesses that may not be able to purchase GPUs directly from Nvidia or its cohorts due to rising price dynamics.
By offering an agile and potentially more affordable model than cloud hyperscalers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform, CoreWeave has been able to attract a number of high-profile customers and ink a series of multiyear, billion-dollar deals.
What does CoreWeave's growth look like?
For the quarter ended March 31, CoreWeave generated $982 million in revenue -- up 420% year over year. While the company's net loss widened more than twofold compared to the year-ago quarter, CoreWeave has some catalysts that should quickly turn around the dynamics of its profitability profile. See estimates in the chart below.
During theearnings call management raised guidance for both revenue and capital expenditures (capex). While more spending may stifle profitability in the short term, these investments are necessary foundations for the longer-term opportunity in AI infrastructure.
As Wall Street's estimates pictured in the chart above showcase, CoreWeave's investments today should help secure more access to Nvidia's Blackwell GPU architecture and should ultimately serve as a tailwind for more accelerated growth down the road.
Is CoreWeave stock a buy right now?
In the chart below, I compare CoreWeave to Oracle on a price-to-sales (P/S) basis. Oracle is also a leading player in infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), having just signed a $30 billion cloud deal of its own, so it's comparable to CoreWeave. That single deal is expected to bring in nearly twice the amount of CoreWeave's total 2027 revenue. And yet, investors are placing a twofold premium on CoreWeave's P/S multiple when compared to Oracle.
I think there are a couple of nuances to point out when it comes to CoreWeave's valuation relative to a peer such as Oracle.
First, Oracle is experiencing a transition period -- effectively replacing slow-growth (or no-growth) segments of the business with its new, budding data center infrastructure operation. For this reason, investors are likely applying a discount to Oracle relative to a high-growth AI stock such as CoreWeave.
Moreover, CoreWeave completed an IPO earlier this year. Since then, the company has inked an $11.2 billion deal with OpenAI, announced the planned acquisition of Core Scientific to bolster its platform, and earned a spot in some of Wall Street's most respected institutional portfolios.
This confluence of factors is more than enough to garner outsize excitement and enthusiasm from investors. For these reasons, I'm not surprised to see CoreWeave trading at such a premium.
I think the most prudent course of action for investors is to buy CoreWeave stock at different price points over a long-term time horizon. If you invest the same amount of money at set time intervals, that is known as dollar-cost averaging, and can help mitigate risk by removing specific timing and price points from the equation.
Overall, I see CoreWeave as a compelling opportunity that is well positioned to dominate the infrastructure chapter of the AI narrative. If I could buy only one Nvidia-backed data center stock, CoreWeave would be it.

But investors don't pay too much mind to the past -- they want to know what's coming down the pike. To this end, they can expect big things from CoreWeave over the next year.

Management expects massive revenue growth in 2025 -- and that's not all
Demand for data center infrastructure to support artificial intelligence (AI) computing is absolutely soaring. Without the necessary infrastructure in place, AI companies will be unable to meet the steep computing needs that AI requires, so companies are investing hefty sums on data centers. And CoreWeave is certainly benefiting. In 2023 and 2024, the company reported year-over-year revenue growth of 1,346% and 737%, respectively.
With respect to profitability, the company has also enjoyed success. Whereas CoreWeave reported adjusted operating income of negative $21.4 million in 2022, things improved in 2023, when the company reported adjusted operating income of $0.7 million, and then $355.8 million in 2024.
Looking ahead, the company is confident that revenue and profit growth will extend through 2025. In addition to forecasting 2025 sales of $4.9 billion to $5.1 billion, management projects adjusted operating income of $800 million to $830 million. If the company reports the midpoint of both of these metrics, it means that it will have achieved revenue and adjusted operating income year-over-year growth of 163% and 129%, respectively.
After 2025, CoreWeave may experience even more robust growth
While management's forecast for 2025 is encouraging, investors -- we hope -- aren't investing with their outlooks limited to one year's time. It's important, therefore, to consider what lies ahead for CoreWeave in 2026 and beyond. Fortunately, investors received some considerable clarity in that regard with the company's recent announcement that it will acquire Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ), a leader in data center infrastructure designed for AI computing and cryptocurrency mining.
Data centers catering to AI computing require significant amounts of power to keep operations running smoothly, and the acquisition will help fortify CoreWeave's position with respect to its power needs. Already, CoreWeave relies on Core Scientific for about 0.8 gigawatts (GW) of its power capacity, and with the acquisition, it will gain access to the other 0.5 GW of power capacity that Core Scientific possesses. But wait, there's more. CoreWeave will also have another 1 GW of expansion capacity. All of this removes a potential roadblock that CoreWeave could encounter in trying to expand its data center infrastructure.
Another encouraging sign for CoreWeave's future is the synergies to be realized after the acquisition is completed. According to management, CoreWeave will immediately recognize the benefit of eliminating over $10 billion in lease liability overhead costs over the next 12 years. Operating a more efficient model once the acquisition is done, CoreWeave projects it will recognize $500 million in annual run-rate cost savings by the end of 2027.
Is now a good time buy CoreWeave stock?
Although CoreWeave recognizes the upcoming acquisition of Core Scientific -- expected to be completed later this year -- as an engine to drive growth, the market has mixed feelings. As of this writing, shares of CoreWeave are down about 17% since the announcement of the acquisition.
With greater clarity into the power supply for CoreWeave's operations and the billions the company will save in lease liability overhead costs, there's a lot to like about the acquisition, making CoreWeave even more attractive as an opportunity to ride the powerful wave of AI growth.
Compounded with the fact that the company still reports a net loss, there's risk in a CoreWeave investment in that there's no certainty the company will execute its growth plans. For those investors comfortable with the inherent risks, though, today seems like a good time to click the buy button on CoreWeave stock.

