The top 10
Ten stocks of companies with market caps of $10 billion or more have outgained Palantir so far in 2025:

This list reflects several fast-growing markets. Like Palantir, three of the stocks have strong artificial intelligence (AI) connections. Coreweave is an AI cloud computing provider. Symbotic is a leader in AI-powered robotics for warehouses. NuScale Power makes small modular nuclear reactors that generate electricity, with a special focus on providing power for AI data centers.
Roblox runs a virtual universe for online gamers. It also has AI ties, though. For example, Roblox Cube is a generative AI application that helps users create 3D and 4D objects and scenes for its gaming platform.
Three of the stocks outperforming Palantir this year are in the financial services business. Robinhood is a popular online brokerage. Circle Internet Group specializes in building the infrastructure for stablecoins. Futu Holdings operates a digital brokerage and wealth management platform.
AngloGold Ashanti is a global gold mining company, but it's intertwined with the financial world. The price of gold has skyrocketed due largely to investors' concerns about market volatility.
Two other stocks are flying high -- literally. AST SpaceMobile is building a satellite-based broadband network. Joby Aviation operates vertical takeoff and landing air taxis.
Wall Street's take
Wall Street isn't bullish on Palantir. Only four of the analysts surveyed by LSEG in July recommended buying the stock. The consensus 12-month price target for Palantir is 34% lower than the current share price.
Do analysts have more favorable opinions about the 10 large-cap stocks that have outgained Palantir this year? For the most part, no.
The price targets for Coreweave, Robinhood, NuScale Power, Symbotic, and Roblox are at least 30% below the share prices for these stocks. The average price target for Joby Aviation is more than 50% lower than its share price. Analysts also expect shares of Circle Internet Group, Futu Holdings, and AST SpaceMobile to fall by double-digit percentages over the next 12 months.
Of the 10 large-cap stocks outperforming Palantir in 2025, only one has a consensus price target that reflects positive upside potential -- AngloGold Ashanti. But don't get excited yet. Analysts think the gold miner's shares will rise by less than 3% over the near term.
Are the analysts right?
I suspect Wall Street analysts are right to be skeptical about the near-term prospects of most of these high-flying stocks. The biggest knock against them (with a couple of exceptions) is their exorbitant valuations. That's the main issue for Palantir, too.
However, AngloGold Ashanti's shares trade at only 10.4 times forward earnings even after its huge gains. And while Symbotic's earnings multiples are at nosebleed levels, the stock's price-to-sales ratio is a much more reasonable 1.33.
Any or all of these stocks could continue to soar over the coming months. I think, though, that the best choices are the most attractively valued -- AngloGold Ashanti and Symbotic.

AST stock surged on $550 million financing to support big spectrum deal
A week ago Sunday, AST announced that one of its subsidiaries had secured $550 million in funding to support its deal to license wireless spectrum from Ligado Networks. Through the licensing deal, AST SpaceMobile will receive access to 40 MHz of L-Band MSS spectrum in the United States and Canada. The licensing deal extends for more than 80 years and also potentially grants AST access to an addition 5 MHz of category spectrum in the U.S. market. Investors appear to be happy with AST's financing moves to support the deal and bid the company's stock higher in each of last week's trading days.
What's next for AST SpaceMobile?
On the heels of recent gains, AST SpaceMobile now has a market capitalization of roughly $14.4 billion and is valued at approximately 37 times this year's expected sales and 234 times expected earnings. While the company has a highly growth-dependent valuation, it also appears to be in the early stages of a major new growth phase.
The company's satellite-based cellular broadband network has the distinction of already being compatible with existing mobile devices without the need for add-ons or modifications, and the service could wind up having a disruptive impact in the consumer telecommunications industry. Outside the consumer market, investors are also excited about the company's potential to win deals with U.S. defense agencies and related contractors.

Why AST SpaceMobile Stock Skyrocketed Last Week

AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS) has a great story behind it. And the story is about to take an important turn for the better. But is it the smartest investment you can make today? That's a harder question to answer and the answer depends on both your opinion and Wall Street's opinion of the business.
What does AST SpaceMobile do?
AST SpaceMobile is in the process of building a satellite network that will allow normal cellphones to have broadband connections "anywhere" on the planet. The word anywhere is in quotes because the service isn't fully operational yet. The big near-term goal is to provide coverage in the United States, Europe, and Japan. So there's a lot of the planet left to go.

