What happened a decade ago
First, though, let's talk a bit more about the Nvidia growth story so far. The past 10 years have actually been key for the tech player since this period covers Nvidia's presence in the world of AI. About a decade ago, the company decided to tailor its graphics processing units (GPUs) to specifically suit this growing market. At the time, AI wasn't making headlines as it does today, so this was a risky bet -- and it turned out to be a successful one.
Over the past few years, companies have recognized the potential of AI to improve their businesses, so they've turned to Nvidia for the GPUs needed to develop and use this technology. Customers may find these high-powered chips across cloud service providers, from Amazon to Microsoft, for example.
All of this has helped Nvidia's revenue and profit soar well into the billions of dollars. In the latest full year, these metrics advanced in the triple digits to $130 billion and $72 billion, respectively.
Now, let's move along to stock performance. Over the past 10 years, the shares have skyrocketed, so if you invested $500 in Nvidia at the start of that period, you would have more than $114,000 right now. That's enormous, especially considering the initial investment wasn't a huge one.
Does Nvidia still have room to run?
Today, however, you might be wondering if buying and holding Nvidia stock still is a good idea. A reasonable question is: How long can this supercharged stock continue to soar? It's impossible to predict Nvidia's moves over the short term -- the stock could flounder or stagnate at a certain point. But there is reason to believe that this market leader still has plenty of room to run over the long term.
In fact, there are several reasons to be optimistic about Nvidia's future earnings and stock performance. One major point is that high-performance GPUs are needed for AI models to complete their tasks -- this means that the GPU could be an essential tool well into the future as AI is put to work. Of course, other companies make AI chips, but Nvidia has maintained its lead, and the company's focus on frequent innovation should help it remain on top.

And their desire to win in AI also pushes them toward the fastest GPUs available. All of this works in Nvidia's favor.
Finally, Nvidia's role in AI likely will continue to evolve in a positive way. The company has developed various platforms for industries -- for example, it's working with major automakers on their autonomous vehicle projects. And Nvidia is getting in early on another area that could deliver explosive growth in the years to come: robotics. The company has developed three computers that take a robot from the training phase to the use stage. Nvidia has even predicted that this will become the next $10 trillion industry.
All of this means Nvidia stock may still be a great place to park your $500 for a decade -- or even longer.

Etsy shares have taken a turn for the worse
During the five-year stretch leading up to their peak, Etsy shares skyrocketed 2,160%. This was one of the hottest stocks on Wall Street.
It's been hard to watch since then, though. In the past five years, the stock has tanked 66% (as of Dec. 9). In the past one- and three-year periods, investors would've also lost money owning the business. That's very discouraging.
The S&P 500 has performed drastically better. The closely watched benchmark has produced a total return of 99% in the trailing five years. It has generated a positive total return in the past 12 and 36 months as well, running circles around Etsy.
Are Etsy's best days behind it?
Etsy's business was firing on all cylinders in the years before 2020. And the COVID-19 pandemic simply supercharged growth, as shoppers gravitated toward digital commerce at the expense of brick-and-mortar retail. Most observers would have agreed that Etsy looked like a solid business. All key metrics were trending in the right direction. The base of active buyers and sellers was expanding rapidly. It was very profitable and generating loads of free cash flow. And it benefits from a powerful network effect.
But it's been a completely different story in the past couple of years, as the fundamentals weakened dramatically. The company is struggling to grow. Gross merchandise sales on the Etsy marketplace totaled $2.4 billion in the third quarter (ended Sept. 30), down 2.4% year over year. And the operating margin of 12.2% is lower than in the same period of 2021. Etsy's costs are rising while activity on its marketplace is under pressure.
At the same time, the domestic e-commerce industry overall has done well. Total sales have steadily climbed in recent years. So, what's happening with Etsy can be a cause for concern. Maybe the discretionary nature of the platform is now a weakness as consumers are discerning with their spending.
On the one hand, the stock is reasonably valued, as it trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 19.8. On the other hand, the market might be signaling that it has lost hope in the business. This pessimistic view might be warranted.

