It operates through three segments: Trade, Renewables, and Nutrient & Industrial. The company's Trade segment operates grain elevators; stores commodities; and provides grain marketing, risk management, and origination services, as well as sells commodities, such as corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, ethanol, and corn oil. This segment also engages in the commodity merchandising business, as well as offers logistics for physical commodities, such as whole grains, grain products, feed ingredients, domestic fuel products, and other agricultural commodities. Its Renewables segment produces, purchases, and sells ethanol, and co-products, as well as offers facility operations, risk management, and marketing services to the ethanol plants it invests in and operates. The company's Nutrient & Industrial segment manufactures, distributes, and retails agricultural and related plant nutrients, liquid industrial products, corncob-based products, and pelleted lime and gypsum products, as well as turf fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide products; and crop nutrients, crop protection chemicals, and seed products, as well as provides application and agronomic services to commercial and family farmers. In addition, this segment produces corncob-based products for laboratory animal bedding and private-label cat litter, as well as absorbents, blast cleaners, carriers, and polishers; professional lawn care products for golf course and turf care markets; fertilizer and weed, and pest control products; dry and liquid agricultural nutrients, pelleted lime, gypsum, and soil amendments; and micronutrients, as well as industrial products comprising nitrogen reagents, calcium nitrate, deicers, and dust abatement products. The Andersons, Inc. was founded in 1947 and is based in Maumee, Ohio.

Bunge Global SA BG reported first-quarter 2025 adjusted earnings of $1.81 per share, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.27 by a margin of 42.5%. The bottom line, however, marked a 40.5% year-over-year plunge due to weak results across its segments.

The cost of sales was $11 billion, down 12% from the prior-year quarter. Gross profit plunged 32% year over year to $597 million. Selling and administrative expenses were $380 million, down 13% year over year.
Bunge Global reported an operating profit of $328 million, which marked a 24% decline from $433 million in the year-ago quarter.
Adjusted total segment operating profit slumped 46% year over year to $362 million. Total segment operating margin contracted 190 basis points to 3.1% from the first quarter of 2024.
BG’s Segmental Performances in Q1
Agribusiness: The segment’s sales declined 16% year over year to $8.2 billion. Volumes were 18,277 thousand metric tons compared with 20,192 thousand metric tons in the year-ago quarter.
Adjusted operating profit for the segment declined 45% year over year to $268 million due to lower results in both merchandising and processing.
The merchandising business’ adjusted operating profit was $61 million, marking a 19.7% decline from the year-ago quarter as improved performance in global grains and financial services business was more than offset by lower results in ocean freight.
The processing business’ adjusted operating profit plunged 50% year over year to $207 million. Higher results in Brazil, Europe and Asia soy crush value chains were offset by weaker results in North America, Argentina and European softseeds.
Refined & Specialty Oils: The segment’s sales fell 4.6% year over year to $3.1 billion. Volumes were 2,130 thousand metric tons compared with 2,195 thousand metric tons in the year-ago quarter.
The segment reported an adjusted operating profit of $123 million, a 39.7% drop from the year-ago quarter’s $204 million. This was attributed to lower results across all regions, barring Asia.
Milling: The segment’s sales decreased 2% year over year to $375 million. Volumes were up 2.7% year over year to 898 thousand metric tons.
The segment reported an adjusted operating profit of $15 million, marking a 46% decline from the first quarter of 2024. Improved results in North America were offset by lower results in South America.
BG’s Cash & Balance Sheet Updates
Cash flow used in operating activities was $285 million in the first quarter of 2025 against an inflow of $994 million in the prior-year quarter. The decline was due to net changes in working capital. Cash and cash equivalents were $3.25 billion as of the end of the first quarter of 2025 compared with $3.3 billion as of the end of 2024. At the end of the first quarter of 2025, Bunge Global’s long-term debt was $4.7 billion, flat with 2024-end.
BG Provides 2025 Outlook
The company maintains its previously stated expectation of adjusted earnings per share of $7.75 for 2025, indicating a 15.7% year-over-year decline.
The Agribusiness segment is expected to witness a year-over-year decline due to lower results in Processing.
The Refined and Specialty Oils segment’s full-year results are also anticipated to be down from 2024, reflecting a more balanced supply and demand environment in North America. The Milling segment is expected to deliver an improvement in 2025 results.
BG-Viterra to Create a Premier Agribusiness Solutions Firm
The company also stated that it is in the final stage of the regulatory process on the announced combination with Viterra. The merged entity will boast an enhanced global network with a diversified agriculture network covering all major crops.

High Egg Prices & Demand Drive CALM’s 1Q25 Results
CalMaine reported earnings per share of $4.47 in second-quarter fiscal 2025, a significant improvement from earnings of 35 cents in the year-ago quarter. Sales surged 82.5% to $955 million, driven by robust demand and elevated egg prices.
Egg prices have been high as supply remains constrained due to the outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (“HPAI”). In the quarter, CalMaine achieved records for the total dozen sold and the specialty dozen sold, aided by heightened demand leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday. CALM’s results also reflected the contribution from the acquisition of assets of ISE America completed in June 2024.
CalMaine’s Expansion Plans, New Products to Fuel Growth
To capitalize on the solid demand, CALM has made investments to expand operations. It has earmarked $60 million in new capital projects for the expansion of cage-free capacity. This includes $40 million in projects announced in October 2024, including the addition of five cage-free layer houses and two pullet houses across the company’s locations in Florida, Georgia, Utah and Texas. These are expected to add production capacity for 1.1 million cage-free layer hens and 250,000 pullets by late summer 2025.
CALM is also investing $15 million in expanding the egg product processing facility in Blackshear, GA, to add extended shelf-life liquid egg products. CalMaine has been remodeling the assets acquired from Tyson Foods, Inc. TSN in March 2024 for shell egg production. The assets acquired from TSN were a broiler processing plant, hatchery and feed mill in Dexter, MO. CALM has been collaborating with local contract growers and has commitments for 1.2 million additional free-range hens by fall 2025.
CalMaine recently acquired certain assets of Deal-Rite Feeds, Inc. and its affiliated entities, including two feed mills, storage facilities, usable grain, vehicles, related equipment and retail feed sales business located in Statesville and Union Grove, NC. As feed is a primary cost component for the company, this move will help CALM lower production costs and drive efficiencies.
The company is also expanding its product portfolio to include value-added egg products. This is evident in its investment in Meadowcreek Foods for hard-cooked eggs and in Crepini Foods, a new venture offering egg products and prepared foods. CalMaine expects to leverage the Crepini brand of quality products, including egg wraps and protein pancakes, to extend its reach to major retailers.
Bird Flu Outbreaks Create Tailwinds for CALM Stock
Per the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), HPAI outbreaks in commercial table egg layer flocks resulted in the depopulation of 30.3 million birds so far this year. However, per its report dated March 7, outbreaks have slowed over the past two weeks and have been localized.
The USDA recently rolled out a $1-billion-dollar comprehensive strategy to curb HPAI, protect the U.S. poultry industry and normalize egg prices. This strategy includes funding for biosecurity measures, financial relief for affected farmers, vaccine research, actions to reduce regulatory burdens and exploring temporary import options. This initiative builds on existing funding allocated to compensate growers for lost flocks.

Looking at the underlying holdings of the ETFs in our coverage universe at ETF Channel, we have compared the trading price of each holding against the average analyst 12-month forward target price, and computed the weighted average implied analyst target price for the ETF itself.
