Roblox Stock Soars 79% in 3 Months: Lock in Gains or Hold Tight?

Charter Communications CHTR has reported second-quarter 2025 earnings of $9.18 per share, which missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 8.66%. However, the reported figure increased 8.1% year over year.
Revenues of $13.8 billion increased 0.6% year over year, driven by growth in residential mobile service, residential Internet and other revenue streams. The top line beat the consensus mark by 0.08%.
CHTR has shown a mixed earnings surprise, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate in one of the trailing four quarters while exceeding it in the other three, with an average surprise of 5.05%.

Video revenues totaled $3.48 billion in the second quarter, decreasing 9.9% year over year.

Mid-market and large business revenues, excluding wholesale, increased 3.5% year over year. Second-quarter advertising sales were $371 million, which decreased 6.7% year over year, primarily driven by lower political revenues.
Excluding political revenues in both periods, advertising sales revenues decreased 4.4% year over year due to a more challenging advertising market.
Other revenues totaled $839 million in the second quarter, reflecting a rise of 18.9% from the second quarter of 2024, primarily driven by higher mobile device sales.

Second-quarter total residential and SMB Internet customers decreased 2% year over year to 31.2 million.
Second-quarter total Internet customers decreased by 117 thousand compared with a decline of 149 thousand in the year-ago period. As of June 30, 2025, Charter had 29.9 million total Internet customers.
Total video customers decreased 80 thousand in the second quarter of 2025 compared with a decline of 408 thousand in the year-ago quarter. As of June 30, 2025, Charter had 12.63 million total video customers.
In the second quarter of 2025, total wireline voice customers decreased 220 thousand compared with a decline of 220 thousand in the year-ago quarter. As of June 30, 2025, Charter had 6.38 million total wireline voice customers.
Charter added 500 thousand total mobile lines compared with 557 thousand in the year-ago quarter. As of June 30, 2025, the company served 10.89 million mobile lines.
Operating Details
Total operating costs and expenses increased 0.6% year over year to $8.07 billion.
Second-quarter programming costs decreased 8.8% year over year due to fewer video customers, a higher mix of lower-cost packages within Charter’s video customer base and $67 million of costs, which accounting principles require to be allocated to programmer streaming applications and netted within video revenues.
Other costs of revenues increased 7.3% year over year, driven by higher mobile device sales and mobile service direct costs.
Field and technology operations increased 4.3% year over year, and customer operations increased 3% year over year, partly offset by lower labor costs.
Marketing and residential sales expenses increased 8.6% year over year, given Spectrum's continued focus on driving growth. Other expenses decreased 0.6% year over year.
Adjusted EBITDA increased 0.5% year over year to $5.7 billion.
Balance Sheet & Cash Flow
As of June 30, 2025, the total principal amount of debt was $94.3 billion, and Charter's credit facilities provided approximately $5.8 billion of additional liquidity over its $606-million cash position.
In the second quarter of 2025, net cash flows from operating activities totaled $3.6 billion. Capital expenditure totaled $2.9 billion in the second quarter of 2025, an increase of $21 million from the year-ago quarter, driven by the timing of CPE and upgrade/rebuild, partly offset by line extensions.
The free cash flow in the second quarter of 2025 totaled $3.6 billion, reflecting a decrease of $3.9 billion from the first quarter of 2024. The year-over-year increase in the free cash flow was primarily driven by mobile device working capital changes.
In the reported quarter, Charter purchased 4.5 million shares of Charter Class A common stock and Charter Holdings common units for $1.7 billion.

DTC revenues increased 7.7% year over year to $2.01 billion. Its subscription revenues grew 7.3%, driven by subscriber growth.
DTC saw strong momentum in the reported quarter, with earnings improvement, subscriber growth and record engagement driving revenues. Paramount+ added 5.6 million subscribers in the reported quarter, the best in two years. achieved a new milestone, ranking as the second-highest domestic subscription video-on-demand service for hours watched across all Original Series in the fourth quarter. Pluto TV had a record year, with viewing hours increasing 16% in the fourth quarter year over year and 8% for the full year.
DTC advertising revenues rose 9.1%, driven by growth in Paramount+ and Pluto TV, along with higher political advertising.
Global viewing hours across Paramount+ and Pluto TV grew 28% year over year. Paramount+ subscribers reached 77.5 million, with 5.6 million net additions in the quarter. Paramount+ global ARPU increased 1%, while its domestic watch time per user reached a record high and increased 22% year over year.
DTC adjusted OIBDA improved $204 million year over year, indicating revenue growth and cost efficiencies.
TV Media Details
TV Media revenues decreased 3.7% year over year to $4.98 billion, due to ongoing declines in affiliate and advertising revenues.
The segment’s advertising revenues decreased 3.7%, primarily due to a weaker linear advertising market and fewer sporting events on CBS, though partially offset by increased political advertising.
TV Media affiliate and subscription revenues decreased 6.7%, caused by subscriber declines, though partially offset by price increases.
The segment’s licensing and other revenues increased 3.3% in the quarter, primarily driven by secondary licensing growth, partially offset by fewer made-for-third-party productions.
TV Media adjusted OIBDA decreased 17% to $949 million, caused by the lower revenues.