Amazon has multiple growth levers
While Meta Platforms makes most of its revenue from online ads, Amazon has more growth opportunities. Amazon's online marketplace, Amazon Web Services (AWS), online ads, and artificial intelligence (AI) chips are all meaningful business segments.
AWS growth should continue to accelerate thanks to AI tools requiring digital infrastructure. Sales for the segment grew by 20% year over year in Q3, but that wasn't the only part of the business that was growing.
Advertising revenue jumped by 24% year over year, and its online marketplace also posted a double-digit growth rate. Online ads have boosted Amazon's profit margins, but its push into AI agents can further increase margins.
Amazon informed investors in its Q3 press release that AI agents have assisted customers across multiple business segments. For instance, AWS AI agent Transform has saved more than 700,000 hours of manual migration effort year to date, which comes to 335 developer years of work. Amazon also told investors that its Quick Suite agent AI app helped businesses save 80% of their time on complex tasks while realizing 90% cost savings.
Amazon's Trainium2 AI chips are another notable segment that grew by 150% quarter over quarter and is turning Amazon into an AI stock. Trainium2 has become a multibillion-dollar business and can benefit from long-term AI tailwinds.
Meta Platforms is growing faster
Meta Platforms still makes almost all of its revenue from online ads. It's not as diversified as Amazon, but Facebook's parent company continues to grow at a faster rate.
The social media giant delivered 26% year-over-year revenue growth in the third quarter, significantly outpacing Amazon's 13% growth. Furthermore, Meta stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 29.8 compared to Amazon stock's 32.8. Meta Platforms is growing faster and has a more attractive valuation than Amazon.
Its social networks continue to grow, with daily active users up by 8% year over year, but the real opportunity lies in wearable tech. Meta Platforms aims to be the leader in this industry, and it can make the business less reliant on ad sales.
"We continue to lead the industry in AI glasses. If we deliver even a fraction of the opportunity ahead, then the next few years will be the most exciting period in our history," CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors.
The extremely bullish scenario is that AI glasses become the next smartphone. Instead of reaching into your pocket for your device, you can have it accessible at all times, similar to an Iron Man helmet that doesn't cover your entire face.
If Meta Platforms wins that industry, as it has dominated social media, and AI glasses become mainstream products, the company can bring in billions of additional dollars each quarter. In the meantime, ad revenue continues to generate a healthy cash flow, supporting Meta Platforms' AI investments.
The verdict
It's hard to go wrong with either company, but Meta Platforms appears to be the better growth stock. Facebook's parent company has delivered higher revenue growth rates while offering a lower valuation.
Amazon's revenue growth can accelerate thanks to AWS, online ads, AI agents, and AI chips, but Meta Platforms' ads continue to perform at a high level. AI glasses can finally give Meta Platforms the second major product it has been seeking, so it doesn't depend entirely on ad revenue.
As AI glasses technology improves, it can become the next innovative, must-have tech product. Amazon has more paths to long-term growth, but Meta Platforms continues to thrive, thanks to its old reliable sources, while looking for new revenue streams.

Meta vs. Amazon: Which Underperforming "Magnificent Seven" Stock Will Rebound More in 2026?

Some of my favorite stocks have pulled back from their recent highs and have become quite attractive. And there are some others -- especially in the realm of dividend stocks -- that look extremely cheap as we head into 2026.
However, ETFs remain a big part of my investment strategy. In fact, I'm planning to allocate half of my retirement account contributions to ETFs in 2026, more than I have in previous years, as building a "backbone" to my investment portfolio has become a priority. Plus, there are some highly attractive ETFs on my radar right now. Here are three in particular I'm planning to buy aggressively in the new year.