In trading on Monday, the Amplify Transformational Data Sharing ETF is outperforming other ETFs, up about 1.7% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of Canaan, up about 24.6% and shares of Core Scientific, up about 6.5% on the day.
And underperforming other ETFs today is the VanEck Oil Service ETF, off about 3.1% in Monday afternoon trading. Among components of that ETF with the weakest showing on Monday were shares of Nabors Industries, lower by about 5.3%, and shares of Halliburton, lower by about 4.8% on the day.

Over the past couple of years, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) and Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) have both shown their strengths in artificial intelligence (AI) -- and as a result, their earnings and stock performance have soared. Last year, Nvidia was the best-performing component in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (though it only was added to the venerable blue chip index in November), and Palantir posted the biggest gain in the S&P 500.
Both of these players have continued to advance, and considering that we're in the early stages of the AI boom, more earnings growth and stock price gains could be on the way. But, in the first half of 2025, another company emerged as a potential AI powerhouse. In fact, this particular stock actually outperformed Nvidia and Palantir in the period, climbing by a mind-boggling 300%. Now you may be wondering whether this high flyer is still a buy.

A company with close ties to Nvidia
This top-performing AI stock actually is new to the market, completing its initial public offering in late March, so its triple-digit gains took place over a period of only three months. I'm referring to CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV), a company that is closely linked to Nvidia. This is because CoreWeave generates most of its revenue by renting out access to its vast collection of Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs). The company has more than 250,000 of them deployed across its cloud infrastructure platform, and it specializes in handling AI workloads, offering customers the configurations they need to accomplish their goals faster.
Nvidia owns a 7% stake in CoreWeave, and made it possible for the young company to be the first to launch its latest GPUs. In February, CoreWeave became the first hyperscaler to make Nvidia's new Blackwell architecture broadly available -- and it just did the same recently with the latest iteration, Blackwell Ultra.
So, a bet on CoreWeave is a bet on demand for Nvidia's latest chips. Its first-quarter earnings report showed this demand is going strong, as its revenue climbed by more than 400% year over year, and Nvidia's own Q1 earnings report offered additional clues: For example, Nvidia said it saw a leap in demand for inferencing computing power in the quarter. This sort of trend is likely to benefit CoreWeave.
GPUs to fuel inferencing
Inferencing is the process an AI model goes through when attempting to answer complex questions -- and it takes significant parallel processing power of the type provided by GPUs and other AI accelerators. As more people and organizations apply AI to real-world problems, inferencing could drive a whole new era of growth for companies like Nvidia and CoreWeave. It's important to remember that the need for GPUs doesn't end once a model is trained. CoreWeave's fleet of cloud servers may have plenty of busy days ahead over the long term.
All of this is great, but CoreWeave still carries some risk for shareholders -- and that's due to the enormous and ongoing investments in infrastructure required to serve demand for GPUs. The company will have to keep up its capital spending to increase the size and power of its fleet of GPU clusters, and considering that Nvidia aims to roll out new chip architectures annually, CoreWeave will have to make those investments frequently to keep its offerings top of the line.
All of this makes it difficult to estimate when CoreWeave will reach profitability. In the first quarter, its technology and infrastructure expenses surged by more than 500% to about $500 million, and it's fair to say the company is early in its growth story. It's also important to note that CoreWeave is in an expansion phase that involves other investments too. Some of those up-front costs may result in savings down the road.
Acquiring Core Scientific
One example is the company's recently announced plan to buy Core Scientific -- once that deal closes, CoreWeave no longer will have to pay rent to the data center operator, resulting in the savings of $10 billion in future lease payments. Though this will be a positive, CoreWeave's stock fell after the announcement earlier this week due to investors' concerns about share dilution -- it's an all-stock deal with a value of $9 billion. Investors also know that any acquisition comes with some risks and costs, as the buyer will have to integrate its new operations into its existing business.
So the question remains: After strongly outperforming two of the market's biggest AI companies year to date, is CoreWeave still a buy? The answer depends on your investment strategy. If you're a cautious or value investor, you'd be better off exploring other opportunities. But if you're an aggressive investor who buys and holds stocks for the long term, now would still be a good time to add a few CoreWeave shares to your portfolio -- demand for AI and CoreWeave's immediate access to Nvidia's latest GPUs could result in major gains over the long run.