The NFL on CBS secured three of the top four regular-season games, with streaming viewership surging nearly 60%. Yellowstone's return on Paramount Network set new records, attracting 18 million premiere-night viewers and maintaining its position as the number 1 cable show. The Daily Show remains the top cable entertainment series in Late Night, while MTV’s The Challenge leads as the top competition series on cable. Nickelodeon also continues its strong appeal, with SpongeBob ranking as the number one kids' series and a top performer on Paramount+.
Filmed Entertainment Details
Filmed Entertainment revenues increased 67.1% year over year to $1.08 billion. Theatrical revenues increased $336 million, driven by the releases of Gladiator II and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Licensing and other revenues increased 16.8%, indicating a higher volume of licensing of library titles and higher studio facility revenues compared with last year, which was impacted by the labor strikes.
The company reported an adjusted OIBDA loss of $42 million, down from $66 million year over year, due to higher marketing costs for five theatrical releases versus one last year and the late-quarter release of Sonic 3.
Paramount Pictures saw strong fourth-quarter revenue growth, driven by Sonic the Hedgehog 3, nearing $500 million globally as the franchise’s highest-grossing film. The Sonic series has now reached $1.2 billion worldwide. Gladiator II surpassed $460 million, while Smile 2 debuted at number 1, outperforming its predecessor’s opening weekend, showcasing the studio’s balanced theatrical success.

Top-Line Details
Studios (36.5% of total revenues) reported revenues of $3.65 billion, up 15% from the year-ago quarter. Revenues increased 16% ex-FX from the prior-year quarter on a pro forma combined basis.
Within the segment, content revenues returned 16% ex-FX to $3.39 billion. TV revenues increased 64% ex-FX, primarily driven by higher inter-segment content licensing and higher initial telecast deliveries, which were impacted by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in the prior year.

Within the segment, distribution revenues decreased 4% ex-FX, primarily due to a 9% decline in domestic linear pay-TV subscribers and an approximately 100 bps impact from the AT&T SportsNet exit, partially offset by a 6% increase in domestic affiliate rates.
Advertising revenues decreased 16% ex-FX, primarily due to a decline of 28% in domestic network audiences and the continuing softness in the domestic linear advertising market.
Content revenues increased 74% ex-FX, primarily due to the timing of content licensing deals.
DTC revenues (26.4% of revenues) rose 5% from the year-ago quarter to $2.65 billion.
Within the segment, distribution revenues increased 8% ex-FX, primarily driven by a 20% rise in subscribers, as well as higher pricing following the launch of Max in Latin America and Europe in the first half of 2024. This was partially offset by continued domestic linear wholesale subscriber declines.
Advertising revenues surged 27% ex-FX, primarily driven by an increase in ad-lite subscribers.
Content revenues plunged 40% ex-FX, primarily due to fewer third-party licensing deals.
Subscriber Details
WBD ended the fourth quarter of 2024 with 116.9 million global DTC subscribers, which increased 6.4 million sequentially.
Global DTC ARPU decreased 5% ex-FX to $7.44, driven by growth in lower ARPU international markets, ad-tier subscriber growth, and an increase in domestic wholesale subscribers, partially offset by higher pricing.
Operating Details
In the fourth quarter, selling, general and administrative expenses decreased 9.7% from the year-ago quarter’s levels to $2.21 billion.
Total Adjusted EBITDA was $2.7 billion, an 11% ex-FX increase compared to the prior-year quarter, primarily due to growth in the DTC and Studios segments.
Fourth-quarter 2024 cash provided by operating activities came in at $2.71 billion compared with $3.57 billion in the prior-year period.
The company reported a free cash flow of $2.42 billion compared with a free cash flow of $3.31 billion in the prior-year period, primarily driven by higher net content investment, in part due to the prior year impact from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, partially offset by higher operating profits and lower restructuring expenses.
The company reported an operating income of $162 million compared with an operating loss of $182 million in the year-ago quarter.