Small caps are cheap
At the start of 2025, small cap stocks were trading for their lowest valuations relative to their large-cap counterparts since the 1990s. This is partially due to the rapid growth in megacap technology stocks, but large caps have been outperforming smaller companies for years. What's more, throughout 2025, the valuation gap got even bigger. In fact, the average stock in the Russell 2000 small-cap index trades for 2.0 times book value. For the average S&P 500 component, the ratio is a much higher 5.2 times book value. That's a big difference.
There are some catalysts that could finally help the valuation gap shrink in 2026. For one thing, lower interest rates favor small cap outperformance for a few reasons. As an example, smaller companies tend to rely on debt more than larger companies.
The Vanguard Russell 2000 ETF (NASDAQ: VTWO) is the ETF I bought the most of in 2025, and it's still toward the top of my watch list. It tracks an index of 2,000 smaller companies, and no individual stock makes up more than 1% of the fund's total assets.
Lots of cheap income stocks
The real estate sector has underperformed the market for the past decade or so, with pandemic-related disruptions and elevated interest rates being the key reasons. But there are some extremely attractive opportunities to buy real estate investment trusts, or REITs, right now, and the Vanguard Real Estate ETF (NYSEMKT: VNQ) could be a top performer in 2026 and beyond for patient long-term investors.
This ETF tracks an index of REITs and offers a 4% dividend yield. It can be a great way to get exposure to some of the largest and most stable real estate operators in the world, such as Prologis (NYSE: PLD), Digital Realty Trust (NYSE: DLR), and healthcare real estate company Welltower (NYSE: WELL), just to name a few.
My favorite AI ETF
So far, I've discussed value and income ETFs, but now I'll go in a different direction by discussing my favorite AI play. To be sure, I own a few stocks directly that are massive beneficiaries of the AI boom, such as Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) and Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN).
However, the top artificial intelligence ETF on my radar focuses on smaller, outside-the-box AI stocks. The Ark Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF (NYSEMKT: ARKQ) is an actively managed ETF, not an index fund, and notable tech investor Cathie Wood is the lead stock-picker.
To be sure, the number one holding of the Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF is Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) but you won't find any other Magnificent Seven stocks in the top 10. The largest positions are mostly in smaller AI stocks, such as Teradyne (NASDAQ: TER), Kratos Defense & Security (NASDAQ: KTOS), and Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR).
The bottom line on ETFs
These three ETFs highlight several different components of my investment strategy and why I like to use ETFs so much. The first two are pure index plays -- investments I hope to hold for decades that I think have a good entry point right now. On the other hand, the Ark ETF is on my radar because researching and analyzing smaller AI plays isn't exactly in my wheelhouse, and this allows me to gain exposure to exciting investment opportunities without too much homework.
The bottom line is that regardless of your investment goals and comfort level with choosing individual stocks, ETFs can play a big role in your strategy. These are three that I think are particularly attractive as we head in 2026, and I plan to add shares of all three to my portfolio in the near future.

The last human moon landing occurred more than 50 years ago when NASA’s Apollo 17 mission touched down on the lunar surface, and U.S. astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt collected samples and conducted experiments. Why has it been so long since? The answer depends on who you ask. Perhaps the reason was a lack of interest after the space race, or maybe it was NASA budgetary issues due to an expanding U.S. fiscal deficit.
Despite these challenges, a scrappy 2002 start-up called Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) would change the course of history. Out of necessity, Elon Musk and his team worked backward from a first-principles framework to drastically reduce costs. Additionally, through years of hard work, the SpaceX team achieved the holy grail of rocketry – reusability. Reusability is a game-changer for space travel because it allows for more frequent travel and makes space travel far more affordable and efficient.
Why the Space Industry is Entering a Secular Bull Market
In the past, space endeavors required only two things: a large enough budget and enough interest. However, for private space companies to thrive, capitalism and profits are a non-negotiable.
Earlier this month, SpaceX Founder and CEO Elon Musk confirmed rumors that SpaceX will go public next year and seek a $1.5 trillion valuation. If SpaceX is to garner a $1.5 trillion valuation, it would make the IPO the largest in history, and it would act as a proof of concept for private space companies and would likely spur investment across the industry.
Unpacking the Space Economy
Below are three emerging segments of the space economy for investors to monitor:
· Data Centers: The recent spending spree from big tech juggernauts on AI data centers is unprecedented. For these deep-pocketed companies, the roadblock is not money, but instead a lack of energy. From this perspective, space has notable advantages over Earth. In space, satellites can absorb the sun 24 hours a day (and the sun is ~30% more intense). Meanwhile, cooling these space data centers is far less complicated than on Earth. A company would simply need to put a radiator on the dark side of the satellite. Recent comments suggest that Elon Musk, Alphabet (GOOGL), and Amazon (AMZN) are racing to deploy the first data centers in space.
· Broadband Internet: Earth has an unquenchable thirst for more internet and more bandwidth. Space-based internet improves performance and has no dead spots like legacy internet. AST Space Mobile (ASTS), Globalstar (GSAT), EchoStar (SATS), and Viasat (VSAT) are four leaders to watch in this space vertical.
· Earth-Imaging Satellite: Low-orbit satellite providers such as Planet Labs (PL) provide daily images of the entire planet to industries like agriculture, defense, and environmental mapping. Unlike many space companies, PL is profitable. Last night, PL reported its fourth consecutive profitable quarter. Thursday, PL shares bolted more than 30% in mid-day trading.