Still, being able to get a cell connection in the middle of a desert or on top of a mountain is pretty attractive. A key part of the story, though, is that AST SpaceMobile isn't trying to go it alone. It is partnering with telecom giants like AT&T and Verizon Communications, which will sell the cell service to their customers. So AST SpaceMobile will be an add-on service, with monthly subscriptions for those who need it and lighter temporary options for those who only need such connectivity for a short time period.
The big problem is that AST SpaceMobile's service requires that it send a lot of expensive satellites into space. That takes time, and money, to get done. The money side looks increasingly doable, now that the service is about to launch. Notably, AST SpaceMobile was just able to get a $100 million loan backed by the satellites it is building.
Don't ignore AST SpaceMobile's price tag
The time factor involved in creating the satellite network, however, is a problem for investors in another way. Wall Street loves a good story, and AST SpaceMobile has a good story -- which helps explain why the stock is up more than 500% over the past three years. Over the past year alone the stock has risen more than 250%.
Given that AST SpaceMobile's business is still in the very early stages of its development, it seems like investors have priced in a lot of good news here. Keep in mind that the price-to-earnings ratio isn't a meaningful valuation tool because the company is losing money. And given the capital spending that still needs to take place it probably won't generate positive earnings for a long time to come.
The price-to-sales ratio, another of the more traditional valuation metrics, is currently over 1,000. That's an absurd figure, which suggests Wall Street believes the company's revenue will someday be gigantic. AT&T has a five-year average P/S ratio of 1.1, for comparison. In other words, buying AST SpaceMobile means you are paying a material amount for a business that is still just in its infancy.
Is buying AST SpaceMobile smart today?
There's no good answer to this question, because it involves the unknowable future. If you believe that AST SpaceMobile's business has huge potential, you may be willing to buy it today expecting the company to grow into the valuation of the stock.
However, more conservative investors should probably tread with caution given the hefty premium being afforded a company that's still largely untested. And value investors, well, they should probably run for the hills here (but at least they can get cellular broadband service when they do).