This Stock Outperformed Nvidia and Palantir in the First Half. Is It Still a Buy?

On Monday, July 7, AI infrastructure darling CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV) announced it would be acquiring Bitcoin miner Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ) in an all-stock deal.
Large acquisitions like this $9 billion venture can sometimes blow up in the acquiror's face. However, delving into the details of this deal's terms, not only does the combined company appear to have a high-probability of realizing significant benefits, but the acquisition also appears to have limited risks relative to typical large deals.

Three big benefits
In this deal, CoreWeave is essentially acquiring its landlord. Founded in 2017, Core Scientific had been a Bitcoin miner, but has more recently been transforming itself into an AI data center co-location host for others, most notably CoreWeave.
CoreWeave's rationale for the deal essentially comprises three big points: secure future capacity, operational cost savings, and a lower financial cost of capital.
On capacity, CoreWeave will acquire Core Scientific's current 1.3 Gigawatt (GW) data center footprint, including 840 Megawatts (MW) of data centers leased to CoreWeave, along with 500 MW of Core Scientific's Bitcoin mining infrastructure, which can either be repurposed or sold. In addition, and perhaps more important, CoreWeave will acquire over 1 GW of future capacity that Core Scientific has contracted with power providers.
The future 1 GW is so important because power capacity is the one big bottleneck in the AI world today. Earlier this year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella noted Microsoft was no longer "chip-constrained," in terms of access to Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) GPUs, but rather "power-constrained." Therefore, CoreWeave's securing of contracted future power capacity significantly derisks its growth plans.
And of course, since CoreWeave will now own its infrastructure, it will save $10 billion in future lease payments, thereby cutting out the margin on those lease payments that would have gone to Core Scientific's bottom line. In the acquisition presentation, CoreWeave management noted operational and lease payment savings will net out to over $500 million annually by the end of 2027. At the $9 billion acquisition value, that means CoreWeave is acquiring these cost savings at an 18 forward P/E multiple.
That's not only a reasonable market multiple, but CoreWeave is also getting the aforementioned capacity for future growth and 500 MW of Bitcoin mining data centers on top, which CoreWeave can either repurpose or sell.
Lease and operational savings also aren't the only savings CoreWeave will realize. As CoreWeave expands, it will have to finance its expansion with either equity or debt. To that end, management noted the combined companies should be able to save "several hundred basis points" on the interest rate it will pay on debt it will need to fund future growth capital expenditures, because of the larger company's size and scale.
Risks mitigated
Normally, major acquisitions entail a certain amount of risk from taking on debt, overpaying, or not realizing anticipated synergies. But in this case, CoreWeave seems to have mitigated all the typical of major acquisition pitfalls.
First, CoreWeave isn't using any debt for the acquisition, so it's not increasing the combined companies' leverage ratio. Of course, both CoreWeave and Core Scientific each use debt in their existing capital structures already, so buying Core Scientific with all equity made sense.
Not only was paying with equity a necessity, but CoreWeave's high stock price, which has quadrupled over the past three months, makes the Core Scientific buy look quite cheap. Using CoreWeave's March IPO price of $40 would have essentially increased this acquisition's cost four times over. The quadrupling of CoreWeave's stock since then and using that high-priced stock as currency with one quarter the share dilution makes it hard to conclude that CoreWeave is overpaying.
And in terms of fully realizing anticipated synergies, the cost savings of the deal are fairly automatic. CoreWeave was already on the hook for $10 billion in future lease payments to Core Scientific, and CoreWeave will simply not have to make those payments now.
In short, selling high-priced stock -- some might even say overvalued stock -- to pay off a debt in the form of future lease payments is a pretty sensible move that has probably increased the intrinsic value of the company.
What does Core Scientific get out of it?
Some might ask what Core Scientific's angle is here, since it essentially agreed to be acquired with CoreWeave's high-priced stock.
There are probably two reasons: one defensive and one offensive. On the defensive side, Core Scientific was in the middle of a business pivot, as its traditional Bitcoin mining operations had became less profitable. In April 2024, there was a Bitcoin halving, which means miners receive only half as much Bitcoin for each new block mined. As a result, Core Scientific's revenue and profits from mining fell significantly over the past year, which was also exacerbated by its transition to a data center host for CoreWeave and other AI companies.
Core Scientific also likely saw CoreWeave's potential as the current leading AI neocloud being a more attractive business than essentially being a landlord for CoreWeave and others. It's also possible that CoreWeave has expertise in running AI clusters that Core Scientific didn't possess, which would make a potential Core Scientific transition into an AI neocloud itself -- essentially a competitor to CoreWeave -- much harder.
Thus, the prospect of combining with CoreWeave to become the largest-scaled AI neocloud was too good a future opportunity to pass up, even if Core Scientific shareholders had to pay a fancy-looking price today.
CoreWeave still has risks, but is less risky post-acquisition
The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year. When it does, CoreWeave will undoubtedly be a stronger company. However, whether that makes the stock attractive depends on future execution. CoreWeave's valuation is still quite high, and it continues to carry the risks of its somewhat circular relationship with Nvidia.
However, in terms of its debt load, operating cost burdens, and future growth capacity, those risks seem to have been lessened by this attractive deal with Core Scientific.