Rivian (NASDAQ: RIVN) was one of the hottest IPOs of 2021. The electric vehicle maker went public at $78 on Nov. 10 and closed at its record high of $172.01 six days later. It initially impressed the bulls because it had already started mass-producing its first vehicles, and it was backed by Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Ford (NYSE: F). The buying frenzy in hypergrowth and meme stocks in late 2021 further inflated its valuations and amplified its gains.
At its peak, Rivian's market capitalization reached $153.3 billion -- or 92 times the revenue it ultimately generated in 2022. However, today, Rivian's stock trades at approximately $17 with a market cap of $21.5 billion -- which is just three times the revenue it's expected to generate in 2026. That makes it dirt cheap compared to Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), which trades at 14 times next year's sales. So could this unloved EV stock bounce back and head higher over the next 12 months?

Can Rivian ramp up its production and deliveries?
Rivian sells three types of EVs: the R1T pickup truck, the R1S SUV, and custom electric delivery vans (EDVs) for Amazon and other companies. When it went public, it planned to produce 50,000 vehicles in 2022 and co-develop another electric pickup with Ford.
However, Rivian only produced 24,337 vehicles in 2022 as it struggled with supply chain constraints, factory shutdowns, and intense competition from other EV makers. Ford also abandoned its partnership with Rivian and sold most of its 12% stake in 2022. Amazon, which placed a long-term order for Rivian's EDVs through 2030, kept its 17% stake.
In 2023, Rivian more than doubled its annual production to 57,232 vehicles. It resolved most of its supply chain issues, strengthened its relationships with its suppliers, made its factories more efficient, and reduced its production costs with its in-house Enduro drive unit. But its production and deliveries stalled out again in 2024 and 2025.

Rivian attributed that slowdown to inflation, rising interest rates, reduced EV subsidies, and competitive headwinds. It also temporarily shut down its central plant in Illinois several times to upgrade its facilities and prepare for the planned launch of its cheaper R2 SUV in 2026.
For 2025, Rivian expects to deliver only 41,500 to 43,500 vehicles. Analysts expect its revenue to rise 8% to $5.37 billion as it sells more of its existing cars. They also expect it to narrow its net loss to $3.82 billion as it sells more of its regulatory credits to other automakers, expands its software and services segment, and uses more in-house components to boost its margins.
For 2026, analysts expect Rivian's revenue to increase 28% to $6.87 billion as it narrows its net loss to $3.66 billion. However, that acceleration will rely on a timely and well-executed rollout of its R2 SUV in the first half of 2026. If the R2 is delayed or met with a chilly reception, Rivian will broadly miss Wall Street's expectations. In 2027, they expect Rivian's revenue to surge 65% to $11.37 billion as it narrows its net loss to $3.15 billion. That optimistic outlook assumes that it will scale up its production of the R2, stabilize its other vehicle shipments, deliver more EDVs to Amazon, and gain more EDV customers. If it can achieve those goals, then its stock appears grossly undervalued at present.
Where will Rivian's stock be in a year?
With nearly $7.7 billion in total liquidity at the end of its latest quarter, Rivian believes it has enough cash to ramp up its production of the R2 next year. If the R2 launch is successful, it meets Wall Street's revenue targets, and its stock trades at a more generous five times forward sales by the end of 2026, it could rise by more than 160% over the next 12 months. However, investors should keep a close eye on its progress with the R2. If it falls short of the market's expectations, Rivian's stock could still decline significantly.