AST SpaceMobile, Inc. ASTS has selected Luxembourg as the new headquarters of its joint venture firm SatCo, which is formed in association with Vodafone Group Public Limited Company VOD. Luxembourg is situated in the heart of Western Europe, bordering Belgium, France and Germany. This makes it a key hub for trade and finance, facilitating extensive cross-border economic activity and easy access to major European markets. In addition, Luxembourg’s strong digital credentials make it an ideal spot for AST SpaceMobile and Vodafone to launch SatCo’s wholesale direct-to-device mobile broadband satellite services to leading European mobile network operators under a single turnkey arrangement.
The direct-to-device mobile broadband satellite services will complement the terrestrial networks and provide a secure and resilient digital communications infrastructure to help eliminate dead zones and empower remote areas of the region with space-based connectivity. Although the commercial services of SatCo are expected to commence from 2026, it has generated expressions of interest from network operators in 21 EU member states, as well as in other European markets. AST SpaceMobile and Vodafone aim to forge private and public sector partnerships to position Europe at the forefront of direct-to-mobile space-based broadband connectivity with everyday smartphones.
The Luxembourg headquarters will deploy a small network of earth stations to seamlessly integrate with terrestrial network operators, providing secure backhaul links and an extended coverage across Europe from the AST SpaceMobile satellite constellation in low Earth orbit. This will enable users to switch automatically between space and land-based networks. The joint venture supports European digital sovereignty by creating a unified platform to deliver a cohesive space strategy across the continent, duly supported by the Luxembourg Government, key European policymakers, EU Member States and industry stakeholders.
ASTS Redefines Connectivity With BlueWalker Satellites
ASTS boasts a diverse portfolio of more than 3,650 patent and patent-pending claims worldwide for the direct-to-cell satellite ecosystem from space to Earth. Its SpaceMobile service is compatible with all major brands available in the market and connects directly to everyday mobile phones. It is based on a novel technology that delivers broadband connectivity from space to unmodified mobile devices, providing a service to fill cellular coverage gaps in a differentiated approach compared to other space-based communication services.
AST SpaceMobile's in-orbit BlueWalker 3 satellite has helped it to achieve its mission of creating a space-based cellular broadband network that directly links with mobile devices, eliminating the need for ground-based infrastructure. By expanding its connectivity to remote areas, the company aims to ensure that more people have access to vital communication services.
ASTS Gets Support From Leading U.S. Carriers
AST SpaceMobile has partnered with leading carriers such as AT&T Inc. T and Verizon Communications Inc. to tap into a pre-existing pool of cell customers and avail funds to help build a worldwide satellite network. With AT&T, ASTS has entered into a definitive commercial agreement, extending until 2030, to offer a space-based direct-to-mobile technology that complements and integrates with the former’s mobile network. This approach aims to provide customers with connectivity in locations previously deemed unreachable, enhancing AT&T’s industry leadership in utilizing emerging satellite technologies.
ASTS also collaborated with Verizon, wherein the latter made a $100 million commitment for satellite direct-to-cellular service for its customers. The two back-to-back deals sent ASTS’ stock price soaring. It further enhanced cellular coverage in the United States, essentially eliminating dead zones and empowering remote areas of the country with space-based connectivity.
ASTS Income Statement Bleeds Red
However, unfavorable macroeconomic conditions, including rising inflation, higher interest rates, capital market volatility, tariff imposition and geopolitical conflicts, are negatively impacting the company’s operations. These factors have led to continued fluctuations in satellite material prices, resulting in increased capital costs and pressure on the company’s financial performance.
Owing to high infrastructure set-up costs and research and development expenses for a highly sophisticated technology for developing satellites, AST SpaceMobile has reported losses for the past few years. Management also envisions significant expenditures in the upcoming months for building and launching the next crop of satellites in tune with its expansion plans to serve the full spectrum of U.S. subscribers. This has made ASTS a high-risk investment option.

ASTS Chooses Luxembourg as SatCo Headquarters: More Focus on Europe?

AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS) stock closed out last week's trading with another run of substantial gains. The company's share price ended this Friday's session up 7.4% from the previous week's closing price. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 index rose 3.4% over the stretch.
The broader market saw strong bullish momentum this week as key geopolitical risk factors appeared to moderate and investors bet on an increased likelihood that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates next month. Excitement surrounding defense applications for space-industry companies also helped push AST shares higher.

AST SpaceMobile stock rises amid market momentum and defense buzz
The S&P 500 rose this week and set a fresh record on Friday as the ceasefire between Israel and Iran held and Federal Reserve officials made comments suggesting that the central bank could cut interest rates next month. Investors also poured into defense technology stocks, and AST had some notable news to share on that front.
AST announced, in collaboration with Fairwinds Technologies, this week that it had successfully demonstrated the first non-terrestrial network (NTN) tactical satellite communications capable of serving up high-throughput data transmissions for standard mobile devices. The test highlighted the network's capabilities in defense-related scenarios. At one point, AST stock was up 16.1% from the previous week's close, but shares pulled back due to valuation concerns and financing announcements from the company.
An analyst firm weighed in, and AST made some significant financing moves
On Wednesday, AST SpaceMobile announced that it had entered into an agreement to repurchase $225 million in 4.25% convertible debt notes set to mature in 2032. The company also said it would issue approximately 1.04 million incremental shares in correlation with the convertible notes it was buying back.
As part of the deal, the company is also moving to sell 9.45 million shares of new stock, priced at $53.22 per share, in a direct offering to the holders of the convertible notes. The deal will remove $225 million in debt from the company's balance sheet and cut the need to make $63.8 million in remaining interest payments.
Bank of America also initiated coverage on AST on Wednesday and assigned a neutral rating and a one-year price target of $55 per share on the stock. As of this writing, the firm's price target implies additional upside of roughly 11%. Bank of America's analysts see promise and large-market potential for AST's BlueBird satellite constellation, but they raised concerns about the outlook for the business's sales ramp. With the company trading at roughly 191 times this year's expected sales, some strong growth is already priced in.