Noteworthy Monday Option Activity: CORZ, GME, TIPT

NIKE Inc.’s (NKE) shares soared 15.2% after the company reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2025adjusted earnings per share of $0.14, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.12.
Shares of Concentrix Corp. (CNXC) tumbled 6.2% after posting second-quarter fiscal 2025 adjusted earnings per share of $2.70, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.76.
CorMedix Inc.’s (CRMD) shares plunged 16.4% after the company announced a common stock offering of $85 million.
Shares of Core Scientific Inc. (CORZ) rose 1.8% following The Wall Street Journal news that the bitcoin miner is in talks to be acquired by AI infrastructure giant CoreWeave Inc. (CRWV).

Despite strong gains for the broader market, CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV) stock closed out this week's trading down by double digits. The artificial intelligence (AI) specialist's share price fell 12.8% over the stretch. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 index rose 3.4%.
CoreWeave stock lost ground this week following fresh analyst coverage and news that Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) is making a bigger push in the cloud computing space. The company's valuation was also pressured by reports that a big acquisition move could be in the works.

CoreWeave falls on analyst note and Nvidia news
Before the market opened on Wednesday, H.C. Wainwright published its first rating on CoreWeave. The investment firm set a neutral rating on the tech specialist's stock, with analyst Kevin Dede raising some valuation concerns despite also acknowledging that CoreWeave had demonstrated its computing strengths.
The Wall Street Journal also published a report on Wednesday stating that Nvidia plans to ramp up its own cloud-computing business. Nvidia's advanced graphics processing units (GPUs) have been the key hardware at the center of the AI data center revolution, but the tech leader is also in the relatively early stages of building its own AI-as-a-service (AIaaS) business. The company is a financial backer of CoreWeave, but some investors are worried that the tech giant could move in on the smaller player's turf.
Investors are split on CoreWeave's reported acquisition move
On Thursday, WSJ reported that CoreWeave is negotiating a deal to acquire Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ). According to the report, a buyout could be finalized within weeks and is expected to assign a Core Scientific substantial valuation premium. Based on subsequent trading for CoreWeave, the reaction from investors appears to be mixed. Analysts are also split on what the buyout valuation might look like.
Jeffries put forward a lower-end target, estimating that CoreWeave could pay between $16 per share and $23 per share to purchase Core Scientific. Cantor Fitzgerald put the potential buyout price at above $30 per share, and Roth Capital expects the company could pay as much as $38 per share in an all-stock deal. Given that CoreWeave tried to acquire Core Scientific at a price of $5.75 per share last year, some investors may be worried that the company is at risk of overpaying in the potential buyout.