For the last three years, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has been the most dominant company in the artificial intelligence (AI) landscape. The company's graphics processing units (GPUs) are the backbone on which generative AI is developed.
Hyperscalers including OpenAI, Oracle, Meta Platforms, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have collectively spent hundreds of billions of dollars clustering Nvidia GPUs inside of data centers to build their AI infrastructure.

While Advanced Micro Devices is largely perceived as Nvidia's chief rival in the AI chip market, a new threat is emerging: Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG). The internet giant is making waves in the semiconductor industry thanks to rising interest in its custom hardware, known as tensor processing units (TPUs).
Let's take a look at what Alphabet's entrance in the chip market means for Nvidia as investments in AI infrastructure continue to unfold. Should Nvidia investors be worried? Read on to find out.
What is the difference between a GPU and a TPU?
Nvidia's GPUs are versatile pieces of hardware. These chips are designed to work in clusters in parallel with the company's CUDA software architecture. Taken together, Nvidia's ecosystem can be used to train large language models (LLMs) or help build more robust applications across AI robotics, autonomous driving, and quantum computing.
TPUs, by contrast, are much more specialized. Rather than being a purpose-built piece of hardware, Alphabet's TPUs should be classified as a custom application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC). This makes TPUs useful in extremely bespoke workloads such as deep learning.
Alphabet's TPUs are seeing strong demand, but there's a catch
Throughout the AI revolution, one of Alphabet's biggest winners has been its cloud division: Google Cloud platform. In recent months, Google Cloud has won notable deals with OpenAI as well as a $10 billion contract with Meta Platforms.
What investors might not fully comprehend is that the introduction of hardware now makes TPUs an interesting selling point within Google's broader cloud ecosystem.
Notably, Apple used TPUs to train its Apple Intelligence models. Meanwhile, Anthropic announced plans to expand its usage of Google Cloud in a deal featuring up to 1 million TPUs. Lastly, rumors are swirling that Meta is considering complementing its existing reliance on Google Cloud by deploying its own TPU clusters.
On the surface, accelerating TPU demand from big tech might sound alarming for Nvidia investors. However, there are some finer details that smart investors shouldn't overlook.
While Anthropic's relationship with Google Cloud is significant, the company also has strong ties with Nvidia. Just weeks ago, Anthropic agreed to purchase $30 billion of compute capacity from Microsoft Azure, which runs heavily on Nvidia's GPUs.
On top of that, OpenAI recently struck a $38 billion deal with AWS to access Nvidia's new GB200 and GB300 chips.
Furthermore, while Nvidia does not reveal the specifics around its customer concentration, many analysts on Wall Street suspect that the hyperscalers -- including Alphabet -- are among its largest chip buyers.
These are important details to understand. While TPUs represent potentially transformative dynamics in the AI chip market, many of their users -- including Google itself -- actually complement this custom hardware with Nvidia's general purpose GPUs. Against this backdrop, TPUs don't appear to be replacing GPUs at all.
AI chips is not a winner-take-all market
Management consulting firm McKinsey & Company is forecasting AI infrastructure to be a $7 trillion market by 2030, with roughly $5 billion of this spend allocated toward AI workloads.
Given the hyperscalers are accelerating their capital expenditures (capex), I feel confident that demand for Nvidia's GPUs and accompanying data center services will remain robust for the foreseeable future.
It's possible -- even likely -- that rival accelerators from AMD in combination with custom ASICs such as TPUs will eventually erode Nvidia's pricing power in the chip market down the road.
Nevertheless, the introduction of TPUs is not a checkmate move by Google. If anything, complementing existing Nvidia infrastructure with custom chip designs reinforces how large of an opportunity AI infrastructure is becoming. In other words, AI chips are not a winner-take-all market.
For these reasons, I don't think Nvidia investors need to panic. The company still remains the king of the chip realm and appears well positioned to thrive in the AI infrastructure era.
